- Welcome back to the Metal Detecting NYC channel. Today I'm going on a new metal detecting adventure on Heybike to the beach. Is Heybike a good brand? Will big waves make it difficult to find treasures and jewelry? Let's find out!

Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 22 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. I am a treasure hunter. So in addition to metal detecting, I go mudlarking at sites in New York City. Think of mudlarking as metal detecting without a metal detector.

So every day at midnight sushi, Häagen-Dazs, taco bell and jello get locked up again? What would happen if you had not unlocked said items and I gave You sushi and you ate? Can unlocked items be saved for a day upon which it has not been unlocked?
For metal detectorists, they need to make those ebikes as trikes and include a remote with a "follow me" function so you don't have to go back and get the bike.
Wow! Thats a great idea!
Just one more thing you have to keep your eye on that will get stolen in my mind. I'd rather walk.
Nothing to do with your video today …but … you are fantastic. I enjoy every single time i watch. I wish to God i would have had a teacher like you growing up. Your students are extremely lucky. Take care and continue making an impact 😁
AWWWW! You made my day Mary Ann! Thank you!
The Delorean of all bicycles at minute 3:24
Bike Tyson…that is awesome! Great video as always.
Bike Tyson! Nice!
Welcome to the world of e-bikes. I've had mine for years. I live near beaches so I can ride from home without carrying all the gear. I'm 74 years old.
Nice!
As an fyi, probably not a good thing to start off at a higher gear regardless of the e-bike power level you're using. Instead, try a lower gear then ramp up the power once you get going. This puts less wear and tear on the components. Check out your owner's manual. I used to do the same as you; took off at 4th or 5th gear with the power cranked up. Then I pretty much left it in top gear and used my pedals and power to scoot around. I actually read the manual, after about 6 months ownership and apparently I was doing it all wrong! Regardless, love your channel and keep up the good work.
Edit-try letting out some of the tire pressure in softer sand although my 2 cents says just walk it through the worst parts. Edit again, lol. If you take it out on trails, be aware if they say no motorized vehicles, then they probably include electric bikes in that category. It might be enforced or not, and probably the local cops might not care; just something to be aware of.
Thank you! I am learning and I will try that!
That bike is awesome 👏
Im going to get a rack attached to the back of my car for the highway. I could always put it inside but I want to use this frequently.
HA! when i first started watching this i was thinking this was going to a "Hold my beer and watch this" video.
LOL
Awesome, another handy equipment. Keep up the good work ... Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you!
Yes I have an adventure bike also, check out my upcoming videos thru the woods over the river to the farm fields we go
Merril. Wider wings just might gain altitude and escape the deadly dry sand. Just an inspired thought.
LOL
Thank you once again,I been thinking of the same thing, seeing that gas isn't going to change much on cost, still very informative video,go go go metal detect, thank you again.
Thats the other advantage! Gas!
You have to be the coolest teacher I know. Nothing like I had here in Eastern NC!!
I absolutely love my e-bike for detecting. Rode across hundreds of acres of hay and corn fields on it. Makes those big fields a bit more manageable.
Love your new ride. Lets you travel further, for sure. Great video.
Pretty great news... I'm waiting! Watching you frolic is always great news!
Just btw Merrill - I'm doing a 300 SUB GAW - silver and other coins! Yes...I've managed to pass the 330 club entrance exam test... eventually!! 😁😁
That is fantastic Vossie!!!
Man o' man am I, a hurting and angry puppy. Last month my scope by CKG broke. Because I have used the same scoop for the past three years, I figured it was just old. So I bought another one from CKG. It broke on the first outing, peeling like a can of sardines. I went to your site to look up the honey badger.... Are you freaking kidding me on that price. Looks like I'll just go buy another CKG.😢
Don’t worry I’m working on one that’s made in China for people who want an “intro level scoop”. Will it be the equivalent to the HBS. No. But, how much do you think I make off of each scoop? It’s made in America and it’s well made and made to last. That is how I want it. I sure can create options and I will but I’m not going to be shamed on the price for something that has sold out three times. If it broke on you twice, perhaps look for other options. It doesn’t have to be mine but think about what happened and plan for it with your next purchase.
