I love this type of video. I'm not super familiar with the competitive scene, so just getting this rapid fire breakdown of what was happening and your thought process was super cool.
this was really fun to watch! I think the thing a lot of casuals like to see is obscure/unexpected pokemon getting to shine in the hands of the masters, so something like this is perfect for that. the level adjustment is fantastic
I'm not competitive, so the way you explain these things are so entertaining. Also I love 14:21 saying Furret is your secret weapon just makes me smile because Furret is my favorote pokemon
I’ve been playing random battles for a long time, and even if the stall mons or the set up sweepers feel exhausting to play against, I’ve never felt disappointed by the variety of pokémon that expands throughout generations (especially given how the typical smogon tiers are near-impossible to play with unorthodox pokémon). It was awesome to watch your competition! Good luck with future competitions.
I love playing random battles because reacting with what I have is usually for fun for me than planning out teams, but it definitely limits how deep you can go into the game imho. When I first started trying non-random modes I was so used to sacking pokemon trying to position myself that it took me a while to realize that basically all of my pokemon had to be conserved and were equally important. The whole pace of the non-random games is different
Yeah,I'm not the best at making teams but I'm pretty good at working with what I get in randbats. That's why It's my most played mode on Pokemon showdown
Rando Battles are easily a favorite format of mine and many others in PS, so seeing a showcase like this, especially in a tournament setting, is a thrill from both a competitive and strategic standpoint.

And uh.. I know you know for about 1.5 years, so not that long. Yet, I feel like you've grown in making Pokémon content accessible for people who wanna learn about Pokémon VGC! So thanks!
And I wish someday we find/fight each other on the ladder! Haha cheers!!
This video looks sick so far. Def one of your better ones, would rewatch
Thank you!
I appreciate how Wolfey spoke about the competition and gave us context for who they are. Really adds to the experience!
Love your involvement in both the competitive Pokémon the TFT communities!
Thank you!
I actually burst out laughing when I saw the Furret on your team, and was wondering the whole time after if it'd be useful. I'm super glad that my absolute favorite Pokemon was one of the keys to that game.
Hey it takes courage to say you don't want to show the last battle, I appreciate your honesty and respecting our time + only doing what content you want representing you. Makes a ton of sense and is a good call. I have zero interest in playing pokemon but love your videos, energy, and explanations. Fun to see how the world champ brain works. Keep it up!
i'm so happy for joey that he clinched it as he was the only 'real' singles player to participate but i also love how well you did wolfe :)
29:55 this has to be one of the luckiest battles I've seen in a tournament
You were so god damn lucky in the first round vs joey.
How did fricking ludwig make it that far
ay yo 🤣
The tournaments dark horse
he made a hard rom hack to nuzlocke because normal games were too easy
Ludwig isn't that bad. He was the first to hardcore nuzlocke Mogul Platinum, and he's got the luck of an anime protagonist
I've played a lot of random battles on Showdown with my partner. Despite being very good at battling, i'm not much of a planner and not super into competetive, so i always do better in random battles. They're so fun and it's nuce to see how a world champ has to adjust to the challenge :]
I really love you and your videos, so thanks for giving me something to free my mind up from all the stresses of life. I really appreciate all that you do. Thank you for giving me a smile everytime.
This is the kind of content that gets people into competitive Pokemon! Love to see it
Friendships ended
I REALLY liked this wideo!! It was the perfect balance of explaining for the uninitiated (me) and jokes/memes to keep the pacing up. Excellent job, I'd love to see more Showdown tournament summaries like this!
I love random battles in basically ANY game. Recently I got hooked to Smite's Assault mode, where everyone gets a random god.
This is right up my alley 😁
Hope you enjoy!
As someone who loves Pokemon but is always short on free time, I love the switch from longer, lightly edited videos to shorter, more accessible format you've made over the last few months. Personally, I think this is the correct direction your channel's heading towards and I'm really glad you're doing well and finally getting the attention you deserve as such a dedicated content creator.
Someone please help me I had a dream last night that Wolfey started dressing as a middle-aged goth lady.
Another important skill in random battles is creativity, being able to use the Pokémon you got.
You play Random because of the challenge. I play Random because I don't know jack shit about building teams.
We are not the same
Agree
I love how narrator wolfey is all sober and thoughtful and tournament wolfey is just like "WOO YEAH BABY LETS GO"
I love looking at the brackets and going "oh, Smallant, I watch his content!" "Oh, Purplecliffe!" etc, etc.
When staring down Joey's latios, why would you suspect anything other than him "droppin a draco?"
This is suuuuuuuuch a good format for these long tourney videos. I do like watching the whole things, but I really like you explaining exactly what you were thinking in an easier to consume chunk also!
I love how Furret is a top tier Pokémon in the random battle meta, it’s great.
I've somehow manged to make it to just around 2000 in gen 8 Randoms and can confirm that Slurpuff is absolutely terrifying, and basically an auto win in the majority of cases.
I love this type of video. I'm not super familiar with the competitive scene, so just getting this rapid fire breakdown of what was happening and your thought process was super cool.
This was some high quality, well edited content Wolfey! Thanks for the play-by-play! Would love to see more :D
this was really fun to watch!
The style of this vid is awesome!
"y'all ever heard about something called the champion of the world that is also different" such a good quote
That's why It's my most played mode on Pokemon showdown
yeah every pokemon in ur team is needed
The Vordt ost timed perfectly with the Latios reveal had me rolling, great stuff man
Going undefeated and only loosing to the finalist is such a huge accomplishment, and hommie got the birthday dinner done!
Good man good games
That thumbnail is hilarious
PM7 seems like the sweetest dude...I'm glad you have him as a friend!
Rando Battles are easily a favorite format of mine and many others in PS, so seeing a showcase like this, especially in a tournament setting, is a thrill from both a competitive and strategic standpoint.
Shell Smash is such a good set-up move that it was featured prominently in the anime. Cilan's Dwebble/Crustle knew it.
I know it's not always the easiest, but I love your videos that have such clean yet simple editing, and really keeps that pacing moving! Awesome
