Bro i LOVE the Great Mace! As soon as i saw a Cathedral Knight turn on the buff i knew i wanted to do the same with the Blessed Weapon miracle. It looks so cool!
I still think the claymore has a place in this. It just does everything well. Great range, good damage, can be infused/buff, good weapon art, good moveset, not too heavy and can be picked after 5-10 minutes of gameplay.
Its a solid weapon but defo not the best. Or top 10 for that matter. Greatswords DS3 onwards have been the average class. The Jack of All trades. Good if ur not sure, but not on eof thr best options out there
The straight sword r1 spamming is the very reason why I think dark souls 3 is the easiest souls game. I would just pick up the broad sword n go to town on everything til NG+20
Love the LKGS. Lightning infuse on my str/fth build always catches invaders by surprise. They think they can block is and boom, lightning damage through the shield. And then the weapon art always catches them by surprise. Then R1 spam like a noob til they die.
Another great thing about the RKPGs; they might be the best anti-Friede weapon in the game. Specifically, the power stance moveset just absolutely bodies her; she has no poise, so she gets staggered by the entire run up leading to the first attack. And the second and third attacks have such wide coverage on their sweeps that they will catch her dodges 9 times out of 10, leading to her eating the full combo. Even if she tries to attack out of it, the hyper armor is so good that you'll usually just keep going and hit her anyway. I always dreaded that fight on NG+ runs until I tried the RKPGs, leading to the _only_ time I considered that fight to be anything even close to "easy."
Do game really need an anti-Friede weapon ? She is not that strong at all. It would take someone 3-4 try to beat her. I would place her with Lothric princes.
Black Knight weapons should at least be honorable mentions. Very high physical damage, great stagger potential and bonus damage against demons is very nice. Particularly the greatsword (not the ultra) is stupid good with perseverance allowing it to trade blows against basically anything. As a sidenote, LKGS works better with a Blessed infusion, since the faith scaling applies to both the physical and lightning damage.
im playing ds3 bc ppl told me elden ring was easy using spirits and rivers of blood... i went into ds3 blind and picked up the sellswords and im STILL cheesing the game???
not really tho. with sellswords L1 spam you still have to learn the bosses moveset, dodge timing, and also they really have bad range in every attack so you gotta learn positioning to stay close. (the sprint attack is a$$ too) so you gotta stay super close to the enemies/bosses = more risky. they are only good if you play hyper aggrssively and it takes skill to do so you are not cheesing. also these weapons never hard counters any bosses like some certain other weapons do in ds3 due to their stagger or hyper armor or weird i-frame during attack animation etc
I started as the Knight and fully maxed out that sword starting weapon for the whole game, same with the shield. I changed armour twice, once with the fallen knight armour and finished with the brass armour as i thought they looked cool! honestly I never thought to change my sword, once it starts getting upgraded it's just as powerful as any special sword and a lot lighter.
Just bought the game (After playing 1000+ hours of Elden Ring), I was wondering if I should try Corvian Scythe or Sellswords instead of the clumsy mining took thing Im using. :D
Ik it’s not the best but farron greatsword will be the reason I remember this game, the move set is just so fun and cool. Hoping Elden ring dlc drops a weapon with a similar move set.
its a fun weapon and its convenient but you're better off with a normal pyro flame and a random straight sword or curved sword. you'll do more spell and weapon damage that way
Did my first playthrough with dragonslayer greataxe (and yhorm’s machete before that) and I had lots of fun. Great weapons because of how fun they are.
I beat the game once with the sellsword twinblades, then the frayed blade, and then the longsword and shield (knight starter gear). I cannot express how easy it was to beat the game with the longsword and I dont even know why
It has fast attacks with little lag and stamina consumption, so you can easily dodge or block after swinging, vs other weapons swing slower and you’re more likely to be stuck in lag or have low stamina so you can’t spam dodge or block afterwords. In other games the long sword does this too but the damage isn’t as good.
