Leatherjacket killer Nematodes nematodes - amzn.to/2R1fKF6
Can you apply the Nematodes without aeration and scarification or do you need to do that first ?? Just found these fat larvae in my grass and I wish to murder them all DEAD 💀😂😆
Great advice , nicely presented! Good luck with your lawn business- and thank you.
Thanks max
Thanks my friend I think you have just solved our problem we have been tearing our hair out. We've fed scarified aerated watered and seeded over the last year all to no avail. But last year had craneflies everywhere in late summer all over tge gardenpatio and windows. Thanks I have liked and subbed.
Glad to help
Really helpful, thank you
Super video
Content excellent & well explained .......
Great video. Love the drag mat
Thanks!
Great Job Robbie.👍
Thanks 😁
Thank you for your great videos
Thanks 😁
Grass will come up " half cut" 🤣
Came to listen about the leather jackets but you did a lovely wee job on that grass.
Little joke ❤
good stuff to know, cheers
I’ve smashed the like button, great video 🇬🇧 Leicester
Excellent stuff 😍
Awesome Thank you!
Here in Canada there are also no registered pesticides left to use for these and chafer beetle grubs.
....until this spring, they allowed Bacillus Thuringenesis galleriea.
As a granule this year only but next year liquid should be available.
Watered in with half an inch of irrigation, so it goes to the root zone.
Applied best when the adults are emerging.
The wee bastards must begin eating to be effected so a lot of rain will make it less effective.
As no nematodes need to swim through the soil, no continuous moisture is required.
You can apply in the sunshine as this will not change it.
Hoping you will see this in your country, in the future!
That sounds great, we definitely need that here! Where about are you in Canada?
@@Premier_lawns_official On the Pacific coast, in the city of Surrey, the province of British Columbia.
@@wayneessar7489 I would love to go to your part of Canada, once I was younger I went to see some relative's in Calgary. And up into the Rockies. Such an amazing place.
Thanks for watching 😊 👍😁
A few months ago some mud was there and now it's mostly grass (half cut)
Hello have you got a link to your lawn seed that you used please?
Thankfully never seen any significant damage from leather jackets, certainly starlings and blackbirds are a good indicator. Great video, but you might need to explain the "half cut " line to anyone outside NI. 🤣
Good few lawns had them this year due to the mild winter
Mowtown NI I am English, got the half cut joke straight away. Banter Robbie.
😍😂😁
Good job again its all about knowing the life cycles I thought you were going to say and if you pour out Heineken you probably have one of the best lawns....Is there any lawn care display shows in your neck of the woods this year...? thanks
I might just take down this video and upload it again and use the heineken joke 😂 😂 😂
Half cut! 😅 a little tipsy too 😁
Thanks for very useful video.
Would it be a good time to seed too? Ever used a drop seeder machine? Cheers
Can seed now no worries at all as long as you water 👍 I couldn't resist the half cut joke 😂
Great results. Well done. Wot time of year did you apply the treatment in this video? Middle of Oct now, so not sure if grass seed will take if I start now
Nematodes can be very hit and miss, if you suspect of having them or have them, get the nematodes on now. Don't hang around as if you miss the window they wont work
any reason why milky spore is not available in the UK? It seems the best option, but only available in the US.
Hey Rob,
Just saw your video on leatherjackets, here in the US we have a similar pest called a grub worm it is the larva of the June bug or Japanese Beatle. It will designate your lawn. We have several over the counter cures for this problem they are all chemicals that target the insect population in your lawn. Some target the grub worm specifically, while others kill every insect walking or crawling in your lawn. I try to work with nature in my yard and find these chemicals too harsh for the beneficial microbiology I have worked so hard to build. Milky spores in an organic opposition like the nematodes the target the grubs specifically but take a long time to populate to an effective dagree in the soil, but once they populate they can rid you lawn of grubs for 20 years.
I'll be watching stay safe over there.
That's what I like to hear a good sustainable approach to our lawns. Less chemicals the better in my opinion
the grass will come up half cut with application of beer hahaha nice one

