And the video is much better than I can do in my car while trying to hold my phone locking up the brakes for a pit hole that sounds like the whole suspension was cramped into my trunk . And that's at five miles an hour or forty dogging logging trucks that are in their own really just the opposite direction . . That Hummer is smooth compared to my car , I can't imagine why . @@orion7741 Don't know where you have been? They used to start on main street, not on some freeway outside of town, then through the wash with zero speed limits!
Funky doesn’t even begin to describe Baja. The course covers everything from rocky goat trails, to dried out river beds, to open desert, some guys even run across the flat beaches next to the ocean when open navigation allows for it. There’s a great documentary about Baja called From Dust to Glory. The filming they did for it is incredible, the action shots are crazy, and it’s just a great story as well.
Got here on ' related '. Totally glad I hit the button 🎉😂. More street car, race car than truck guy But, there is nothing else like this. 500 and 1000 miles of all out madness. Definitely a different type of driving. Should I say piloting or guiding, or simply manhandling. Dude is a beast. Somebody really needs to do a 2 or 3 hour best compilation documantary and produce and release in IMAX theater. !!! Anyone agree
This is why I put all those hours into Sega Rally & Dirt... That & I didn't have $100,000+ to blow on a real truck. Sweet mullets that's a nice truck Robbie, or was. Gotta say if it were me with all those intersecting roads I would of surely ended up in someones driveway/house..
It's much older, but try out Baja: Edge of Control (Remastered) Not as in depth as Dirt, but is much more beginner friendly. It's also really fun to tear up the desert in it.
I met Robby Gordon in a bar one night, and I submitted the song request for him to sing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", he refused to perform!!! Lol I talked to him for a bit and let him know that he needed a wheelbarrow to carry his massive balls around, he laughed and shortly after left with his wife. Robby is one badass driver and a great guy.
GoPros since version 5 I believe have GPS capabilities and can display the current speed of travel, most current action cameras have this ability, I really wish racers with this option would enable it, would really like to see there rate is speed in real time…
I was loving the scary breakneck speed but man this guys blood must be chilled because as a viewer along for the ride I’m freaking out at those crazy fans proximity on the tracks I still couldn’t believe has line of sight driving and his reflexes with the sudden twists and turns as his line of sight blurred with the clouds of dust and speed but the reality is that dirt track was liken to a goats trail in some parts but the clarity of restricted line of view to acceleration on a questionable dirt road was recklessly brave jeez this sport is not for the faint hearted I’m just watching and ooh and aaah like the rest of the couch potato’s
That whole time I only saw two or maybe three Mexican booby traps +one dog for the racers to deal with un 20min- wow times have changed since the 80's.
As always, super smooth behind the wheel. Sounds like Robby changed up the engine program, I hope he is still using the SB2. Nothing else in the desert sounds like his truck.
@Thomas Engrav Yep, SB2 based 355. 11k rpm, vs the standard 7k or so from the other engine programs. This video, doesn't sound like the engine from the unicorn though, rpm are much lower.
@Thomas Engrav That is quite a lengthy discussion, really. Driving style plays a roll in engine development, as well as vehicle development. Robby builds his trucks different, they are actually mid-engine. Lower revs, more torque down low, easier to drive with power. Higher revs, more wide open, momentum becomes more important. Preference, driving style, budget, and truck development all play a roll in an engine program.