As I thought. Spears in DS3 (in PvE) are not that great for some reason. Excluding the elemental ones. I tried Winged Spear and the Throwing Spear in the DLC. They have quite low damage in PvE. The range is fun though.
I’ve done probably 50 runs with the ExCGS. I really wish they kept that running r1 in Elden ring. The one the cgs’ have in Elden ring are wimpy as fuck
I feel like all these rankings should add a disclaimer: yes, claymore is top 10 in every souls game so its not gonna be in this video. also Black knight sword was a beast in pvp, determination on a greatsword was nut.
I like to keep it simple and the Great machette will always remain my favorite. those R1s are so damn satisfying. Yhorms Great machette is good too, but the stamina cost is a bit too high.
BTW for anyone who doesn't know. Curved greatsword 4th R1 attacks is stronger, faster and can't be parried, you also get a different sounds so you'll know.
chaos blade is my favorite It's basically frayed blade with better scaling, more damage, and the ability to parry (even though frayed blade has my favorite moveset out of any weapon in the game) the 1% hp loss can be basically midigated with sun princess ring, a miracle, or the dragon greatshield making for an absolute monster of a weapon with damage close to winblades and the highest dex scaling in the game Doesn't tear through bosses as easily as winblades but it's free if you can beat champion gundyr (even though winblades are still more easily obtainable, those are blatantly broken) I wouldn't say it's better than winblades, and i'm not even sure if it's list worthy but it's definitely my favorite
The astora ultra great sword was the best for pvp hands down for the longest time because you couldn't parry the rolling or running attack. Then they patched it and ruined my day 😂
These past few months I've been replaying DS3 and even Bloodborne. Went back to Elden Ring and It's almost like starting over again. I keep forgetting to jump! But playing the old games have given me a whole new appreciation for Elden Ring..This time WITHOUT a crutch of Dragon Incantations!
first thing that tripped me up going back to ds3 was pressing X to pick up items and touch bonfires etc. instead of triangle. and then when playing elden ring again recently it tripped me up in the reverse 😅
Just got into ds3 after going through the other 2 games. Should I use the claymore or the Corvian Scythe? Also what should I infuse with it? I had planned on making some type of faith build but I’ve hard dark uses faith so would that be better? Or should I infuse with heavy or sharp and wait to get lighting blade or the dark version of it?
@@youwy for the picks i do agree with, i just moved them around the list some. and tried to apply your same rule in not adding multiple weapons from the same class (otherwise there would be 4 greatswords on this list) 10. Splitleaf Greatsword: (no idea why a halberd is called a greatsword lol) as much as i love scythes, with the corvian being my favorite weapon in the game, scythes just suffer from lackluster damage and have less poise health compared to halberds, and halberds don't have the issue of occasionally missing enemies on stairs. 9. Yhorm's Great Machete: higher damage potential than the Dragonslayer Greataxe, and comes with Warcry to further buff its own damage. 8. Ledo's Great Hammer: boasts the highest physical AR among all greathammers at 66 strength, and has higher poise health compared to other greathammers, similar to Smough's (which has the second highest physical AR) 7. Lothric Knight Greatsword: nothing really new to say about this, just try it with a blessed infusion rather than lightning. youll get slightly less total AR but you have the benefit of doing more damage to undead enemies without letting them reanimate, and a small, negligible really, amount of health regen. 6. Dagger: doesnt do great damage on its own, but where it really shines is for critical attacks (who coulda seen this coming) got a 130 crit modifier, great scaling no matter which infusion you choose, and the hornet ring giving a 30% increase to critical damage. (Dagger talisman eat your heart out) 5. Harald Curved Greatsword: only chose this over the exile because the extra range it has, and the negligible loss in AR by using this instead. (unless youre on a dex build, in which case the Harald pulls ahead) 4. Lothric Knight Straight Sword: no notes really, you summed up everything about this one fine 3. Winged Knight Twinaxes: the absolute absurd damage potential these have when theyre buffed, thats it, thats the entire entry. 2. Claymore: didnt include the hollowslayer because its just really short, and im fairly certain the claymore had higher overall damage potential, plus it can be buffed. (however the hollowslayer does slightly more damage with each swing in its combo, similar to how elden ring perfroms. the drakeblood greatsword also shares this property). Didnt include the moonlight because the claymore just has the better R2s, with similar if not better overall damage. 1. Sellsword Twinblades: yeah theres nothing that can compete with these. wanted to add, the reasons people love the Fume Ultra Greatsword is because it does purely strike damage, which is good for almost everything in the game, and can aslo be buffed. also, it has the same poise health as most greathammers, except ledos, mornes, and smoughs. and for its weapon art, while youre blocking during the weapon art, you cant be guard broken.
