Hi Everyone, I've been getting some questions on what chemicals to add to your pool after you set it up. Here's the quick and simple version - use these chemicals - in this order: Day 1 - Clarifier - amzn.to/3UOK1Gw Day 2 - Shock - amzn.to/3VfWJQ0 Day 3 - Algaecide - amzn.to/3Vf8tC9 After that - Chlorine Tablets - amzn.to/3WVxymW Then check your chemical levels with test strips - amzn.to/4eqwFta All the best, and hope you enjoy your pool this summer!
This was incredibly helpful and informative video. You should give the folks at best way a call & tell them you will be replacing their useless manuals. Awesome job! Thank you again.
Honestly, Bestway should pay you for this!!! This is the single most helpful video I’ve found (out of like 7 I’ve tried watching) and would’ve saved me like an hour of frustration had I found it sooner lol. I appreciate the clear, step by step instructions. The ones that came with it are laughable, and their UA-cam video is just as bad…
Thank you so much for not only showing the setup of the pool structure but also the pump. I will use your video when I set my pool up. Thanks again for your time and effort.
This video was by far the most helpful of all the videos I've watched. Thank you so much for your help (and I never wrote comments for videos I watch) !!
Thank you so much. This video was so helpful. I just followed you in the video step by step with the filter. And I got it in with no problems. Awesome job!!
It should come apart by unscrewing it (it's very tight, though, and hard to get a good grip). To see an example, look at the 2nd product photo in this jet: amzn.to/3VDKkEr Good luck, let me know how it goes 👍
Hello I will be setting up this same pool over the weekend this is a great video but I see you used decking material instead of pavers to support the legs. How is that holding up I am afraid to use pavers and the pool get punctured.
The decking material is working great, but note that this is maintenance-free decking, so basically like plastic. I share your concern on using pavers. One thing to note is that the legs tend to work their way outward as time passes. So when you first set up the pool, it is a good idea to position the pavers so that the feet have some room to slide backwards (out, away from the center of the pool), which they will do. Good luck and all the best!
Questions? So A hose pushes water in the pool? And B and C hoses show suck water in the filter? I cant feel any suction go in. Can you tell me is there something wrong? Thanks Lisa Smiles.. I love you're video it helped us so much.. Well done.
So far I have 2 questions, are you using both bags of cotton balls in the pump? How often do they need to be replaced? Thank you for this informative video!! Great job!!
I added all the polysphere balls that came with the system. I honestly don't remember how many bags there were. They roughly filled the reservoir without needing to cram them in! For your second question, you can actually wash them out when they get dirty. Here's how: ua-cam.com/video/N4g4ts4X3AE/v-deo.html Assuming you clean them periodically (every 2-4 weeks is recommended) they can last up to 2-3 yrs. Good luck! 👍
I've got it set up, but water doesn't seem to be flowing. I'm assuming I would be able to feel/see some sort of movement within the pool. All plugs are out and flow is unlocked. I back filled the pump before putting the controls on "play" and there were bubbles inside the pool then. Once I put it to "play", nothing happened. No pressure in the tank, reading at 0. Any suggestions? This is my first time using this pool and this type of pump.
Best video EVER I will be taking it down in about a month and a 1/2 Storing it for winter and then I will permanently put it up next summer..... It's 3 AM where I'm at. And I was trying to figure out how to put the pieces on to the pool. To connect to the filter hoses......so I'm glad i found it. I'm realizing this pool does not have a skimmer basket and my old pool did. Does that make a big difference? How does the stuff That floods on top of the water gets sucked in? Thank you❤
So glad the video helped! Hope you can get some good rest! Yeah, there isn't a skimmer basket on this model. It comes with a net basket on a pole for leaves and what not. All the best! 👍
So so helpful! I should have just watched this instead of wasting time on the stupid manual…I read that junk over and over again! You’d think they would have better operational directions for the pump, wow! So again, thank youuuu
Amazing video. about to go turn everything on and get the pool ready but wanted to make sure i did it all correctly. precise and to the point. Have a Great day thanks again.
I wish I had found this when I first set up my pool because I had no idea that that was a jet and it needed to be turned on. I haven’t had mine on since I’ve bought this pool and I’m wondering if that will help my filter work more efficiently.
