Dan you must be psychic!! My wife literally mentioned to me this morning about my sideburns needing tidying up and boom! Dan C is there with a video! 👊😎
Hey Dan! I shave my head so it is absolutely essential that I fade my beard into my head. I've seen guys that don't and I don't like the look. The trick is to keep enough bulk on the side and still fade into a zero length. I usually do it with scissors, but trimmers work too. Great video!
I agree! I shave my head too and cleaning up the sideburns and adding a nice fade into the skin at the top makes a world of difference in how your beard looks.
Thanks goodness I found this video. The longer my sideburns get the more I realize I want a cleaner look. I’m going to try this method over the weekend. Ty Dan C & keep it up!
Beard king is back! This, i feel is such an important part of ones beard journey and to know how to do it properly is essential! Thanks again!! Simple but effective 🎉 @Dan C Bearded
Thank you Dan for another Great video. My sideburns drive me crazy with try to tame them. Can’t wait to follow your teachings and clean them bad boys up. I can’t thank you enough for what you do for me and the bearded community.
Love this video as trimming up the side burns makes a HUGE difference with a BIG beard. Im bald so i use the 3 guard at the bottom of my ear and then fade the side burn with a 2 guard half way up the ear. Im not a fan of the angle look, i prefer the straight across the top of the side burn look. Thanks for the video!
Crazy I been follow for like 2 weeks now I changed how I was doing everything since it wasn’t right. Just in two weeks my beard looks so much better feels so much better. So happy I found you. Keep up the great content!!!! Also got the ginger jamboree what a great smell. Good recommendation.
Very good video. I typically use a #2 from the middle of the ear to the head hair also. I need to try those trimmers as I'm using a budget pair of Wahl trimmers currently.
Hi Dan another good tutorial. I discovered a beard wash that I like alot. I haven't done Matty's oil because I use an oil and balm I really like. The wash honestly has been one of the best I've tried its Victory brand.
Thanks for the video Dan. This will be very helpful to a couple of friends. Unfortunately my sideburns are very sparse and fading from a bald head into the beard is a constant struggle. oh well, that's what balm is for. All the best wishes to Sam for me please.
@@DanCBearded true story, when I decided to give the barber experience a try not gonna lie I judged them by their clippers. If they didn’t have a babyliss clipper on their Arsenal I didn’t even consider them😅🙈
Great video, I don’t have to clean around my ears but still watched to the end. lol As a history teacher, 12 days of Beardsmas you could do the namesake of sideburns.
This is my first thing i want to trim after I hit my YEARD! My sideburns are so long its getting harder to keep them "S" curls maintained throughout the day.
Great video Dan, sideburns make a big difference for overall beard look. Being bald and bearded 😎 I use the the technique you shared from Matt @ No BS Beard reviews. Do it once or twice a week.
Thanks for video it was helpful, I do have a question when you first started growing your beard were the side of cheeks not as full as goatee area? I have a 15 month old beard my sides look a kinda thin but my goatee area looks full
for the cheek line I use a razor, if you were to use a razor thoughts on old school shaving cream or shave gels also thoughts on the old school after shave or the post shave balm. Also your thoughts on the products you would suggest? thank you
I'm about to shave my beard off, very nervous about doing it not what I really want but I've changed jobs and I'm getting covered in dust and dirt all day, my beard seems to be drying out and going crispy, I'm washing and oiling every day but by the end of the day its dry and horrible again and it's just getting to hard to maintain. Been growing it for about 2 and a half years so it is a very long and lovely beard. I know I'm going to regret it 😥
If you feel the regret already… I would listen to yourself. Make sure you are increasing your water intake. Consider rinsing your beard after work and adding more oil.
Ston - have you considered wearing a beard net or mask while your working? I don't know how small the dust particles are but it might be worth a try. Dan could speak to this better than I, but do you think having a spray bottle with you to mist your beard during break times might help from getting as crispy during the day? Just some thoughts, I know I would exhaust every effort before shaving. Best of luck to you my friend, I hope you don't have to shave.
@@whiskersnwhisky4728 thanks for the ideas, I'm a window fitter by trade so varies what it is from can be 100 year old dust too saw dust, I think the lads would rip me a new one if I rocked up to site with a beard net on so that's a definite no lol and it was hard enough during covid with a mask so doubt I'll be wearing one of those. Probably my water intake might be the best option for me I'm a brit so the only water I consume is what goes into my 8 cuppas a day. Thanks though for the reply
Hey Dan, I know this is an older video but I was wondering what you would recommend for us guys with longer hair? Should we do this same thing or would it be best to let the sideburns grow?
Sideburns drive me crazy. They flip up around my glasses and hats and just look crappy. I usually clean them up with scissors but it's a pain in the butt and hard to get blended and looking nice. Trimmers make me nervous; my hair is about a foot and a half long and I worry about accidentally talking a chunk out of it. Working up the nerve to try it because I think if done right and carefully it would achieve a better result.
Interesting. I’m growing out now and was assuming I would want that hair to contribute to the mass below. I’m at a little over two inches and it’s already getting to be a pain to straighten in that area.
@@mgbaron the hairs I cut have a pretty short terminal length, similar to cheek hairs. They will likely never truly add to mass below. I would rather have the purposeful look. Now, if you are trying to be a world champion in beard competitions, then for sure don’t touch the sideburns

Agreed fully! The blend/fade is key. I have a strong thought about the angle too, and I will be making a video on that in the near future

What would you recommend for a bald head with bushy sideburns and a long beard?
Looks good. I fade mine into my bald head. With my Wahl trimmers
Awesome Dave!
I do this normally trim my side burns after a haircut.
Same!
That about all I'll do 2 my beard is take down the sideburns & fade it sometimes myself. But usually I let my barber do it
That’s great!

Dan do you ever line up your cheek beard line or do you like the natural look??
Just curious.

for the cheek line I use a razor, if you were to use a razor thoughts on old school shaving cream or shave gels also thoughts on the old school after shave or the post shave balm. Also your thoughts on the products you would suggest? thank you

It gets slightly wavy but with a little oil it gets straighter and as my face is thin gives more volume.
