hit rank match got matched against Vlov It's ok I played this character before Main'd him at one point No way I'm losing Besides, I'm also a zoner player How hard could this be Round starts Got in Vlov is in corner now Vlov HEAT There's no returning to neutral It's his turn now Vloved
Canonically, Vlov can barely move around when he’s in ice mode, it takes a lot more energy for him to walk and jump around so they could nerf his ice mode by nerfing his movement a bit. Perhaps changing his forward dash to a hop or maybe slowing his overall movement speed. Getting better zoning at the cost of worse movement seems like a fair trade. That way shielding would work better as he wouldn’t be able to close the gap instantly. He’d still be high tier but he would at least be a bit more manageable.
I saw EYYSEE at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen green bandannas in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bandannas and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and rested me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bandanna and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by popping off really loudly.
21:20 This is one of the worst parts about fighting him imo. He already has 12k health but with the way he constantly charges in neutral and has easy access to post combo heats it can feel like he has 15k or higher.
My hot take is that if Vlov strenghts come from universal mechanics design, then their "correction" would come from changes on the universal mechanics. Specifically, meter gain decay. I feel UNI, dfc and melty lumina have walked more toward a meter management heavy design. What is fine, there is not much of a escape from it on modern fighting games, be it SF6, strive, MK or dbfz. Even more legacy heavy games like tekken started to reinforce this aspect. It is just too useful, you can give every char flashy and cool stuff, stuff that bridge their archetype weakness or give them defensive mechanics but gate all of it behind a meter paywall. But if games goes toward this direction, then meter gain decay after you spend it should be heavier to prevent loops. My hot take is that if Vlov depends on meter both for neutral or defense, he shouldn't be able to keep on the loop for long. The meter gain decay after expending meter should be much harsher, maybe not only for him but universally.
I think I understand what you’re saying. If I remember correctly, SCFB (Soft Circle French Bread) nerfed the Moon Gauge gain and in my personal opinion, Vlov gets a ton of mileage out of using his Moon Skills. Not being a Vlov main myself, I’m not entirely sure if this a correct assessment but I don’t see Vlovs regularly using meter outside of 22C and ending combos with super. While increasing meter decay would certainly help slow him down, I honestly don’t think he really needs meter; he just 4BCs in and it’s his turn. My biggest issue is his inherent character mechanic of Fire to Ice. Why he’s the only character that gets it is beyond me and in my opinion it should either be given to everyone in some capacity or change his mechanics to be in-line with the rest of the cast.
All I want is for Vlov defenders to stop saying his defense is bad when he not only has great offensive tools, but the statement is-and has *always* been-the least false(as far as I’m willing to go, take it or leave it) at close range where the shield RPS is strongest and does the best job at compensating for a lack of strong character specific tools. And between a fast disjointed low that anti airs, a good jab for stopping IADs, a goated 4BC when it comes to both slipping under air approaches and catching pretty much anything that’s not a shield OS or invulnerable, an ice fireball followup with a backwards hitbox big enough to OS fucking shield B, among other things, he’s never been as completely lacking in that department as someone like Akiha or the maids. And he has better neutral than all of them put together.
I hate fighting this character so much....but it's good practice against a zoner and test's if you know how to use the shield mechanics. That and also because rank A-EX players can use nobody but this character apparently, on my end anyway.
UPDATE: I proceeded to the grind the shit out of this game to the point where my defense/offense is hella godlike. I then also proceeded to go online and fight vlov and didn't lose a single set which I surprised even myself. I'm a C rank player btw and this guy was S+ Don't give up fellas! I main Shiki so there's no excuses. Grind, Focus on what you need to improve on, and go for it! Also thanks scrawt cause I did use this video to help me you're a real one.
Hey scrawt, it seems on my end your baseline volume is much lower than other videos on UA-cam. If I'm alone on thinking this then disregard, but all your videos have been coming in quiet in comparison to the average UA-cam video. Keep up the good content
Eyy! Thanks for the feedback. I will look into it. I usually lower the bg music by like 20 decibels just because of how loud the tracks are so i might be overdoing it
I don't think Vlov is broken if shield mechanics did what they should intend to do, making shield mechanics more polarizing so they are both more unsafe but also more accurate in countering certain things when called out right what philosophy I'd aim for, is something like third strike parry, taking big risks for good pay offs if it's rightfully deserved
Personally, I dig his design because he's sort of like a boss character that goes into their awakening after you've taken their initial HP bar. Ice is stronger, but I think that balances him out, especially considering his weaknesses. I like 'em as is. They could nerf ice little and up his fire but meh, that thins the dynamic and I wouldn't find that as fun to play against. It's MBTL so I don't even think it matters.
If you enter ice mode you can’t lose a round. That to me seems like the biggest flaw if you have to rely on ice mode. I think it would be beneficial to rank ice and fire. Mode separately
This character is the reason why my FGC wont play melty. He's so obviously broken. I don't even know how to respond when they bring it up. I'm just like... Yeah, this character is broke, and you will fight this character all day online.

This thing is what is between me and S rank survival.
Make analytical vids please. These are really nice for match up knowledge and general game awareness. Good stuff :)

Misread "Broken 6BC" as "Broken BBC" and got confused

third strike parry is not a big risk option
Good to see a matchup video around.