These lists aren’t even that different lmao. Like I obviously disagree with some of these placements but I can see why you would rank them like this. You talked as if my list was completely wack
astora greatsword was pretty much as good as lothric knight greatsword, except heavy infusion. heavy A, sharp S, crystal/lightning S, chaos/dark A and A. good weapon art. bonus: in pvp you could do a nasty chasethebro true combo. 1 hit from straightsword, switch to Astora GS and do another R1 (but this time it had SS animation) and lasty, hit weapon art. the weapon art wasnt part of the true combo but it hit often, the double R1 was part of it tho.
Fucking love the hollowslayer greatsword, absolutely huge pick. Would've liked to see the Old Wolf Curved Sword, but I can't pretend anything beats out the exile curved greatsword. OWCS was amazing in pvp back in the day though, was pretty rare so a lot of people just didn't see that weapon art come out. I miss this game so much.
Does anyone know if you can catch I-frames from attacking? Because multiple times while i was fighting dancer of TBV i just steaight up didnt get staggered, or hurt from attacks (occasionally) when i hit her. And at 12:44 this guy just hit a knight with a great sword and completely negated the shield bash
Just did some testing at 44str and 90dex, and depends on the enemy sharp astora greatsword deals roughly 10pts of dmg less than lothric greatsword, surprisingly on some enemies with higher lightning resistance, Astora is superior. Considering it weights half of Lothric, has better moves etc and looks better, your list is highly subjective or pure bs bait for comments. (Which I fell for) Best greatsword is cathedral, as no enemy in the game has strike resistance and it stunlocks every standard foe.
Cestus literally gets more damage. Also Demon's Fist WA does very poor damage. I have done an entire playthrough with it and it doesn't perform anywhere near as good as these 10 do
Just a slight addition to the straight swords: If you start leveling out your character and are able to level strength, dex and luck the hollow broadsword becomes the highest physical dps straight sword in the game. If you now pair it with lightning blade or something similar (like I said, we're talking about SL300+) you can spam R1 with the damage of ultra greatswords.
I might be stupid or something but when you said the corvian scythe does more damage than friedes you displayed the comparison on screen and it clearly shows friedes doing way more damage? 110+77 frost=187 for friedes and corvian just has 97 and friedes has B scaling in dex, both have 100 bleed. So how does corvian do more damage?
Did you use mods while getting the gameplay? When I play ds3 the games looks chppy and bad at best, while your gameplay look amazing. Loved the video btw
Friede's scythe felt better when I used both of them when playing scythe's only play through, mostly because friede's scythe has more range and has more fun and better moveset which allows it to hit enemies with its sweetspots compared to something like corvian or great scythe's. And also it does more damage dispite having lesser scaling in dex, it's sweet spot works much different compared to corvian because for convian when you don't hit with sweetspot, it's damage is reduced by 10percent and Don't have any bonus for hitting with sweetspot either but friede gets 15percent more bonus damage for sweetspot and Don't lose any damage when not hitting with sweetspots.