Thanks Robbie very much for the great video. Much appreciated. Our lawn has been 75% destroyed by leather jackets over winter and it's now late February. It is mainly mud! Is there any point in seeding it in March like you did in the video or will the leather jackets kill it all again? In other words, do I have to wait until the nematodes have killed them in September before reseeding? Thanks.
Probably best to get it rovated and let the birds eat the leather jackets
@@Premier_lawns_official Thanks for the reply! And then reseed March? Tony
Hi Robbie. Excellent content; thank you for sharing these. Seems I have these guys and they have destroyed what was once a beautiful lawn. Is now a good time to use the Nemasys product? I noticed these guys are pretty big at present, so will it be useful now? Thank you
Won't work now unfortunately. You will need to wait until September
@@Premier_lawns_official Thanks, mate. So there's also really no point in trying to repair anything until I can manage the infestation?

@@deanmccauley1356 Your welcome, have a great weekend
Hi rob the first product you put down was that nematode? The end result was amazing, confused trying to work out if it was grass seed or nematode. Thanks
Nematodes are to kill the leather jackets

Premier Lawns thanks Robbie I will look into this later.
Robbie, thanks for this. Quick question, where you have patches that have been affected, will they recover, or is it a case of taking the area up and overseeding?
Overseed is your best bet
@@Premier_lawns_official cheers Robbie, much appreciated. 👏
Love the video,s . What is the earliest in the year in the uk . You can use the bug killer . Thx
Hi Robert
This video should help you answer that

Help, I had some turf today and found (what I now know) are leatherjackets. I went back and looked and found 3 more (I lifted up the turf). I am calling the company tomorrow (small local garden centre). Just wondering if the odd one is normal. Thank you so much
Your lawn will survive the odd one. Nightmares is you get them
Just seen a video where they cover in black thick plastic (which I have) and they come to the surface. Guess what I am trying...... thank you.
Hi Robbie,
Great video on leather jackets although I'm still unsure on some the do's and dont's.
Just put A1 lawn spring/summer fert down and I spotted a couple of leather jackets today.
I've had leatherjacket damage last year and want to treat with nematodes.
Is now the right time to apply it?
And
Can I apply them so soon after my A1 lawn Spring/summer fert.?
Cheers
Waste of time applying them now.
premierlawns.co.uk/how-to-stop-leatherjackets-damaging-your-lawn/
Thanks, So what is the best time to disturb the life cycle with nematodes?
Autumn?
Sorry, I've just read comments further down and found you recommended September. 😁
@@scottcowan3043 👍
You mention NEEM oil .. any advice on diluation strength and application rate per m2 of lawn ?
I wouldn't bother with it now at all.
i sthat all u can used is their anything else u can use i have loads of grubs and ants in my lawn here over the uk after tilling the grass and layed new turf down
I dont have anything for ants sorry
Robbie, is seeding in March a lawn damaged by leatherjackets a complete waste of time? Might some survive? Or do we have to leave it until treating the eggs in September? Thanks, Tony
Hey Tony, this video answer all your questions and how to fix the problem ua-cam.com/video/A6YGawlByFo/v-deo.html
@@Premier_lawns_official Fabulous, thank you Robbie. Sorry I didn't find this video myself and wouldn't have had to bother you. Best wishes. Tony
@@tonycannon5821 no problem
Have you tried turfsolv?
Nope
Came for the lawn tips. Stayed for the dad joke.
😂
Is it true you get no moles in Ireland
Yes no moles or chafer grubs 👍👌
@@Premier_lawns_official amazing 😎
I wish I’d have seen this video last year my new lawn was destroyed by leather jackets and the company that replaced it did a terrible job
Did you treat the leather jackets?
Premier Lawns we moved into a new build and the turf they put down was infected so they offered to treat and replace. Ended up they basically just rotavated the entire area and re turfed over it which worked to an extend. Still got some this year but not as bad. I’ll look to treat it later in the year I think. Plan is to try and level the lawn out with screened top soil and overseed later in the year. Your videos have given me good lines to follow, so thank you very much.
@@Dluger123 you need to treat this year and at least next year with nematodes otherwise anything you fix will degrade
Premier Lawns just ordered some so will be doing thanks 👍
Premier Lawns sorry to bother you but if I’m feeding my lawn how long do I wait before using the treatment or should I use the treatment first?
What language does he speak?
Northern Irish 🍀 😁 subtitles available