@@MetalDetectingNYCMaybe I'll wait for your China scoop, think it will be out by next summer?
I dont beach hunt enough to spend $500 on a scoop, I do dig in the grass a lot and bought an american steel shovel by predetor tools, after international shipping and USD to CAD exchange rate, it was a $220 shovel
@@digginggopher I get it. I really do. Im trying to get it done by January.
E-bikes were the only way to get around here after the hurricanes last year, the beach was closed to traffic for months. Only downside is as you use it, others discover your method to get around and before you know it, you have more mobile competition. They need to offer a bigger discount for your viewers Merrill, that was a great advertisement for them and a very good recommendation. 😉👍
Did I see folding pedals early in the video when you were taking it out of the back of the car? If it is as appeared, that is a huge help for laying it down and getting it in and out of a car or truck. Have not seen others with that feature. A game changer for tossing in a car!!
Yes it has folding pedals.
I need one for those " trails in the woods " be so nice to just buzz out to my detecting hounding spots
Yes exactly! More time and new possibilities!
Great video Merrill. I've been looking at E-Bikes to use for my tot lot shuffle metal detecting. Would be great to jet around from one tot lot to another.
One ring is better than no ring. Have learned a lot from you, thanks for the videos.
Always wanted a fat tire e-bike for my beach adventures
Its a difference maker!
What beautiful sky
Merrill, I enjoy your videos. Thanks. Also thanks for teaching these kids at school.
ok. im jealy. I want one .... but haven't quite gotten rich metal detecting....yet......any day now 🤣 but looks like a nice bike ! thanks for testing it out for every one so we can see how fun and useful they can be ! looks like easy fun !!
I use my ebike to scout fields in the country, looking for indications of habitation such as old glass farm implements etc. I hunt exclusively in the country and having an ebike allows me to scout and look for older portions inhabited back in the day.
I was waiting for you to have some great finds
But 😂 when you went to ride back all that way only soft sand was available so it became a Push Bike 😂😂
Great vlog Merrill keep it up mate
Regards Tony
Thank you Tony!
Thank you for sharing hey bike
Thank you!
Cool Way to Detect.
Thanks for the Vid.
Nice bike I really like it.I enjoyed your video.
Thanks Jimmy!
i like this videos barely any finds thats real metal detecting
LOL! YEP! I used all my luck up in August!
Take the hey bike along the wooded trails to the cellar hole ❤❤❤
Yes indeed!
Thats what do ......E -bike + D2 = :)
@@marcus78937 yep!
Thanks for great vid.
Thank you!!!
BMX Space bike! That's the way to get around on the wet, it really moves out. Watch out Merrill, you'll put thoughts in the homeless people's minds to become detectorist. 🤣
Hey, I know that beach. Your the reason I can't find anything on Long Island, lol.
Not me this fall! Work has sucked me in!!!! :(
Great job sir! I plan on using my ebike during beach hunts too. I want to put a surfboard bike rack attached to the bike. I think it will help transport my detector and pole scoop easier. Thanks for your awesome videos!
Sounds great!
It's like woooaaahhhh it's trippy man! I'm like having flash backs or something maaaannnnn!! I want an Ebike!!! They are too expensive for my blood man!!!
I’ve rode it to work several times. Enough to negate one tank of gas which for my car is 45 bucks. I get it that the price might seem high. With use it saves you money. Then again if you use a regular bike you get the same thing and don’t even have to charge.
Love the bike especially in sand geez❤️❤️
Wanted an Ebike for yrs for the reason of :Not wanting to pay for parking: I could stay on the beach all day long. Good Video.. Happy Hunting
1.21 Gigawatts!
Great Scott!
I bought an e-bike by Lectric for the same reason. And it folds. Be sure to clean out sand from motor area/gears.
Yes indeed! I hosed it down after using it!
👋 Hello Merrill great video and nice Bike 👍
Thank you Willie!
Nice bike😎
Thank you!
I got my e bike two weeks ago, and I cant wait to use it to help me metal detect somewhere in nomanslands!
great video Merrill ,my wife and I bought a couple too this summer,we love them . But like another guy said get a good locking system ,people love to steal them
Get some rear panier bags or old fashioned saddle bags then you get it all in, but the scoop.there may be a front rack and maybe a basket for that model😊
💯💯💯
I went to a concert on Jones Beach circa 1997 or so. Huzzah!
