Hey Naomi! The issue with Nuclear Sunrise is environmental and didn’t arise in our testing. We have refunded or replaced the bottle for every customer. We have fixed it. ;) on the Occultist Cloak, the cracking can happen if the surface is too glossy. This can happen if an ink is used or the spray primer has gone on a bit too thick. But shouldn’t be an issue with most matte primers. Thanks as always for the review!
Hello!
Thank you for the info! 🤗
I'll reach out to my distributor about the Nuclear Sunrise I have then to get new ones for the rack!
And I'll be mindful of non-matte primers if using the speedpaints.
I suppose a quick layer of the Speed Paint Medium or your Anti-Shine Varnish first over anything gloss will counter that issue as well 🤔👍
Thank you for sharing the tips!
This is why I love Army Painter! they constantly engage with their customers admit to any faults and correct them, if only more companies were like this
I have the same cracking over monument hobbies primer...havent tracked whether or not it has all been from occultist cloak or not, though...
This kind of behavior is what has been turning me into a genuine army painter fan over the last few months. Thank you for walking the walk that very few other companies bother or dare to!
I hope you are building as large and loyal of a customer base as you deserve. :)
@@BenSilber I've been getting random cracking with various colours. Cannot for the life of me track down why it is happening. It's very frustrating as I never had a single problem with 1.0.
Absolutely love how the channel has morphed from batreps to painting tutorials and product reviews to painting tutorials, product reviews, starter guides, and an excuse for Naomi to cosplay 😄. It's been quite the journey
Thank you Naomi! Very helpful.
This is a fantastic resource. Thanks so much.
That was a fantastically helpful review of all those paints, I'm planning out my paint purchases and this is just what I needed.
Whoa Naomi, just whoa lol
Great and very helpfull video Naomi 😊
Noble skin looks like it is meant for the Salamanders chapter.
Thanks for showing the colours makes buying them a lot easier.
As a complete beginner at this hobby, thank you so much for breaking down the colors and giving tips on how one might use them. It has made taking those first baby steps into painting a lot less scary!
oh lawd
I used burnt moss for a dark gray green on my imperial guard models. Makes the uniforms look the drab color I was aiming for and like they’ve been living in a trench for months
Thank you , Lady Naomi .
🐺 Loupis Canis .
I would have suggested you do it in order, all blues, all greens, all reds, etc.
Yes Sgt. Naomi give me the orders i´ll obey
Thanks for an engaging show case of all the paints. Very informative, thanks for all the effort in showing off all the painted mini’s.
Thank you for putting out these paint reference guides! I *love* that you used a primer other than Citadel! I think it makes a difference in the final results in some cases.
Really enjoyed the breakdown of each paint. Thanks Naomi!!
It's unbelievable smooth effect you manage to get with these paints. Thanks for this review 👍
Awesome idea and thanks for taking all that time to make them!
Thank you!
It is always nice to have detailed breakdowns of contrast/speed/xpress paints on models.
Since it is extremely hard to judge how the paints will look like on actual model from bottle content look or sticker on the bottle.
Even other online guides usually show surface or surface-like paintings.
Moreover the alphabetic order with timecodes is awesome idea!
Thanks a lot again!
Absolutely love Murder Scene! And this is a great reference video which is exactly what we need from range review videos.. TY Naomi! - This must have took an age - and we appreciate it!
Thanks for this Naomi, absolutely invaluable resource for speed painters, esp as unlike acryllics you cant judge a paint by its bottle colour! I've come back to this so many times when choosing colour schemes. You should do another for Vallejo Xpress!
Fantastic breakdown of these paints. Thank you for making it!
Came for the paint colour comparisons and stayed for the excellent paint usage suggestions, extremely well done!
I'm definitely adding this video to my Speed Paint folder! Very informative and easy to follow!
