It’s not a “director’s cut.” Fincher won’t even talk about this movie let alone recut it. You’re referring to the “Assembly Cut” which compiles a lot of the stuff Fincher shot and simply organizes it in order based on his original outline. Fincher was not involved.
@@palmerlp It wasn't the theater released version. If it's the suff that Fincher shot and was organized based on his outline, then it's the director 's cut whether he was involved or not!
Little did we all know how iconic miss Sigourney Weaver would come to be. Such a golden era of Hollywood 🥲. Back when it was just about making good movies.
7:05 Dillon taking off his glasses to face the Alien, then yelling “That all you got?” while it attacked him was one of the highlights of this move. It’s definitely one of my favorites in the franchise.
@@thechosenone93 Agreed. I think he took them off out of habit, since he knew things were about to get rough. It also implies that he may have thought he might survive and would need the glasses later, which is also pretty bad@$$.
Beyond that, in a fight, even if you don't damage your glasses, they go down your nose and you end up with double vision and discomfort. So whatever it is, if he's not blind without them, it's relevant. But I think the choice of this gesture is in the desire to evoke the warrior he kept sleeping and who takes over from the intellectual speaker, beast against beast, with an immediately identifiable gesture.
The film has a distinctive filthy yellow/brown hue in its cinematography, almost like it’s supposed to represent sewer or the bowels of hell, very David Fincher although not matching the previous two films which are both mainly blue/black. Would be interesting to see a 4K remaster of Alien 3, I feel like this film and Resurrection have been put on the shelf and overlooked ever since their last release on Blu-ray, which didn’t treat both films well anyway.
Alien 3 and 4 were and are both still great. They were overlooked because they have different concepts & approaches to the story because of different directors.
I think it is done in those shades to portray the overall decay of the prison, and so add to the sense of hopelessness. That, and the greater vigor and vicious nature of the dog-incubated xenomorph, set an extremely pessimistic feeling to the film. Terrifying, especially with the feeling of defenselessness and isolation. An exceedingly well-done piece of dark cinema.
This xeno is the best looking one in the franchise. And I love the scene where she goes to where the xeno is hiding and she hits the pipe only for it not to be him. Then it drops down..awesome
Interesting. It is a great entry my only hang up is the early stage cgi on the Xenomorphs at times. It looks fake and takes me out of the film. Other than that the film is perfect.
@@mattlewis6833 I actually prefer this CGI compared to modern 'more realistic' CGI due to its creepy almost claymation feel. That said, it would have been far better had they made the effort with puppetry.
After listening to Fincher talk about the problems he had on this film, It would've been interesting see how this film turn out without studio interference.
Great film, great director. He went on to do Se7en. Love the way he light his films. Too many movies are over exposed and bathed in too much light. This one is perfect.
This movie setting would make a phenomenal game, stranded on a prison planet with harsh climate surrounded by serial killers and running from an alien, something like condemned would be amazing
People only disliked it because they compared it to aliens. I think it had the best looking and scariest xenomorph in the entire franchise and the best most haunting atmosphere. I even think it's the scariest in the whole franchise. The hate for it is people just following whatevers popular.

The whole tone of this film is dark, depressing, and creepy. The assembly cut Is the best. The score is incredible. Best of any alien movie. Romulus isn't better than Alien³. But it's better than everything after it 100% and is a decent film.
I just hope that some AI and digital effects enthusiast comes along and edits the alien scenes, giving us something better than what was shown in the original film.
This Alien film was genuinely scary. Obviously the first two are the better movies, but the Dog Alien was frightening and creepy as hell in this film. I'll always defend Alien 3, it wasn't perfect but it's one of the most enjoyable movies of the franchise.
Definitely one of those lines that sounds clever until you really think about it and realize that for her it’s only been like three weeks since she first met the alien. And most of that three weeks she spent working a cargo job at the beginning of aliens. The events of alien was about a day. The events of aliens on lv426 was also about a day. And the events of alien3 were a couple days.
While I hated pretty much everything else about this film, the runner is my favorite of the xenos. I think it’s the most menacing one we have seen to date. The praetomorph was pretty close but like the runner, it too was trapped in a bad movie. But apart from that, the musical score and gloomy atmosphere really compliment each other perfectly. I will give the movie that.
Como amo a ese monstruo!!! Es aterrador, grandísimo, terrible, feo pero me encanta!! Se q tbn es agresivo y sanguinario pero es de esos seres q se quedan por siempre contigo...
This movie is so bad on so many levels. Even if you get beyond the terrible choices in writing from the beginning, there are just really stupid plot holes. Like, if the alien knew Ripley was carrying the queen, why wouldn’t it take her away and cocoon her for safe keeping? It would. There aren’t any logical reasons why it wouldn’t. So right there the whole things falls apart. Charles S. Dutton is the best thing about the movie. The score is also excellent. The writing, however, is God awful.
This is not the same Ripley from Aliens. That Ripley faced off against a Queen yet 1 drone makes her go into a panic. Whoever wrote/directed/produced this garbage should be ashamed.
The director's cut of this movie is far better than the shorter version.

I will always and forever love Sigourney's jawline. It's so sharp it could break through my ribcage and steal my heart.
She’s one of a kind hot. Especially as Ripley.
No way, here she looks extremely masculine and if you're a guy and you find her attractive like this, there's no way around it - you're in the closet

The balls to even take his glasses off so he couldn't really what was assailing him was actually crazy. Only people who wear glasses can understand