You can do it abit in DS1, but not as effectively. You can do it in Bloodborne. You definitely CANNOT do it in DS2. In DS3 it is ridiculous since you can ultra spam R1 and win even with straightsword against most enemies. It is the worst balanced souls game (maybe except Demon Souls)
you can definitely do it in ds1 just as effectively, you ABSOLUTELY can do it in ds2 cause regardless if you deal enough poise damage enemies will be staggered. in ds1 all you need is a greatsword and even daggers are capable of staggering enemies in ds2@@ethanpispas4098
you are wrong with the longsword ar the only things that make the lothric knight longsword better than the regular longsword is the crit dmg and slightly longer reach but with your statement "it has the highest scaling therefore it does the most dmg" its simply wrong... base dmg is way way more important than scaling the regular longsword outdamages the lothric knight greatsword on heavy, sharp and refined cause 110 base dmg with A scaling beats 103 base dmg with S scaling any day as a souls veteran you should know that base dmg is more important than scaling the lothric knight greatsword might still be the best pic cause of my before mentioned points but not cause of the dmg and i see no mention of the millwood battle axe most people sleep on it but: ultra greatsword AR with longsword speed its does insane dmg

Its a solid weapon but defo not the best. Or top 10 for that matter. Greatswords DS3 onwards have been the average class. The Jack of All trades. Good if ur not sure, but not on eof thr best options out there
man, why do the kinesthetics of this game look so much more complete than elden ring?
The straight sword r1 spamming is the very reason why I think dark souls 3 is the easiest souls game.
I would just pick up the broad sword n go to town on everything til NG+20
Love the LKGS. Lightning infuse on my str/fth build always catches invaders by surprise. They think they can block is and boom, lightning damage through the shield. And then the weapon art always catches them by surprise. Then R1 spam like a noob til they die.
The heavy attack and follow up literally feels orgasmic when it hits
Hmm... interesting 😅 no vordt hammer? (Vordt of the Boreal Valley) I see. Great mace is good.
We know who vordt is
Black Knight weapons should at least be honorable mentions. Very high physical damage, great stagger potential and bonus damage against demons is very nice. Particularly the greatsword (not the ultra) is stupid good with perseverance allowing it to trade blows against basically anything.
As a sidenote, LKGS works better with a Blessed infusion, since the faith scaling applies to both the physical and lightning damage.
im playing ds3 bc ppl told me elden ring was easy using spirits and rivers of blood... i went into ds3 blind and picked up the sellswords and im STILL cheesing the game???
not really tho.
with sellswords L1 spam you still have to learn the bosses moveset,
dodge timing,
and also they really have bad range in every attack so you gotta learn positioning to stay close. (the sprint attack is a$$ too) so you gotta stay super close to the enemies/bosses = more risky. they are only good if you play hyper aggrssively and it takes skill to do so
you are not cheesing. also these weapons never hard counters any bosses like some certain other weapons do in ds3 due to their stagger or hyper armor or weird i-frame during attack animation etc
16:26 I don't think spaming L1 is a good argument of how DS3 es not a game where you only spam R1.
Lothric Knight Greatsword my beloved
Ayyy lmfao my beloved
Bro?!!!!??!?!?! Where's the black knight greatsowrd I swear to god it's one of the best weapons in the series
Old wolf curved greatsword, mace, Valorheart, the greatsword, sunlight straight sword, dragonslayer swordspear, partisan, black knight halberd. 👍
saw the sellsword twinblades coming lol.
Just bought the game (After playing 1000+ hours of Elden Ring), I was wondering if I should try Corvian Scythe or Sellswords instead of the clumsy mining took thing Im using. :D
For me nothing beats the Exile greatsword.
