Hey guys, I know this thing has a lot of weaknesses compared to the original version, it's bigger, heavier, some functions are removed...but I made this for three purposes: - First: Most of the time i work in a single place so i don't need portability, so big and heavy is not a big deal. - Second: My work does not require a very powerful system, so core i3 and 6gb ram is enough. (but i have upgraded ssd to replace old hdd) :) last: I just want to try designing a new shape and hope it helps inspire me in my work. In short, I thank you all for your suggestions, if anyone has any advice please comment below to let me know. Thanks for watching ! Don't forget to support me by subscribe to the channel.
thats what i say early, this designe is really buty, if i will be have this skill and i make that thing i will by use this as decoration not for work, because is to weak, and hardware sad to me is go old fast
I think this make sense if you want another small computer in front of your desktop computer monitor, this actually pretty inspiring, keep up the good work!
He has used all kinds of engineering Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical in one video... Excellent art with science brother... Hats off...
he just recycled his old laptop for himself and shared the creative process of making it, and of course its not for everybody, no one design can fit every people. his design fits him for his purpose. idk why the bad comment. Good job bro, i hope i can do something like this in the future.
years ago i didnt have much money but wanted a pc, i bought a laptop with a broken screen and removoved the scrren, then mounted the laptop to the back of a cheap walmart tv, it was like an all in one pc for me lol
To everyone bashing this and calling it useless who cares they are being creative and doing what they enjoy this isnt a product for you to buy so why do you care about practicality I bet they had fun making it and thats all that matters.
Old tech can be really useful. I found an old laptop in with a missing hard drive in a skip outside of a house about 8 years ago. I took it home and it sat there for maybe 6 years until I decided to dismantle it and buy an adapter for the screen. It was a gamble but it worked and that screen served me for about a year and a half as a second monitor; until I was able to upgrade. I still have the thing and just might use it as a basic display for photos and images, maybe cinema posters. I see a few comments suggesting this was a waste of time, but I think it's a neat looking thing. Kind of a post-apocalyptic feel to it. To me, flawless and efficient design, or functionality are not necessarily the point here; it's more like the artistry. And the fact that it's a unique piece, which you'll hopefully enjoy using looking at because of the aesthetics.
Just a few observations:- at 4:41 - those brackets should have been (countersunk) screwed into the back plate first then mount the LCD, at 6:48 - should have checked the level before you started, at 9:59 - those sponge mountings wont last 5 minutes, at 12:46 - there is no insulation between the copper strips and it will short out, at 13:25 - you went to the trouble of underlighting the "pc" but didn't bother to get a backlit keyboard that would have been more useful (and funky), at 13:34 - you have put a lamp on top of the monitor that will create glare and and make the screen difficult to view Apart from that, not a bad attempt.
Love it. Even if it works same as the laptop and the laptop is portable. I would prefer to work with this 1000 times more than the laptop. This looks way to cool and the effort that you put it is enough for you to be motivated to sit and work on it. Also a great + for the video edit and music.
Hey, man... I love the project. The final look is very Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell style. I would like to do the same thing if I had an old laptop. To me, more than a tech project, this is a piece of art project I would love to have on my desk just for fun. In fact, I might buy an old laptop on eBay just to play with it the way you did. The only thing here, get rid of Windows and install a very cool Linux OS.
It just gave me idea of rebuilding the old smart phones into one foldable phone 😉. Sometimes, wasting time in the mid night gives you briliant idea's.. LoL 🤣
Good job! It looks great. I like the combination of materials that completely changed the game both in design and usability, with its big desk lamp, and improved keyboard. I allways wanted a PC with an retro look, like vintage terminals. Yours gave me some inspiration too!
This is sick!! Ignore the critiques idk why every system has to be the same with the best Ram and gpu etc when you made it for your own use lol. This is great I hope to make my own one day!
Hello, great video, I also make computers with laptops that are broken or that people get rid of. they are very easy and very inexpensive to make and have a unique and original design. Maybe I should make a video of it too. Some people seem interested.
just my 2cents, if no upgrading or modification to improve the system performance, modding like this doesnt serve purpose other than make a lot of new work.... perhaprs attaching some external gpu adapter and adding a gpu, increasing the ram size and maybe custom cooling will do better
You can convert any laptop into a desktop by going into settings and set “Action on closing the lid” to “Do Nothing”. With an external keyboard and external mouse and external monitor (via HDMI) you now have a full desktop experience after closing the lid.
nice video , i agree with "some comments, " it was just a project and video content, no real purpose except that you can do it, i appreciate that, cant wait for more projects.
стиль - голая сила... 🤓👍 шикарно... по мне надо сделать регулировки наклона экрана и клавы...а ещё динамики вывести красиво, а ещё..... 🤓 в общем дерзай🤝
There's a lot of people here insisting this is useless and its not practical. Guess what? It isn't supposed to be - that's what a passion project is. Doing things just for the sake of it and because you're capable of it. This isn't a fucking "product'' for you to buy. If you don't like the video - don't fucking watch it.
This looks beautifully sci-fi or cyberpunk and because of that I love how this looks. I hope you keep stylising pc’s, you’ve got incredible creative designs! Hope to see a 2.0!
this is the type of stuff i do every day, salvaging stuff from broken things and making something cool with it, and then maybe using it for a month cuz i have 2 done by that time XD
Why does everyone keep complaining of how old it looks, unlike other channels, he actually only used the laptop itself instead of buying separate peripherals. I can speak with my experience since I have the exact laptop, albeit a bit more powerful. The monitor doesn’t work so I converted it to a desktop pc instead, but the process is still pretty tedious. I bet you can’t even get out to create one for yourself, so you can’t just “complain”
the original monitor brackets would have worked if you put a piece of paper against the back and marked the holes, then transfered the holes to the board, then unscrewed the brackets and screwed them to the board, and finally screwed that all to the monitor.
that old laptop actually looks good for it's age, slim build and compact. you made it aesthetically less pleasing to be completely honest and also less portable anymore.
The thing is good but what you just did is removed the keyboard from the laptop and used its cpu and screen what's the point of it then? No hate good work ❤ but I wanna know how's it ladeck when it's just a laptop but as a desktop , no changes to the ram or processor or even the gpu of it
Much easier to clean via compressed air or to access parts to clean thoroughly and to actually see any accumulation of dust happening as it happens unlike a lot of laptops. All computers are prone to dust in dusty environments, this is better for ongoing maintenance. The only issue dust causes is to do with overheating parts when it builds up on them too much and restricting air flows.
@@Rikushiiii a few people have said "aw but dust though" just bares mentioning laptops get dusty inside anyway and this is pretty easy to manage compared to some design laptops cases where it's really hard to access the fans and can have bad thermals around other parts due to enclosure not having good airflow. If the laptop is not keeping clean on the outside its probably gathering gunk on the inside also.

