Do THIS To Build More Muscle With Face Pulls (SIMPLE TWEAK!)

  • The face pull is a fantastic exercise to really hone in on some of those smaller muscles in the upper back as well as the rear deltoids, but for some people the exercise never really seems to click and never really feels quite all there or quite as productive as it could be. And even though I've done the exercise for years I've learned that I too was one of those people. I've been searching for several years for a way to make the exercise better, and I think I have finally found it!

    They got this 10 exercise speed run thing going on. I would like to see your version. What ten exercises would you do if you lost all your gains to rebuild your strength and athletic prowess

      It would be great to hear a more athletic based perspective

    This is actually extremely helpful because I only have a high pulley in my garage. I'm going to start incorporating this move this week. Thank you.

    I do facepulls as a warm up basically every workout I do (with bands).
    This seems like a really good method to get the form down since people usually mess up the shoulder rotation aspect of it

    loved this exercise for the gym today alongside high incline chest supported lateral raises. absolutely disgusting shoulder pump. P.S you should do a home gym tour or home gym equipment reviews, that diamond trap bar is such a nice piece

    Hell yeah. I do this with bands and the pump is sick. I like doing this in a rest paused fashion up to at least a hundred. I get soreness in the rear delts the day after. The reps are also consistent because of the floor compared to doing it standing or sitting

    Looks like a erfect opportunity to superset these after a 20-rep squat widowmaker - taking notes! ✍️🤓

    Great insight as always bro. I've also recently been doing bodyweight face with gymnastic rings and the rowing angle is similar to doing the cable face pull while lying on the floor like how you're suggesting here.

      I call those "inverted face pulls" and I love them! I don't know why it took me so long to think of doing the regular face pulls like this haha

    My only problem with facepulls is that as I got stronger I had to lean back further and further to stay balanced to the point where it looks stupid and I take up lots of space. I'm not sure if I'm more comfortable lying on the floor in the public gym but I might give it a go lol

    Haha! I was thinking about doing this exact same thing in order to be able to do facepulls with my pulley system as well.

    This is what I do at my home gym :) I usually lay on my bench though (shorten chain, with my head towards the back of the rack)

    I like doing wide grip facepulls with bands, because doing them with tricep cables causes shoulder discomfort. Try doing them with double cables👍

    Saw Alex Leonidas doing this too, but with rows. I'm definitely going to try the set up with my gym's cable

    • @EnkiriElite
      @EnkiriElite  Рік тому

      I had started doing this with rows last year, but elevated on a bench so that my elbows could draw past my torso. Called them "reclined cable rows!"

    Alec would you ever consider doing a video/ training template for more specific areas of athleticism? I do bjj and judo and compete and would love a training template from you in that area or hear your opinion on how to build athleticism for said sports

  • @chaosdisciple3052
    @chaosdisciple3052 Рік тому

    Not mentioned in the video is the small length of chain, which is an absolute must if you have a home gym pulley, and comes in handy for all kinds of other exercises.
    Cheapest thing you can add to improve a home gym.

    i will be trying this. ive always found face pulls to be ineffective, tho i do them twice a week. i really want them to work.

    • @EnkiriElite
      @EnkiriElite  Рік тому

      I feel similarly regarding all horizontal pulling movements....if they aren't stable they feel somewhat useless. That's why I prefer chest supported rowing variations and whatnot, and thos Supine face pull gives a similar feel. You can feel the actual rowing muscles working way harder.

    Do you think weight would be a problem on this one?

    • @EnkiriElite
      @EnkiriElite  Рік тому

      It hasn't been for me yet. I've gone heavy enough at this point that the upper back is almost incapable of pulling the weight all the way down, and I still don't get pulled up off the floor by it.

    Ok let me get this Ball Smasher variant in my program
    Jokes asides it looks interesting but you seem to do more rotations then pulling with the rear delt and lower trap this way

    I think I'm going to really focus on facepulls. I think this is the missing key to my workouts

    • @EnkiriElite
      @EnkiriElite  Рік тому +1

      I wouldn't go so far as to call face pulls a "missing key," but they can certainly be a useful addition.

    have done this variation too and I love that it directly hits the upper and midback more