Super strong, Insane damage and scalling, looks cool af, fast, early acquired, can be infused etc...
same
No Astora Greatsword mention is crazy
best weapon art in the game
Blatantly outclassed by Lorians greatsword
@@aWandererr can you get an S scaling in dex or int on Lorians Greatsword? Exactly
@@aWandererrbiggest clown take ever 😂
@@downbeef69could be wrong but pretty sure lorians gets higher damage even going all into strength
Grave warden twin blades? S scalings and passive bleed? I’m not sure why people don’t consider them better than the sellsword blades
My guy. With the bleed infusion and then the Carthus Rouge buff they are ridiculous and have a cool move set. Definitely underrated
Ik it’s not the best but farron greatsword will be the reason I remember this game, the move set is just so fun and cool. Hoping Elden ring dlc drops a weapon with a similar move set.
I find the bloodhound fang to have a similar vibe to the farron greatsword. But the same, but there are similarities.
surprised there was no demon scar
Same, thing is busted.
idk. demon scar is more busted in pvp than pve
Technically, it's a Pyromancy Flame, so that might be why it's not mentioned. There weren't any Staves or Chimes on the list either
its a fun weapon and its convenient but you're better off with a normal pyro flame and a random straight sword or curved sword. you'll do more spell and weapon damage that way
Did my first playthrough with dragonslayer greataxe (and yhorm’s machete before that) and I had lots of fun. Great weapons because of how fun they are.
Dudes a goofball but knows his stuff on GAMES
Perfect timing, was just about to replay ds3
same here
Astora GS is the best because it looks the best. There I said it!
Rank the boss weapons for ds3 . It has the best boss weapons
I feel like all these rankings should add a disclaimer: yes, claymore is top 10 in every souls game so its not gonna be in this video.
also
Black knight sword was a beast in pvp, determination on a greatsword was nut.
My favorite weapon to this day in ds3 is the swordspear
Splitleaf greatsword?
I like to keep it simple and the Great machette will always remain my favorite. those R1s are so damn satisfying. Yhorms Great machette is good too, but the stamina cost is a bit too high.
Vordts greathammer is the best imo
BTW for anyone who doesn't know. Curved greatsword 4th R1 attacks is stronger, faster and can't be parried, you also get a different sounds so you'll know.
Broadsword is goated, most of the bosses first try, soul of cinder second try, nameless king third try, gael seventh try
chaos blade is my favorite
It's basically frayed blade with better scaling, more damage, and the ability to parry (even though frayed blade has my favorite moveset out of any weapon in the game)
the 1% hp loss can be basically midigated with sun princess ring, a miracle, or the dragon greatshield making for an absolute monster of a weapon with damage close to winblades and the highest dex scaling in the game
Doesn't tear through bosses as easily as winblades but it's free if you can beat champion gundyr (even though winblades are still more easily obtainable, those are blatantly broken)
I wouldn't say it's better than winblades, and i'm not even sure if it's list worthy but it's definitely my favorite
I love fast dps powerstance weapons, but they're so OP in both ER and DS3 😭
I personally don’t like the sellswords at all. I find them overhyped. I prefer the dragonslayer greataxe or exile great sword.
You'll have way more fun. Dragon incantations are so boring to use 🥱🥱🥱
I didn’t jump attack against a single boss in my ER playthrough tbh, just feels wrong😅
@@Dasqal
those ER jump attacks looks so unsatisfying
Straight sword R1 for victory👌
Lothric’s Holy Sword will never not be my favourite DS3 weapon, that Stance beam attack is too cool not to take into NG+
So Astora Greatsword just doesn't exist?
Still a great versatile weapon though. Not top 10 though
I know it’s low down on everyone else’s list but I always loved Yhorm’s great machete for both pve and pvp.
Old Wolfs is the best curved greatsword, its restore HP with consecutives hits and stacks with pontiffs eyes. Perfect for PvE.
*sees great mace *
Forgive me Lord but, it's time for me to go back to the old me...
Broadsword has better AR than LKSS, the only downsides that the Broadsword has is its slightly lower range and less crit damage
The Broadsword also doesn't get the thrusting attacks of the LKSS
Astora’s great sword is my favorite
Same bro I always use it and spam poke att with R2 lol. The sharp infuse version is so busted. Its so long and light too
I always thought the Lothric UGS was best with a blessed infusion.
