So glad to find you! My wonderful Grandmom made her fried apple pies with her dried apples and fried them in her iron skillet just the way you did and they were so delicious! She also dried her beans from her garden and she was famous for her snap beans! Grandmom also made the most beautiful room-size braided rugs from fabric scraps that she had saved from her gorgeous quilts and from clothes she made for her 11 children. Thanks so much for bringing back treasured memories!
I'm making these,I'm making these,I'm making these! I told my daughter in law about a week ago that I wished I had my grandmothers recipe for these. She used to make them using the apples from the apple tree in her yard. I so grateful for my rural upbringing. Thank you for always sharing these delicious recipes!
Makes me miss my mommy more each time i watch these videos ,53 yrs old an no momma ever cooked like my momma, not to say we all dont feel same about our mommys
Oh my goodness, you taught me something in the first three seconds. I never imagined using the bottom of the sifter to cut out circles in the dough. I swear there was a big lightbulb that lit up over my head. 💡
Love this! Mom made them with canned dough and apple butter for a quick "bedtime snack" and we loved sprinkling the cinnamon sugar on them while they sizzled. ♥️
I am these fried apple fires today and my husband LOVES them . I made 12 of the marvelous delicious fried pies and we only have 6 left. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Thats how i was taught to make fried pies, my husband eats too many when i make them! So Chris is correct men love fried pies! And i love your "Hoot Hoots" hanging on that cabinet! Keep on cookin ladybug!
The one and ONLY time I enjoyed Fried Pies was in Arkansas during Duck Season many years ago. I remember that my Little Rock friends told me to pull into this small Rural Gas Station so we could get Fried Pies... I didn't know what they were talkin about. But BUDDY... I sure learned quick..! Apple, Peach and Blueberry. HOLY MACKEREL...!!! 😳😋😉 Thanks Tammy.
Many years ago my Mom made the best fresh peach cobbler, as we were enjoying the cobbler the next day the sugar content came up, of course my Mom added sugar, then I did and later that first day my dad added sugar as well, we just cracked up. Not only did the cobbler taste good, but it looked beautiful with a bottom crust, side crust and lattice top, all cooked to a perfect golden color. You know what would be wonderful if there was smellivision? Also, I really appreciate how clean your work spaces are!
Fried apple pies are one of my favorite, my mamaw always used dried apples too , she always dried her own apples and I can remember going into her cellar in the fall and she would have a shelf lined with quart jars of dried apples! Great video
My Mom, who grew up in Oklahoma, then moved to Texas before I was born, used to make wonderful fried pies when I was a kid. They were so good! She sometimes put a powdered sugar glaze on them or we’d eat them plain. I like them plain. We never put cinnamon sugar on them though. I need to make some! Thanks for posting. I have to get busy now!
The pies are Sooo good. What a habit to get into!! Perfect for a large family. My grandmother always made sure all of her kids and grandkids had at least 2+ 1 extra. Ha ,that adds up to three. We cherished her so much!.
Tammy my moma would put her round dough disk on a little flat plate and cut around the excess dough hanging off then crimp the apples in before she fried them I can still see her doing that miss her!
Thanks for this recipe! My grandpa and uncle had an apple orchard when I was growing up. Apple season was anticipated eagerly each year with great enthusiasm! We always made a lot of different things with apples, but not fried pies! I guess Illinois is too far north for them! I’m in Texas now and they are everywhere! I need to make them and add them to my apple recipes! Thanks again! Watch you everyday!💕🍎🍎🥧🥧😋
Ooohweee from the Motor City! Those look good. I make my filling with dried apples or dried peaches. My mama used to make these as well. Thanks for sharing 😋
My ALL TIME FAVORITE ! One year, I made dried peach fried pies, as well as dried apple fried pies. I fried them, and then put literally dozens of them into my freezer. To say that we thoroughly enjoyed those fried pies ALL that winter is an understatement ! Sometimes just heated and sometimes heated with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Ohhhhh, those were the days of really good eating ! These days, because of health reasons, I eat Keto…….and just DREAM of those long-ago homemade fried pies that filled my freezer !
She also every year when it got cooler outside in Eastern Kentucky she had a big marble slab she would make pulled cream candy ! When I go back home to visit they sell it in the fall there still but it’s not the same as what she made! Hers would melt in your mouth! Thanks for the memories!
my nanny used to make these for me growing up. but she used canned biscuit dough. and only i don't remember a sugar sprinkle or sugar and brown sugar mixture. but what i do remember most fondly was watching her cooking them in her cast iron skillet, telling me to stand back or i'd get splattered, and the most delicious fried pies i'd ever eaten. a lot of your cooking reminds me of hers. thank you. btw, i'm in brunswick, ga, and was thinking of yall in st marys while that hurricane warning during elsa came through. saw the video you posted and thought lord that must have been a very important trip to the post office that chris had to make during a hurricane and tornado warning. LOL!!
Hi Tammy! This is just exactly the way my grandmother made fried apple pies. They were SO good! I've not made fried pies in a while but your video has inspired me to put this on my "to do" list this weekend. We'll go for both apple & sweet potato fried pies! That should keep my crew happy for a minute or two!! Thanks for another video, y'all, and God bless!
Just tried this recipe WOW so good! However advise everyone about the temp. Of the oil. If oil gets too hot, it burns and the inside won't get done. So I think it needs a watchful eye. But what a great recipe. Thank you from Nevada City CA.
We love fried apple pies. I love to make them with Grand biscuits also. That's the way my husband always got them when he was young. They were made out of any can biscuit. Thanks for posting!
My Big Mama made fried apple pies just like this but she always used the dried apples. She was born and raised in Glenville, Georgia on a farm, then raised her own family in Savannah.
We always have an abundance of apples here in Hendersonville, NC and we are known for our Apple Festivals! I’m going to have to fix these soon! Thank you!

