  • Welcome back to the Metal Detecting NYC channel. Today we're doing a woods hunt and break a big life-changing news. Within the woods of New York City we find an old untouched farm, and our metal detecting finds there are quite unbelievable. Our treasure hunting in the woods resulted in a lot of relics from 17th or 18th century. Watch till the end to see these rare finds. Don't forget to leave a comment below and subscribe to my channel. My kind of hunting! One thing I share in common is that most old homesites that as abandoned have very few coins. In my area there are many abandoned farms that were repossessed during the depression. Others were taken for unpaid taxes. I don't think many of the people had any money to lose.
    😢
On the other hand, these places are loaded with interesting relics that tell a story!

Go back there with the Manticore in fast mode, 1 region all tones, enhanced audio with stabiliser on 8 recovery speed 6. I pull coins out of tough sites like that and the stabiliser with the update changed the game. I pull coins out of holes with nails but rarely ever dig a nail by itself. This is done on sites ive hammered with the 800 and 900 and AT pro. My dad has the 900 and he only found one coin each day over 3 separate hunts while I dug multiple coins and silvers. He was like dam that Manticore is making me feel jealous. Try it out you might be surprised.

@@centralpacificexplorer3915search UA-cam and find videos put out by detector comparison called Manticore vs Deus head to head part 1 although he did 4 live Manticore vs Deus II head to head over two weeks Carter who's the guy who makes serious detecting videos in the North East and diving crushed the Manticore using the Deus II in that tough New England soil. As one guy hit a target he called what the detector ID'd it at then the other guy swept the hole and made his call. Not once did the Deus false over iron where as the Manticore called iron nails dimes several times and Carter with the Deus says he thinks it's iron. On several of the other targets the Deus hit an Indian and a barber in a ton of nails and the Manticore could not lock on them and he said he thinks it's iron. Not only did the Deus get those two correct Carter called a silver dime and an Indian and that's what they were!!! It's right there live to see. They did this 4 times in 4 separate videos trying to get the Manticore dialed in to stop falsing but the closest they got lost some of the deeper coins. I'm talking 10 to 12 inches deep in holes full of nails. He got elbow deep like 14 to 16 inches on an extremely only gold brooch that had me drop my jaw and the Manticore didn't give so much as a peep over it. Those videos in mineralized iron infested ground and Merrills videos getting extreme depth on rings sold me on getting the Deus II as being top gun right now. I've seen the Legend give the Manticore hell but I haven't seen anyone go toe to toe with the Deus yet.
And I'm not a troll I have 45 years of detecting before neither company existed yet and I'm only offering everybody the chance to see these videos to check it out so YOU can draw your own conclusion. I'm not trashing the Manticore I'm just saying there's unbiased true live non planted hunts that so far it stands Deus 4 Manticore 0 head to head and they said another will come out if they can get the Manticore to lose the iron. In fact in Hunt 3 a third guy used the Nox 800 and the Manticore was clearly better and deeper then the Nox but it still falses over iron. Sorry but it is what it is I'm not being a d*ck like I'm sure you think by that troll comment. Watch the videos yourself and listen to this guy and you won't question their skills as suspect. They have 80 years of hunting between the two and work with the engineers to suggest where updates might need to be changed. Carter is a great guy he will show you the exact settings he's using and tell you what to change in certain situations to help anyone.
So before you take cheap shots at someone you should be informed about true facts not "what you heard" go SEE it for yourself. If I'm wrong then please let me know what I didn't see right.

@@trolltakeryou made the right choice. There's videos out there by a guy who will explain in detail which way is best to set the detector. I'm sure your doing well but he has some great tips on switching the frequency to double check the ID that has his calling the target correctly pretty high percentage wise he's impressive and I don't say that about too many detectorists. You'll be glad you watched knowing the Deus is capable of serious depth with a highly accurate ID. Good luck hunting

Smaller ones have a slightly threaded inside and screwed down onto the horn and even they often used a set pin (nail) to make sure they stayed put

I recently discovered your videos and thoroughly enjoy them. What amazes me is my son will watch your videos. Hes 7, diagnosed as non verbal and on the autism spectrum. Its rare to find videos (besides old trains) that he enjoys. Him and i started with the detecting hobby about a year ago when my uncle gave us a whites brand xlt detector. We found out he actually loves metal detecting. Its not easy to find something we can do together and bond over. Of course the world has to be cruel....to the piece of trash who broke into our apartments locked storage room and stole it , you better pray we never meet. Your actions turned me from a non violent person to one boiling with rage. You stole the one thing my son was passionate about. The one activity that got him out of the autism shell and made him smile. I had no idea how expensive it was. Its going to take me a while to be able to replace it. For anyone reading this if you run into a used white xlt in western ny that seems way to cheap please let me know. I really wouldnt physically hurt them but id have them arressted. Sorry for venting, keep those videos coming please.

When the buttons are there the coins should be also and usually a gold coin too somewhere. Gold comes up last often

Reminds me of “ The curse of oak island “ i was watching that show consistently over the last 4-5 years i believe and it was fun seeing some of the old finds dating back to the 16-1700’s. Gary dreyton who metal detects on the show found a really REALLY nice ring in Florida from the 1715 Spanish ship wreck. Or at least that’s what he said. Good stuff merril 👍🏼😁

At 9:48, that looks like the base of an oil lamp or candelabra. The piece with opalescent stone might be a small brooch that would secure a fichu for a lady's dress neckline.

@3:00 pretty much bet you 50 cents to a dollar if you clean the face of that some more you will find a civil war era eagle button (I see the shield) @5:48 flower button (I have an exact match here with the shank) @7:26 likely a broken cuff link , @8:30 stripper clip (older style rifle Ammo clip) good work, clean that button from @3:00 up more and let me know, 50 cents says it’s an eagle button

Yes I can identify that button. I researched and read about this several years ago. What it is was when America started getting colonist said why should we keep buying buttons from England let's make our own.so England said our buttons are better buy ours. They started stamping England's buttons with a crown we started stamping our buttons with an eagle. Now this competition couldn't have lasted long because out of my 200 buttons I have one with an eagle none with a crown they seem to b rere. But I do have several with Laurel wreaths and some with stars

Awesome Video! I really need your advice and i know you are not biased toward any of your detectors. I want to start metal detecting with a high end machine. Mainly land no water .I know i dont have the experience but im willing to learn. Which of these 3 detectors would you recommend in order? Manticore, deus 2, Legend. Cost would not be a factor.Thank you for your time!

Merril, dont listen to the sidewalk detectors that say this spot has been hunted because no coins turned up on the first hunt. They have not spent very much time in the woods.
That spot has never been hunted due to the large amount of brass targets you are finding. In any spot the brass is the easiest and the first targets to find. The coins are there,
you will have to clean all of the other targets out and then come back and hunt low and slow.@@MetalDetectingNYC