Bruh Astora greatsword not on this list is criminal
sellsword Twinblades remind me of AoT 's Dual Blades
Can we talk about the drip in the video tho, I need all those armor combination info asap
What about the classic black knight ultra greatsword?
Friede's scythe, my beloved
This list is awesome, ty broski. New dark souls run hyped up for elden ring dlc running through the old games. Bloodborne list next :)
Yes, replying to myself..... I do not expect a bloodborne teirlist. Since it's on an ancient ps4 😢 dreams may come true with a remaster
@@MapleOnTapthere will never be a remaster unfortunately
This has got to be the worst top 10 I've ever seen
What’s your top 10 then?
@@youwy for the picks i do agree with, i just moved them around the list some. and tried to apply your same rule in not adding multiple weapons from the same class (otherwise there would be 4 greatswords on this list)
8. Ledo's Great Hammer: boasts the highest physical AR among all greathammers at 66 strength, and has higher poise health compared to other greathammers, similar to Smough's (which has the second highest physical AR)
(Dagger talisman eat your heart out)
5. Harald Curved Greatsword: only chose this over the exile because the extra range it has, and the negligible loss in AR by using this instead. (unless youre on a dex build, in which case the Harald pulls ahead)
4. Lothric Knight Straight Sword: no notes really, you summed up everything about this one fine
Hollowslayer is bae , hopefully we get that moveset in Shadow of the Erdtree
Knight's greatsword in elden ring has exactly the same light attack sequence, not heavy tho
@@senjai77308 yeah I know, need the same heavy as well. The thrust is too good 👍
where farron great sword
(Which I fell for)
Best greatsword is cathedral, as no enemy in the game has strike resistance and it stunlocks every standard foe.
No Demon's Fist? Bad list
Cestus literally gets more damage. Also Demon's Fist WA does very poor damage. I have done an entire playthrough with it and it doesn't perform anywhere near as good as these 10 do
@@youwy Sounds like a Skill Issue to me tbh. Also drip > minmaxing
@@SMNBLMRDM then go find a list based on how cool they look then 🙄
@@youwy Nope. Demon Fist > Everything else
@SMNBLMRDM cry about it 😂
Just a slight addition to the straight swords: If you start leveling out your character and are able to level strength, dex and luck the hollow broadsword becomes the highest physical dps straight sword in the game.
You can r1 spam in all of fromsofts games. It isnt specific to ds3
yeah but it’s better in DS3 by far to spam it
Much easier to do it in 3 without being punished
You can do it abit in DS1, but not as effectively. You can do it in Bloodborne. You definitely CANNOT do it in DS2. In DS3 it is ridiculous since you can ultra spam R1 and win even with straightsword against most enemies. It is the worst balanced souls game (maybe except Demon Souls)
@@ethanpispas4098you can do it in ds2. My lightning mace r1 destroys
you can definitely do it in ds1 just as effectively, you ABSOLUTELY can do it in ds2 cause regardless if you deal enough poise damage enemies will be staggered. in ds1 all you need is a greatsword and even daggers are capable of staggering enemies in ds2@@ethanpispas4098
you are wrong with the longsword ar
the only things that make the lothric knight longsword better than the regular longsword
is the crit dmg and slightly longer reach
but with your statement "it has the highest scaling therefore it does the most dmg"
its simply wrong... base dmg is way way more important than scaling
the regular longsword outdamages the lothric knight greatsword
on heavy, sharp and refined
cause 110 base dmg with A scaling beats 103 base dmg with S scaling any day
as a souls veteran you should know that base dmg is more important than scaling
the lothric knight greatsword might still be the best pic cause of my before mentioned points
but not cause of the dmg
and i see no mention of the millwood battle axe
most people sleep on it but:
ultra greatsword AR with longsword speed
its does insane dmg