I want you to make a computer with a cell phone :'D
you vastly improved the typing experience 👍

Hats off...
Real work, with the messy bits and issues, glad to see a design video without it faked so everything is great on the first try.
so much messages full of hate and critics in this comment section, don't pay attention to them please, I really liked your project
Thank you :)

Yo your video was suddenly recommended to me and I thought it was pretty cool

Right? That's laptop was useless as it was to most people. At least now it gets to have new life as a learning tool and art.
"They say he carved his spoon from a larger wooden spoon"
Very cool. I really like the industrial combined with the organic look of the wood. Easy access if wanting to upgrade components, too.
I just came up with a new vocabulary after watching this video.

Its good to restore old laptops and adding newer features that can add plenty of technicalities as rich as it was newly constructed.

I just made my old laptop into a desktop and good thing it is still good for simple work
I will use it for making Linux distro
Put 2 More laptops in a desktop tower, and make it a supercomuter
I wanna watch that
before starting the video i wanna appreciate the owner to take care of a laptop that even after 10 years looks almost brand new

Brilliant it looks like the step they took between upgrading between Kirk's enterprise and Picard's, well done.
Bruh your 10 years old laptop condition is better than my 5 year old laptop 💀
Nice! This can also work on destroyed computers that stil works! like what DIY perks did!

Love the Steampunk vibe 😉
