    This video was amazing and brought me great success in teambuilding. However, the swarms of metapod had put my ladder success to a hault. Adding a pinkacross subscription to my team completely fixed this issue and I then reached number 1 on ladder peaking with a never before seen 4000 elo using my Keldeo and Toxicitry team. Please don't underestimate the power of being subbed to pinkacross and like the video as well to spread the word.

    I've been working on a magnezone hazard stack team for a while. The team is designed to spinblock with sinistcha, trap gambit/corv/skarm with zone, and break with hazard stack + weavile.
    Sinistcha @ Heavy-Duty Boots
    Ability: Heatproof
    Tera Type: Fairy
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
    Bold Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Strength Sap
    - Calm Mind
    - Matcha Gotcha
    - Shadow Ball
    Weavile (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
    Ability: Pressure
    Tera Type: Ice
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Swords Dance
    - Knock Off
    - Triple Axel
    - Ice Shard
    Magnezone @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Magnet Pull
    Tera Type: Fairy
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe
    Bold Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Body Press
    - Thunderbolt
    - Flash Cannon
    - Iron Defense
    Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Intimidate
    Tera Type: Water
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Stealth Rock
    - Taunt
    - Earth Power
    - U-turn
    Samurott-Hisui (F) @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sharpness
    Tera Type: Ground
    EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Jolly Nature
    - Ceaseless Edge
    - Aqua Cutter
    - Sacred Sword
    - Sucker Punch
    Slowking-Galar (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
    Ability: Regenerator
    Tera Type: Fairy
    EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
    Sassy Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
    - Future Sight
    - Chilly Reception
    - Psychic Noise
    - Toxic
    Some notes: I REALLY want to be able to run av h-rott, but then I lose too often to 4 attacks darkrai, so scarf it is for now. Sucker punch is run despite scarf as a hedge against setup/booster speed. Psychic noise on glowking is run primarily for moth, tera poison darkrai, and i-def garg.
    p.s. this is my third time posting, it seemed like my comment kept getting deleted when I posted the link to the paste for some reason. Idk what's up with that but if this shows up 3 times for you I apologize.

    Iron Crown and Primarina as AV users definitely pair well, and using tera poison primarina you can nearly always beat Darkrai and Iron Crown can provide momentum to primarina, check special attackers and stops some hazard leads.
    It is kinda cool to see two AV users that pair fairly well this gen.
    Lots of good balance mons this gen that honestly would thrive in meta without waterpon and kyurem threatening balances all the time.

    most of the time when i try to build balance it ends up being more on the bulky offense side of things, so this video oughta come in clutch building a serperior balance in UU before it inevitably gets banned

  • @bm4604
    @bm4604 2 місяці тому +7

    Another amazing video to add to the team building series.
    I feel like one of the most important parts of this video that may not be as appreciated as it should be is what you were saying from 12:30 to 13:00. Where in the point you were getting at is an important thing to be black pilled on during the team building process; that being, there are some mons that you just can't build a traditionally good balence comp around.
    This is especially true when your trying to build with unorthodox lower tier offense picks. For example I've been expirementing with using a scarf Regiedrago in OU cause I like when dragon energy goes brrr. But in order to get away with running a greedy pick like this it became evident that adding a defensive structure to the team that can cover all or even most of the threats in OU is impossible, especially since I'd basically be try to do this with only 5 mons. Wincon wise Drago has be on a team qhere ideally the games close to ending before full hazzards can be established by the opponent . So once i adopted that mindset and atartwd worrying more about how I can consistently break through the things that Drago can't, I started to have much more success in testing and itterating.
    So basically TL;DR is if your feature mons ideal win condition pushes your team away from being a balence archetypes, don't try and resist that push, just go with the current.

    Howdy!! The video was awesome, as an avid balance player, I loved getting a methodology to help guide my teambuilding and identify mistakes and holes that need to be patched! Submitting my own team for the next rating video, here's a meowscarada/gholdengho/deoxys-s bootspam team ive been using on ladder! Wow honestly, this was honestly one of the most helpful videos I've watched when it comes to team building. Ive always super enjoyed the team building process, but really struggled when it came to actually understanding how to make pokemon synergise well with each other, have purpose beyond covering type and stat holes. I end up really tunnel visioning on types defensively to the point idk why I'm using certain mons sometimes haha this video really helped me understand where I've been going wrong and what I need to also focus on, what's a little bit more important. Thank you again Pinkacross :)
    You may already have well enough submissions but I will throw my hat in the ring and see where we go from here. (Funnily enough it has one of the things you said absolutely not to do when buliding balance hehe)

