Phat fx has a few different saturation modules built into it. Take a look, you can have 3 different models that have swappable modes. It's using the camel phat engine so it's decent quality.

Logic's Phat FX plug-in is one of the most underrated saturation plug in: it is massive
I’m on a mission to use mostly stock. I’m so sick of the plugin ecosystem. It’s the worst part of any DAW. Just last night I was trying to get my old Console 1 controller going again. After over a year on Reverb I can’t sell it. But, very quickly, I ran into all kinds of issues. I was able to fix everything, but it reminded me how fragile plugins are. And the Console 1 is basically a wrapper, so you have 1 plugin that holds other plugins. Plus the OSD app that runs in the background. UA, SSL and Waves (and many others) also has background helper apps that if disabled breaks the whole DAW. Then you have all the installers and updates that can cause problems.
So now, I have to go through everything and see what stock plugs can do the job and note it.
For now. I think I’ll keep 2 channel strips, 2 saturators, a drum replacer and a few reverbs. I don’t think we have a choice when it comes to instruments and effects. But compressors and EQs are totally covered. My dynamic EQ will be Nova. Also, Hornet plugins have no DRM and quite good.
I already lost over $1,000 in Waves plugs when I upgraded to M chip. So… buy buy. No. Bye bye.

2 more gaps in Logic, and free ways to plug them:
- Enveloper doesn’t really cut it. The free Kilohearts transient shaper (part of their free essentials) does.
- Dynamic noise. Sometimes you need to add some for that old analog gear feeling. Melda MNoiseGenerator (part of their free bundle) to the rescue!

I use Phat Fx as a clipper. It also has Tube, Dirt, diode, exciter and other saturation/distortion modes. The Phat Fx bass enhancer is also actually pretty good. It has to be used sparingly, but it fattens the low end in a pleasing way. I liked the Youlean loundess meter enough that I got that one (as a free version), also. Logic's Multimeter is good but not as accurate. I do use the goniometer on it. The Logic gate is OK, but I have found the BSA Silencer is the best gate I have ever used. It reduces cymbal bleed better than anything else I've seen. Simple and effective. Not free but good enough I didn't care.

Another dynamic eq is Tone Boosters Equalizer. the demo mode is totally usable. the piad version is $30. almost s good as pro-q 3

My usual tools:
Dynamic EQ: TDR Nova, obviously
Channel strip: UAD SSL 4000E (free if you have an UAD interface)
Tape saturation: CHOW Tapemodel, a must-have
Finalizing limiter: The Logic's adaptive limiter. But I'll have a look in the LimitedZ

I always struggle with denoising in Logic. They only have the legacy plugin as far as I am aware…?
I use a bundle by Acon Digital for declick, dehum, and denoise. It was cheap if I remember correctly.
I tried to install Limited-Z v2 and I'm getting a notice that it failed validation (this is in 10.8.1). Any advice?