You look amazing!!! always so much fun to watch these vids
yes lots of fun ;-)
Hello! Thank you so much for the color by color break down and your thoughts on how it flowed, opacity, and what you would use it for. I truly enjoyed the first version of Speed Paints so this helps out a lot. Cheers
i come here almost every painting session, thaaanks sooo much
Naomi, this video was excellent! One of your best and most informative to date. Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate each and every paint! This box set is now on my Christmas list! Come on, Santa, you know I've been a good boy! 😂
Thank you for this. I have been thinking about getting these but not sure how the color will look/work. Now I know which colors I need. Also love the cosplay, always stunning and can see you have a lot of fun cosplaying.
Awesome video! It’s nice to see a consistent showcase. I will continue to come back to this whenever I’m humming and hawing at the hobby store because they have none of the speed paints I want and need to hunt an alternative 🤟
Fantastic video love the new interactions thank you Naomi
Wow, what a project!!! Good stuff!! ❤️🔥🥰
Thank you very much for this amazing amount of work you took upoon you!
This is a nice summary video of every color, also those minis at the end look great!
Excellent reference video... will be bookmarking this for later
Thx 4 this! Great outfit!!
I like ancient honey for making a weathered paper color as well. For my Mardi Gras marines I tend to use it for some of the prayer strips on various parts. Sometimes on it's own, sometimes with a dark wash on top, or sometimes I just get curious and layer several of the yellow/non-metallic golds to see what it looks like lol.
Really excellent video. I have a couple new paints on my list now
I did buy some new paints. I actually scrolled through the video while at the store looking at the AP paint rack
¡Uberuseful video! I thank you a lot for this awesome work. Directly to my favs videos ever!
Ty for the breakdown!
Great job! Exactly what I needed.
Thanks very much for these clear color comparisons! I just wanted to suggest to you that "Sand Golem" over a bright silver is my favorite go-to for rendering gold!
I've basically decided that a good light and dark silver are all the metalic colors I need. Anything else can be easily simulated with a quick Speedpaint colorizing of the silver. 😁
Hey thankyou for all of the hardwork you put into your video. I really noticed it. Subbed and liked!
Great content as always Naomi
I know this was a lot of work so thanks so much for this!
Awesome video Naomi!
Thank you for this video 😊
Loving the Lara croft style outfit at the start, wasn't sure what to expect from the video after that, I'll admit, there was less guns than expected 😂 (great vid and incredibly helpful)
Brilliant video as always
Thank you so much!!!
I'm still looking for the perfect colors for my MOTU Battleground minis and this is so helpful! I've had the same issue with Nuclear Sunrise but I actually like it since it fits the purpose quite well...😅
Thanks for making this video it was helpful
Thank you, this is very useful.
very useful video, thank you very much
Ooh, that Purple Alchemy would look great on the Marvel Crisis Protocol Sentinels....
great Vid. Thx!
Awesome job testing all the colors, I'll bookmark your video for future reference when I have to buy a new speedpaint color ;-)
Really useful video. One thing I'll probably do is prime all the bottlecaps and paint them with the color so I get an accurate rep opposed to the bottle label.
You get better every Day ;D , keep on the good Work .
I so want all these paints
For your knowledge : chartreuse ( shar-troez ) is a french Alpes breverage ( 55°) made by monk.
Not for children except if you need them to sleep a long night 😂
Charming Chartreuse is the color of the breverage. 🥂
Army recruitment just went up by 3000%
Very useful, thanks for doing this! Any chance you might do a future video comparing colors in this range with similar colors from the Xpress and Contrast samples you painted previously?
Great stuff Naomi. I'm still a contrast paint fan primarily but I'm looking to try the Speedpaint 2.0 more. I really like the Vallejo express color as well.
FOR VICTORY! Oops sorry that was so last video.
