  • This amp absolutely crushes. It can breathe fire even at low bedroom levels. Through the Mesa 4x12 it sounds killer. Honestly, it sounds killer through any cabinet but especially through the oversized rectifier cab.

If you can hear the strings, turn it up and make it sing.

I feel you! Next time I’ll film while others aren’t sleeping and crank it.

I think it sounds cool, even though the purpose was to show how the amp sounds. Great playing.

That amp has one hell of a master volume to sound that good at that low of volume. Would love to hear it with a good 80’s crunch dialed in, with the mids pushed back up. Regardless, that is a killer amp. Congrats!

Liked #100. I got the same 4x12 OS cab recently. Now I need to save up for the Engl Fireball 💯. Very nice sound 👍🏻

Absolute amp and guitar skills ! But keep in mind that Master Volume must be at 12 o'clock to have a massive and fullness valve tone.Yeah , when you're at home and you turn the sound down it sounds super cool but on the gig when you crank the power high and low frequencies will pop up on the horizon . I recommend to starting making your tone by placing EVERYTHING at 12 o'clock .If you like a modern sound, take out a bit of Mids around 10 for example. The Big Game is between Gain and Master Controls ! What i found for myself when you boost MASTER turn down a little Gain ! Example : Gain - 13 o'clock Master -11 ! Gain -11 Master 13 o'clock ! This way you will see how your sound changes in frequency without having to touchEQ !!! And lastly... finding a holy sweet spot on gain control when playing riffs ( a bit less gain ! ) and soloing ... thank you for this video Bradley !

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, I sent it in for diagnosis/repair in February and got it back earlier this month. It was something the ENGL repair tech in Southern California had never seen before in this amp I guess and it just took a long time for the correct diagnosis to happen. Eventually ENGL contacted him from Germany and they worked out what it was together and once it was figured out, it was fixed. I think in the end it turned out to be a Jfet that had probably been toasted from a voltage spike. The tech explained it to me but a lot of what he told me went right over my head.
The amp was making all kinds of crazy tea kettle whistling sounds before I finally sent it in. I have a video of the amp doing that somewhere on my channel.

Thanks! It’s one I wrote called Flesh is the Law, I did a rendition of it on a solo album I self produced. If you want to listen on Spotify or whatever:
      Artist: Bradley Tatum
      Song: Flesh is the Flaw
      Album: Amped

Is that at bedroom volume ?

    • @braddtatum
      @braddtatum  6 місяців тому +3

Yes, it’s at bedroom level in this video for sure. The sound quality stays really nice even at low volumes and doesn’t do fast jumps from quiet to loud as you increase the volume either, very steady incline as you go up or down. It can go to outrageously loud too of course!

@@braddtatum awesome I figured since I could hear your picking . It sounds really good even at low volume. I got a 50 watt evh that sounds pretty good at low volume too but it does jump up pretty quick once you get around 1. I have to barely have it on below 1 to have it at bedroom volume but still sounds pretty good.

@@jasoncrump1886 Rad. I have yet to try any of the modern evh 5150’s. I would love to. Honestly, I’ve only played a 6505 and that was several years ago, briefly. Would love to get some time on them and get to know them better.
I think the fact that there is a master volume in addition to the lead channel volume on the fireball gives you a lot more ability to control the volume.

@@braddtatum I'd like to try out that fireball one day. My evh is the older 6l6 version . I got a dv77 eminence and v30 in the matching 2x12 cab and it's pretty brutal.