    I wanna say thank you because ever since you first mentioned to build a progress making core before a defensive one in your video about common mistakes when building I've been doing so much better both on ladder and in tournaments, I've even matched into you a couple of times on ladder I believe we're 1-1, I thought I was doing well before but I would flop so many teams because of that mistake and it was frustrating. recently I've made this team with tealpon which peaked at 1945 and won me a couple of tournament games already, though I did tilt quite a bit on ladder after the peak so I wanted to see if there's still anything wrong you'd change or if it's just bad laddering habits

    The main idea is having probably the most reliable encore in the game thanks to a permanent free speed boost with tera on tealpon with mola glowking which struggles most with setup. The only 2 matchups I've struggled with are bulky tera fairy plot ghold and fast tera normal sd gliscor. I originally had kyurem over bolt but bolt gives me a little bit better of a matchup vs ghold and darkrai while relying less on tusk to spin rocks away and providing an offensive pivot and strong priority; the ghold matchup is still rough tho since with tera fairy tusk can't really revenge kill it reliably and it threatens pretty much the whole team, as for gliscor it's a very similar situation, tho ecore does help vs it but oger has to be played very precisely (that or I'm just bad at positioning). One option I considered for ghold is tera water over fairy on garg but I felt like the better pult, valiant, zamazenta, meowscarada and waterpon matchup was too valuable, especially as otherwise my only way to resist dragon is tera on offensive mons which can be unreliable

    I want to make a team around specs sylveon (yeah i know its outclassed by enamorous but it is still viable in theory). Lando t seems like a pretty decent breaking core right? its physical so it deals with special walls like blissey, the stab earthquakes deal with poison, fire and steel types that resist my hyper voice. thoughts?

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  2 місяці тому +2

      I don't think you're grasping the concept of a breaking core, I'll try to explain. If your opponent couldn't switch, then yes, Landorus + Sylveon would be fantastic. Your opponent won't just let their Blissey and Glowking die to Earthquake. Ssuppose you have your Specs Sylveon in. Your opponent has a Glowking. You switch in Lando as they switch in Glowking. You got the play... but then your opponent switches in Corviknight. Individually, these pokemon can be walled, and they do nothing to wear down each other's checks. Either try to punish Glowking with something more difficult to swap into than Landorus, or add a pokemon that forces chip damage on Sylveon's checks.

    Thanks for the helpful videos Pinkacross! Here is my team for a team rating submission. I got the highest I've been on the ladder with this team, but have had some trouble as of late. It struggles against Gliscor, Ogerpon Water, and stall. I think the team suffers with identity, I built it with Bulky Offense in mind, but I don't think Moltres-G really helps as much as I love it so. Is there any saving this team, or is it back to the drawing board?

    Do think Dragonite could operate well on balance? I was building with it and thought it’s defensive value would operate well on certain tusk balance teams. Also-what tusk spread do you generally prefer on balance?

    Pinkacross, how do you establish that one pokemon is viable, reliable and isn't a hit or miss? Like kingambit is obviously a reliable pokemon, but is meloetta? And would meloetta count as viable, as it has brought me some success (not a lot of outright kills but support for other breakers)

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  Місяць тому

      Depends on the set. Some sets of Kingambit aren't reliable, some are. HDB Dragapult is reliable, CB less so, Dragon Dance even less so. If you're not sure, just try using it and see how consistent it is in practice.

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  2 місяці тому +1

      At some point, probably! As for your second question, could you rephrase that? Not sure I understand. Sometimes it is worth leading with a non-hazard pokemon, other times it's best to set hazards up right away, really depends on team MU

    • @Bigchris314
      @Bigchris314 2 місяці тому

      @pinkacross2042 when I play a game, I always set up hazard(s) and then proceed the game plan. When i watch other players, they always choose "the best 'leads'" against the opponent because it give them more of then upside/advantage towards them. So I was just curious on what you prefer, leading off with hazards or "more optimal" leads that gives you more advantage? That's all

    • @pinkacross2042
      @pinkacross2042  2 місяці тому +1

      @@Bigchris314 Sometimes hazards are optimal to get up immediately, other times a non-hazard pokemon puts you in a more advantageous position and you can set hazards later. Certainly you shouldn't be auto-setting hazards at the start of the game, that's definitely not a good habit.

      Glowking is the best partner for a lot of bad pokemon, but a lot more common pokemon have stronger partners
