Dale… idk if you’re going to see this, but you just helped a Dominican lady in NJ realize that her pool was set up wrong by some guy her sister paid to do it! Later on today I’m going back there and switch things up! No wonder my pressure has always been so bad & low. We have 1 outlet & 2 inlets. 😮💨😭 Thank you for explaining everything so clearly. Your videos are wonderful .
@@dalesbackyardofficialI switched everything to the the correct ports. I’m finally getting a better flow of water into the pool but now the suction on both of my B ports is non existent. What am I doing wrong? Please help 🥲
It’s really hard to feel the suction because it comes from 2 ports, so if 1 is covered, it just pulls more from the other. That’s pretty normal. It’s easier to feel the return
There were 2 packages of filtration balls that came with our pool..they worked great until 6 weeks into summer once the water started to turn cloudy I never could get it clear again. Next year we're trying sand sounds very low maintenance to me and worth it! Thanks for the very informative videos... wish I found them sooner!!
Exactly why I’m here too 😅 thank you for this video! I did everything right too but needed some reassurance 😂 but I completely forgot about washing the sand and rinsing it. Thank you! 😊
Question? I installed the Besway skimmer. How does one remove the “T-splitter “ on the outside of the pool thus dedicating the filter vacuum pressure pull from single “skimmer” hose line. I’m aware of the little black plug for the inside of the pool, but there is plugged line hose that will affect the suction performance as there is partial air and water in the unused second “b” side line. Also if one where to use little shorter hoses to the pump will this also increase suction and performance, creating less distance for the pump to work. I’m working with the 1500 pump nom, but ordered the 3000. My setup is the 18’x48”
Thanks for this in depth video. I’m upgrading to a 2200 GPH BW sand filter today from the stock paper filter and this is an excellent breakdown to get everything set up properly.
Helppppp….first time pool owner. I have this exact pump and it came with the pool - but there are balls with it (look like large cotton balls). Do I use these instead of sand and if so, still backwash etc like you did? The directions are very limited so your video for install is a Godsend! If I used these balls - when do I know to replace? Please and thanks
They go in the basket the thing with the clear lid that he purged the air, put a few in there and they catch the worst crap before it goes through the pump, hair, insects, debris, you can see when they need changing. Hope this helps
Also, I found the sand easily blocks the very fine filter slots, I read that you can use finely crushed glass instead of sand, I got rid of the sand, washed out the filter and tried the glass….,PERFECT!
The filter balls are used in the filter where sand goes. They are used in place of sand in this instance. It's your choice if you want to use them or fill with sand instead. I used them the entire first year of my pool and they worked fine in place of sand
What adapter are you using for the return hose? I just bought an Intex sand pump and everything matched up except for the return hose. I bought the only adapter they had at Lowe's but it was too small.
I caught my kid messing with the filter. I checked that everything was tightened and everything seemed fine, but when i turned it on, the pressure went way up. I immediately turned it off and realized the cap that keeps water going into pool was turned the wrong way. I fixed it but when i turned it back on it was leaking badly between the barrel and handle portion. I couldn't find instructions for this problem in the troubleshooting, but i did find a video for the smaller filter. That video says to just take it apart while it's elevated and make sure the gasket is on correctly. Wondering if you might know if it's also that simple for this type filter, does it need to be elevated if it has shut off valves, do i need to check anything else? Any help appreciated!
Even if the pump is in the off position, some water will leak out. That’s what they’re saying keep it elevated. Not sure why yours leaks now. Good idea to investigate it
Thanks for your videos they’ve been a great help over the past 2 seasons. We have an issue with the water inlet hose popping off when we connect the Bestway Vacuum to it. We already have bought hose holders that keep the hoses from slipping down outside on the pool and we’ve bought better hose spammers if that’s the word. But I think it’s the movement from the vacuum that wriggles the hose of. Any ideas? Ta

If you set the pump to the play setting, does both filter work at the same time the spheres and sand ?? I just bought the pool and haven’t set up mine. It comes with the same type of pump.
I have the same filter and have done each step above. When I vacuum pool with filter set on the play button the dirty water shoots right back in pool. Any ideas why?
Vacuum with the valve set to backwash. Once clear water flows - switch to rinse then - switch to filtering mode. Make sure to shut off pump when switching valve.
Is there anyway to just use a sand filter and the supplied pump that came with your pool? Or do you need that extra pump that came with your sand filter?

No. Filter is only working when the pump is running. You can try running it less than 24hours a day and see how it goes. If the water starts to get cloudy, or isn’t filtering enough for your liking, you can increase time. Mine keeps water clean with only 4 hours a day
Yeah. Each have their advantages. Poly balls have lower filter pressure and I’ve heard can filter better. May be harder to clean though. I need to make a comparison video
