- Night Cat sent me their 2 Person Backpacking Tent to test out, so I took it to a very wet and windy Peak District forest to see what it's like. Join me while I have a first look and set up the tent for the very first time.
@nightcatoutdoor
You can find full details of the tent on Night Cat's website:

Really nice clear video, thank you! Would love to hear you even better though! Keep up the good work and happy hiking!
Yes it turned out to be a really wet and windy day, I have invested in a decent microphone though since this video. So hopefully you should be able to hear me better 👍 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, really appreciate it 😊
Well done son, glad to see you back out again. From 1 old Para to the next generation, Cheers Dad
Thanks Dad, good to be getting back out again 🙂
A good value tent, I don't understand why campers need pockets unless u carry snooker balls!!! When putting items in them pockets they will sag with the weight, place items on tent floor instead, as everything it is only my opinion. Cheers Mark.
😂 Yes that's quite true actually, I don't put much in the pockets. Usually stuff I want to be at hand easily, head torch etc
Had mine for about 6 months now, my only gripes are the ground sheet is very thin and definitely needs a tarp or mat underneath. The other problem I've found is when opening the the doors rain drips in.
I've not camped in rain yet with it, but I see what you mean about the ground sheet. But I guess that's not too bad considering how much it costs, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 🙂
Must admit to always using a footprint, irrespective of tent, but have now had this tent out in some serious all day rain, and it and groundsheet (and footprint!) kept it all bone dry...........
I’ve had mine a good 12 months now, really pleased with its performance. Slightly on the heavy side. Completely agree with you about that toggle, Ideally needs to be higher. Great video 🤘🏻🤘🏻(subbed)
That's great to hear, I finally got to use it on a camp a couple of weeks ago and it did fantastically even with quite a bit of wind. Thanks for the sub, much appreciated 😀
Lovely spot! As you probably realised, the cross bar, goes over the top and not underneath the main frame. It will set a lot better. Night Cat also do a lighter (Sil nylon) variant.
Thanks for that, will give that at try when I get out for a camp in it. Thanks for watching 👍
With a Xmas discount code, these are currently £63.00. Crazy cheap.
The best bit for me is that I can put mine up in just over a minute.
Rather than walk to the opposite corner when you started to lay the poles out, put the closet one in first, and clip the lowest supporting clip in place, then work around corner to corner, not forgetting to clip the lowest as you go. You can then go round once more clipping them all in place.
Good luck with the tent, and thanks for the review.😊
£63 is an absolute bargain! Thanks for the tip Eddie, will deffo give that method a go the next time I'm out in it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, much appreciated 😊
We just started watching your film Stuart! And hope you have a good one buddy👍🏼👏🙏
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, really appreciate it. Hope you enjoyed it 😊
Glad you're on the mend now boss!!! All the best mate😁
Cheers Lewis 😊
Great review
Thanks Moosebear 🙂
Nice video Stuart. I enjoyed your insight/first look at the new tent mate.👍
Thanks Hengist, looks like a great tent and I can't wait to get out camping in it. Thanks for watching, and leaving a comment, it really helps 😊
First time viewer and new sub. Liked this first look but have one question, are the vents meshed? Lots of mosquitoes where I want to use it.🤠
Thanks for watching and the sub, the vents on the outer fly have no mesh at all, just big open holes for the mosquitoes to say hello 😂
Currently £71 , looks like a decent tent
£71 is a great price for a budget tent, it would be great for someone starting out wild camping. It has loads of space and isn't too heavy. I have used it on a few camps now and been quite impressed with it.
@@StuartThow my son is looking for a tent that doesn’t cost too much, thinking this could be perfect, he’s 6 foot 2, would there be enough length in the tent?
@@stevenvitali7404 I'm just slightly over 6,1 and fit in it fine.
@@StuartThow great, thanks
Another good decent budget tent to look at is the Oex Bobcat
Just bought this tent, felt that it didbt come with enough pegs, and i dont know if it was the way i had it up but rain water would pool at the top, so i purchased one of those replacement 'skylight roof' sheets you get on most basic tents. Brilliant tent though
Yeah you get just the bare minimum of pegs with most tents these days, I tend to use the same bag of upgraded tent pegs for each camp no matter which tent I'm using. Glad you like the tent though, I will probably be out in mine for my next camp 👍
So fabulous to see you outdoors Stu. Hopefully a camp soon I know you're looking forward to being able. Tent looks great. Definitely room to take the kids too!!!
Yeah It was great to get out, can't wait to actually go out camping!
Nice video bud .... and a nice spot... shame about the weather 🙂
Cheers, yeah it was a bit windy! Don't mind the rain so much, just nice to get outdoors. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, really appreciate it 😊
Sorry you have not been to good Stuart, but its good to see you again even though I didn't recognise where you were....You know what I think about camping but when you came out and said it was £80 I was shocked...I thought about maybe £150 but I know nothing.😂...to be honest at that price I may consider camping...Considered it...not for me...will leave it all up to you and your Great vids...Cheers Les.🙂👍🤝
Thanks Les much appreciated, it was at Snake Woodlands. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment 😊
Good job setting up in that wind! 🏕️
Yeah I didn't expect it to be that windy! Good test for the tent though 👍
@@StuartThow Definitely! Looking forward to seeing how it does when you take it for a full spin 😊
@@BlossomCrochet Plenty of room in this tent for you to come with me 👍
@@StuartThowNow there’s a thought… 🙃🤔
I just got mine the other day can't wait to use it.
That's fantastic, nothing beats getting a new tent 😁 Let me know how you like it 😎
ahh love going tthere to snake pass woodlan, ccamped there few times under the tree next to the river :) in the background there) doesnt look a bad tent tbh ! could do with a better one as only have a phoxx 2, tarptent notch li aands a lanshan 2 , could do with a decent winter tent
Yeah looks like a great place to camp, but yes it's a cracking tent for only £80!
Sounds like you have a great collection of tents, but we always need 1 more 😂
It's actually 2000mm rating as I wasn't sure as it seems to be different on every website you look at.
So after I got in touch with the company they said it has a hydrostatic rating of 2000mm. Which is designed for light rain not heavy I would of preferred if it was 4000 but for the price it's quite decent.
Great review 👍
Thank you for letting me know 👍 , shame about it being 2000mm but like you say for the price it's still decent. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, really appreciate it 🙂
@StuartThow your welcome for heavy rain I'd probably take a lightweight tarp with me & put it over the top somehow & peg it down
Sounds like a great idea for a bit of added protection, hopefully the next time I take it out I get some heavy rain and get to test it properly.
good work - I was just about to pull the trigger - now I'm wondering.. 2000 - to 3000 is a 50% difference
Nightcat had originally told me it was 4000, the website now says 3000 but Nightcat now say it is 2000.
Cracking spot Stu. Love the look at that. You gonna test that tent out high?
Yeah that's the plan, I prefer camping higher up usually. Once I'm able to I will be out putting it through its paces 😎
@@StuartThow hopefully it holds up to the test. Could be a decent weather window coming next week
@@Moffatmountainadventures Yeah I'm sure it will well as long as it's not too windy, but for space in a tent it's amazing!
Although in no way designed/built as a mountain tent, I have had mine out in 45 mph gusts, and it was very good and quiet. I wrapped the guys around the poles as well, and it was rock solid.@@StuartThow
That's good to know, hoping to get out in it and test it properly in the next couple of weeks 🙂 Great tip as well wrapping the guys around the poles, will give that a try too. 👍
Looks big
Yeah its massive, tons of space for 2 people and 2 good sized vestibules. 👍