Perfect video for this single momma and first time pool owner. Question, the decking material that you used for under the feet, what exactly is that, where can I get something like that, and is there a ways to have it already precut to that size?
Thanks, glad it was helpful! I used maintenance-free decking material. You can get this stuff at a hardware store like home Depot or similar. Ask the workers, they might cut them for you, otherwise a miter saw works well with it
@@PracticalMechanic Would square patio pavers work? Would I need them to be flushed/leveled with the ground? These square pavers are 2" height so I think I might have to bury them to be flush to the ground.
Yeah, those should work great. And I agree I would recommend burying them at least a little bit. It's probably okay if they stick up about 1 in. But more than that and it might stretch the liner too much.
I have a 18x48 bestway pool I am currently filling. The legs creak PRETTY LOUDLY WHEN the water moves. It’s only about 1/2 full. Is that normal?? I’m scared to keep filling. It’s a level as we could get it.
It's been a while since I first set mine up, but I remember it creaking as well. I put each of the legs on a square of decking material so they could slide outward a little bit as the pool filled up. I recall going around and pulling the bottom of the legs outward so that they wouldn't bend too much. That might be something you could try. Good luck, hope it helps!
I need BIG HELP!!!!!!!! When I turn the Pool Filter on water leaks out of both containers the big one and the clear one. Is my pump defective or I’m doing something wrong??????
Phenomenal video! Thank you so much! Now I just need to learn how to hook up my natural gas heater for the pool and get electricity to the pool. I don't have any outlets outside of my home other than inside my garage which I'm sure won't work.
@JJSC2023 Thanks for watching & glad you enjoyed the short video. Hope you have a great summer! 😀👍 Let me know if you have any questions. Many more helpful videos to come! 😀 Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your UA-cam notification Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again.
Do you have any suggestions for adding either a mechanical or digital timer? I have read there may be issues in doing this due to the reset button on the pump's power cord.
Yeah, I'm working on that exact problem now! The issue seems to be that the timer can't be downstream of the GFCI plug, so you somehow have to get it between the pump and the GFCI, in a safe way. I hope to have that solved and upload a video soon, stay tuned!
Hey man great job!!!! I appreciate your video and it was extremely helpful and made it easy to set up the filtration system. That the was the only part that had me stumped. The instructions suck and if you are best way watching this and reading comments do better on instructions and stop being cheap on that part
Good questions! This was the 18-foot diameter pool, so we measured out a circle of diameter 20-ft, just to give a little wiggle room on all sides in case we didn't get it perfectly centered. It ended up pretty centered, so we have about a foot around all the edges. We also did quite a bit of tamping as well. The goal was to get it as flat and level as possible on original soil (that is already hard-packed), and then fill in the imperfections and divots with the leveling sand. Then tamp, in order to get a nice firm base that won't wash away! Good luck, hope you like your pool! 👍
@@PracticalMechanic thanks so much for the info! I’m building it tomorrow. How much sand did you end up using? More than 5 bags from Lowe’s or Home Depot? Just trying to get an idea so I don’t have to run out a lot. The area has a very slight slope.
@@PracticalMechanicGreat thanks! One more question sorry lol did you find the need for a tarp on top of the sand? I’m worried about the sand washing away with rain
I didn't put a tarp down. The leveling sand is more to try to fill in small holes, divots and voids. Ideally, the pool will end up, as much as possible, on original, hard-packed soil so that it is less likely to wash away.
I go into a GFI outlet, but I wanted to be able to set the pool pump on a timer, so went through a wifi enabled smart plug first. The problem with this method was that it would trip the GFI on the plug. I made a video on that here: ua-cam.com/video/n1kUSW0LDJs/v-deo.html
What about the chem connect dispenser that goes inside the pool? Do you generally just leave that on the whole time, and don’t put the other black piece back on after you take it Off?
No, dejo mi piscina montada incluso en invierno. Dreno el nivel del agua por debajo de los puertos de entrada y salida, y llevo la bomba y los tubos al interior. Se forma una capa de hielo en la parte superior, pero se cura bien.
Thanks for the video. Just wondering why the pool in the link you provided looks nothing like your pool? Even the pump looks different on the box of the pool you linked. Just wondering if the link is your exact same pool? Thanks again!