I made your recipe for my mom and dad and they loved them! They were so happy! I just love you and your husband and wish you both nothing but the best❤️

Remind people to cool their apples before putting in crust or the crust will melt. I’ve heard you mention it before. I love these. My mother would bake them. She would make pineapple pies which were my favorite. I’m guessing she used a good quality pineapple jam or preserve. I’d make my filling from chunky pineapple in a can. I’m gonna make these today. Hi Tammy, just wanted to send you a message to say how much you brighten my day ❤️You are a beautiful soul and I just love you so much! Thank you for sharing your light with us!
If you use butter flavored Coconut Oil you will get a more even browning and no water bubbles like I saw when you put the butter into the hot oil. Also, I was taught to add an egg to the biscuit recipe to help them stick together.
We were very poor and this was a very big treat . one day at school another little girl wanted to trade her sandwich for my pie I was thrilled to get that sandwich. Lol
Ok now my you have really hit my weakness again!!! Cinnamon apple pie😂 A big bowl of some vanilla icecream and you wont hear a word outta me!!! Also I Love the shirt Mr. Chris🎣
I've always loved fried apple pies. I made some a few months ago using canned cooked apples, added a little cornstarch, and once the mixture cooled I put them in a soft tortilla shell. Sealed the edges and fried them. They were quick and delicious.
Yummy! My Mommy made alot of Apple Pies. She would have pie dough leftover and she would make one big long cinnamon, brown sugar and butter Roll and bake it in the oven. Delish! 🍏🍎🥧🙂❤ She made homemade pie dough called Pennsylvania Pie Dough. 🥧🍎❤

Hello Tammy and Chris thanks so much for the video of the fried apple pie’s my grandmother used to make fried pies when I was a little boy in Arkansas sometimes two orthree times a year they were delicious she put cinnamon in hers, I really miss her a lot and her good cooking as well nothing like good old fashion homemade fried apple pie’s . Hope you and Chris have a blessed day😀🙏🏾
They're definitely improved with cinnamon sugar!