Suggest a handheld GPS for finding yourself around in the dark, in the woods, etc.
Love your content...
Thank you so much!
we found 2 1812 war era horse shoes on the st lawrence in the last 10 days .
Nice video Merrill. Love the bike👋👍
I just got my first electric bike in April, it was about the same price as yours but is cheap amazon brand, the only thing I like about mine better is is it is in mountain bike form so I feel alright taking it off road on trails
I dont wear a helmet while driving so I stay in electric gear one on flat and electric gear two up hill, I find gears three and four just eat up the battery for a very small boost in speed, and I dont want to eat pavement so I go slow
If I knew better I would have waited till just before winter to buy, even the bike I bought is a few hundred cheaper now, I thought about returning it and re buying it, but nah dont feel like going through that trouble
I’d like to see Adele on one of those bikes.
Shes a pick up truck kind of gal!
Beautiful beach Merrill. Thanks for sharing your videos :D
Thank you!
I hunt easy to access spots because, like me, people are lazy 😂
Also that's were the rings are 😏
True. Often the easy spots are high volume spots.
Really nice Merrill!
I would love an electric vehicle to transport equipment on the wide beaches, but I would need a truck😭
Nice ride, perhaps it has walk assist. My e mtb does, just wondering🙂 and congrats on the ring. Have a good week.
I get that e-bikes are a great way to get to the beach, but it seems to me if it’s too far to walk to detect it’s probably too far for people to play and sprinkle targets like happy beach fairies. Maybe fewer finds for the effort.
Field 6 is a beach. 😲. Well I never we learn new things every day. 🤓.
Top incrível gostei da scooter kkk
Not sure if I like the new irate metal detectors. I realize there is probably more going on than appears, but indiana tones is mainly an equinox 800 guy. I looked through his videos, and hardly see any comparisons or him using different detectors. Hopefully he can diversify into nexus or rutus or even xp and nokta! 😛
I am lending him all of my detectors. I have some big news coming up.
Go,Go,Go,👍 ATB 🦀
Lol nice
Lots of sand
That would so take the burden off those 1 mile walks to get to some of those remote beaches. Exited to get there but the walk back is just the worst.
One would think the 4 inch fat tire wouldn't sink in the sand so much...
Thanks
Salt water probably not good. I'd be afraid of hitting a soft sand pocket and going head over teacups! Electric bikes are a great idea though.😊
Using that bike as a new tool and get you further away from the mass of trash could get you old gold from 1700 Spanish galleon. Just never know until you swing over it
That is way cool I can see many hobbyists not just detectorists that could use that. Question if you peddle also does tat recharge it or not? Just wondering as if it goes flat you will be lugging it.
If you pedal it’s a traditional bike. Pedaling in addition to using the throttle will increase speed.
How heavy is that electric bike? Are you able to get it in and out of the car without difficulty? I was thinking of getting one to ride to the shipwreck sites on the Florida Treasure Coast. The shipwreck sites are usually about 2-3 miles from the beach access points. It would save me a lot of walking there and back. By the way, Jones Beach field 4 is usually open year-round along with field 6. They have the bathrooms open also during the winter. However, they lock the gates at sundown so you wouldn't want to get locked in at night.
Not a good idea to go out at low tide far away and try to go home at high tide. LOL. No more wet sand to ride on.
You are correct! That would be an ordeal!
I do believe that's called time dilation
and just aside...seems like youtube is a bit lazy showing me when you got a new video out i have to search for them which sucks a little greetings from bavaria
You have to try to go slow and put the detector out to see if you hit a target!!
LOL right?
You have to try it!!! God level is calling!!
What's your big news?
You going to retire and move to Florida?
🌞🏝⛱️
Big news is coming very soon (around November 20th).
How many rings do you have now it would be cool to see if they all would fit on you and your family's fingers
Hello Merrill,
Could you please ook at my question placed under the video
" the game changer is here 2 new Nokta's " Thanks in advance 👍🏻😎
you need a basket so you can secure your stuff better
Some tassels a basket ,rainbow flag your on the way
20mph -40mph…hope you are wearing a helmet?