Thank you! It is my understanding that a lot of these pools actually come from the same factory and are rebranded and re-sold by different vendors with a few small changes, so this setup video should apply rather broadly. That being said, I couldn't find a link to the exact pool I have, so I linked to the closest I could find, though it does have a different pump. Here's a link to the pump I have, in case that is helpful: amzn.to/3QVynth All the best!
I’m not sure if I have a faulty pump but it’s not working. I have every hose hooked up right but no water pressure going through the filter and the gauge is at zero. Also, I’m just using the filter balls, not sand. But I did try the backwash way, & still no luck . If you could get back with me that would be great, thank you. Btw thanks for the video. Very helpful.
2 things to double check: press the reset button on the plug, and make sure the top knob on the jet is fully rotated in the "unlock" position. If not that, try filling the tub with water, in case the pump needs to be primed, good luck. 👍
@@PracticalMechanic I tried that. It makes a sound from the motor. Do you think it’s a faulty pump? I’m not sure on what I should do. I watched both of your videos about backwashing. & followed step by step but there’s still no flow. I hate to buy a pump, it cost more than I got for the pool. lol Thanks for getting back with me
Sometimes an air bubble can get trapped in the pump, and it just spins air without sucking any water. If that happens, the pump needs to get primed which just means filled with water. Make sure the tub and the trap are filled with water (just use a hose if necessary). Also, triple check all the hoses are not blocked or plugged and are going to the correct ports. If still no luck, could be an issue with the pump...
Hi Everyone, I've been getting some questions on what chemicals to add to your pool after you set it up. Here's the quick and simple version - use these chemicals - in this order:
Day 1 - Clarifier - amzn.to/3UOK1Gw
Day 2 - Shock - amzn.to/3VfWJQ0
Day 3 - Algaecide - amzn.to/3Vf8tC9
After that - Chlorine Tablets - amzn.to/3WVxymW
Then check your chemical levels with test strips - amzn.to/4eqwFta
All the best, and hope you enjoy your pool this summer!
Can you make a video talking about this?
Why do you need to add all those things if the water is drinking water coming out of the faucet?
Mainly fecal matter, algae growth, and other micro-organisms.
Can you swim in the pool during these 3 days?
If you got this water from a ‘clean’ water delivery service, do I still need all these? I keep reading to shock it first?
This was incredibly helpful and informative video. You should give the folks at best way a call & tell them you will be replacing their useless manuals. Awesome job! Thank you again.

Great to hear, thanks for the vote of confidence! Cheers 👍
best instruction video I'ver seen. some people just know how to do it correctly
For folks having trouble finding the fence stakes I was able to use a 3 foot piece of 3/8” rebar and it worked perfectly!!
I could not have set up my pool pump system without watching this video. The instructions were impossible to follow! Excellent video!

Does the jet assembly on the inside of the pool come apart to add jet attachments or do I need to drain it back to below the jet to change that out?
It should come apart by unscrewing it (it's very tight, though, and hard to get a good grip). To see an example, look at the 2nd product photo in this jet:

Thanks for the video. Just wondering why the pool in the link you provided looks nothing like your pool? Even the pump looks different on the box of the pool you linked. Just wondering if the link is your exact same pool? Thanks again!
Thank you!
It is my understanding that a lot of these pools actually come from the same factory and are rebranded and re-sold by different vendors with a few small changes, so this setup video should apply rather broadly. That being said, I couldn't find a link to the exact pool I have, so I linked to the closest I could find, though it does have a different pump. Here's a link to the pump I have, in case that is helpful:

All the best!
Absolute hero! MVP!
I have the valve open and I turn on the filter but nothing's happening there's no water coming through what am I doing wrong? Ty
I hate to buy a pump, it cost more than I got for the pool. lol Thanks for getting back with me
@@PracticalMechanic and what do you mean by filling the tub up with water to be primed?
Sometimes an air bubble can get trapped in the pump, and it just spins air without sucking any water. If that happens, the pump needs to get primed which just means filled with water. Make sure the tub and the trap are filled with water (just use a hose if necessary). Also, triple check all the hoses are not blocked or plugged and are going to the correct ports. If still no luck, could be an issue with the pump...
Thank you for this video but why don't have some prices left
Glad you made this video! Probably wouldn’t have figured it out with the paper instructions. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful, rock on this summer! 👍