I say we army paint Naomi 😊
😍😍😍
I am painting my caps. Black primer then I’m dry brushing grey for speed paints but my bold paints I just paint on the black primer
👍
💚💚💚💚
Nice vid very informative, Will you be pucking up Marvel Zombies to speedpaint at all?
camooooo
Thank you for your informative videos. You cover things very thoroughly and allow for a visual so we can see what is being discussed. This makes it much easier to make an informed decision on whether or not to buy. Also, I love the new cosplay. Doesn't hurt that you are one of the most attractive reviewers. Makes watching videos a pleasure. Beauty and brains, a dangerous combination. LOL.
Awesome video. Have you done this with xpress from vallejo or dipping inks from GSW?
Yes, with Vallejo Xpress :)
@@swordnsteele712 any chance you got the link. I couldnt find it. Thanks for the quick reply
Hey Naomi, I think you should redo the Vallejo Xpress Color paint test. It is now obvious that you didn't shake the paints enough when you did it. Try putting a couple of mixing balls in each bottle and giving them 60 shakes.
Hi! I did put two mixing balls in each one and shook them well ;) Like I said before, now that I've used 90 different Speed Paints, 63 different Contrast Paints, and all of the Xpress paints, I still don't prefer the Xpress paints... But! I will be trying them again once the rest of the colours come out, so we shall see and I'll update then! :)
@swordnsteele712 Strange; the only "speed paint" line I've had any issues with are the dipping inks from Green Stuff World. Xpress Colors are my favorite line so far
Do you find these work better than gw contrast? As a dark angel, templar, and carcharodon player, I have found contrast very difficult to get good results. I haven't tried this brand of paint yet.
They feel similar to Contrast, though where Contrast is quite different across its range, these feel very similar to each other, no matter the colour. 🤔 Add in some Speed Medium if you'd like to build up the layers, remember to do a single coat and let it dry completely before adding the next, and you may find you like them. They are certainly worth trying :)
They go through the airbrush well, too!
Who makes the soldier figures? Those are perfect for town guards!
Those are Dungeons & Lasers figures from the cityfolk set by Archon Studio :)
@@swordnsteele712 thanks!
What primer did you use for these colors? And did you do zenithel method or just one primer?
I did no zenithel, and painted them with Mecha Ivory primer from Vallejo
great video. do you strip all the paint from the minis after or throw them away?? if you strip them, how do you do that?? thanks.
No, I have all of my rainbow minis for future colour comparisons :)
@@swordnsteele712 makes sense. Thanks. Keep up the great videos. 👍
I was super bummed when I ordered the complete set from Amazon and the package arrived with two Hive Dweller Purples and no Magic Blue. 😓
Hi, nice video! Where can I find these mice models?
They are Skaven models from Warhammer Age of Sigmar :)
Specifically Clanrats
Thanks!!
Did you thin these in any way, or are they straight out of the bottle?
These are all straight out of the bottle :)
Where is the terrain piece at the end from?
Dungeons & Lasers from Archon Studios :)
I hope you were using a left-handed brush.
Hi, it's normal that my grim black looks like dark purple?
I didn't find that, I found it a dark grey. Perhaps it needs more ferocious mixing? It also depends what colour you put it over. A cold grey would possibly make it more purple... It will take multiple layers to be black black, as well.
Thanks you, switched the base to white (originally blue) and mixed harder. It helped and the purple is gone, thanks!!
Originally GREY base** (not blue)
;)
Do these reactivate?
I haven't found any reactivation thus far, no. I've been able to use them interchangeably with other paints, other brands and am satisfied to say there hasn't been any sign of bleeding, and I have applied pale colours over top of them multiple times so thus far 👍👍
They're so patchy compared to version 1 speedpaints 😢
Speed and contrast paints can't do anything, that regular Acrylic inks, like Liquitex ink, haven't been able to do for years. It's all marketing.
Oh yes, and I hate reactivation...
You're a godsend with these Speedpaint videos, seriously, this is extremely useful. I only wish, reeeaaally wished, you had done this one on Saturation and Hue order, other than alphabetical. Regardless, huge thanks for this.
thank you. Prime Day the whole set was 120 off. next time I will pick it up.
