He called Shane Hunt a dork which was juxtaposed in the clip by Shane BTN Pressing Mario’s max squat
He hid the plates in the clip. Shane was pressing around 120kg BTN I suppose.
Mario makes all sorts of hot shitty takes,
Like he called Shame hunt a dork for behind the neck pressing but also cut out the plates on the barbell because if he didn't he would've shown Shane was pressing 120kg
Luckily for him, this Mario kid is living in an era where being the DYEL squads World champion gets you a massive subscriber base.
Only in post year 2000 could this actually happen.
@YSIB Hes full of anabolics though and exhibits zero real strength or athleticism.
Alex demonstrates it every video posted in various disciplines.
Theres no comparison imo.
@@ThePitPonyNo WAY Mario is full of anabolics. Of ALL the sus kids on this platform these days, no way that guy is one of them
This guy has really high IQ and logic, one of his thoughts “if some athletes has small calves it mean small calves make your athletic “😂
yea he said basketball players have small calves, so small calves are better for athleticism. even though basketball player are like 7 feet tall and are of course going to look like they have small calves compared to a 5'5 bodybuilder. he makes no sense lmao
@@Atg.po1 That’s the point of the dudes videos. Any publicity is good publicity, at least to how he runs his channel. But I agree it comes off as arrogant and annoying while borderline being a dyel
He has so many hot takes, so I think that he is being controversial for the sake of being controversial. Like "shoulders is what makes your arms big not your triceps and biceps" "don't train calfs because no top athlete has big calfs" ect
Just ask Mario why he has small calves and he'll throw a tantrum lol.
Hes like Athlean X Lite. Fantasizing about training like an athlete and demonises behind the neck work.
Also really really hates bodybuilding and especially calves.
He just tries to push his "athleticism is the real aesthetics" idea too hard.
He buys followers, confirmed. 7k followers on IG, hundreds of likes each post, but 0 engagement or comments?? The only time he gets comments is from people calling out his bs, people that don't even follow him. He's 100% buying followers and paying to get his content recommended.

@@EnkiriElite actually agree here. He recently pasted 1k subs on his channel while his videos undulate in likes and views. Very sus
Also, wearing a belt is fun.
In commercial gyms a lot of people are squatting/deadlifting, but less than 10% (in my experiences) use a belt. So definitely underrated.
This basically becomes a using straps vs not using them. People shortchange themselves when they can simultaneously use them and build their grip strength directly through other means i.e. dead hangs/loaded carries
Yup, they are tools to further your goals. I personally limit my use of them because I fear over reliance and want to be absurdly strong that way even if it takes me longer.
Yep exactly. I use straps on pull-ups and sometimes on rows when I feel the bar slipping. For grip and forearms I have separate exercises to Target it effectively.
I do agree that if someone ALWAYS wears one it could become a crutch or you could become so nit picky about it that you cant lift without it. I still really dont care. I used to religiously use one but I lost a lot of weight and it didnt fit right anymore. Now i never use one and Im stronger than I was when wearing one. When i throw one on now it kinda throws me off.
It's been a while since I've visited this channel. Love the new intro!
Enkiri is the truth
I’ve had a recurring disc herniation whenever I’ve squatted above 275 lol. Last time was with a belt even and I’ve had the conversation that it doesn’t prevent the injury’s lol. I try not to use the belt very often but like mentioned as a tool when it feels necessary.
Hopefully with some proper rehab I’ll get over that speed bump again
In a video he said he could bully a 150 lbs Brad Pit from fight club. Then all that stuff about Leon Edwards. So I've been leaving troll comments about how Roy Nelson and Mark Hunt could eat him and that they are the real MMA physiques.
I'd love to hear about the different shoes you wear and why! 😄❤👟
Very well said!
Hey, could you please make a video explaining how best to use a belt? Alternatively, do you recommend any existing videos?
You mentioned using it 'properly' and I would just search for videos myself but I wouldn't know good advice from bad.
After a nasty L4-L5 nerve compression a few years back, I use one to splint the back and reduce risk of more compression or spasm.
Hey alec. I was wondering what you think is the best split for powerlifting for a late intermediate? I am currently running upper/lower 6x a week with 3x squat and 3x bench frequency.
Lmao the clowns that end up on my shorts feed are similar. UA-cam seems to reward people who are overconfident in their ignorance.
The only belt injury I ever got was trying to deadlift 405+ with a low-worn hard belt. Bruised my abs up. High belt or soft belt fixed that for me tho
Like the new intro
What do you (or anyone else) think of the idea of using/not using a belt as a strategy to manage overall fatigue? I mainly do beltless when I want to add in more squatting volume or, as of recent, when getting back into lifting after a break. I also never using a belt for high bar since it hinders my ability to go ATG.
Totally viable IMO. It's a self limiting very close variation of the main lift that forces you to use less weight and ensure form is even more dialled in. The act of bracing without a belt, periodically, will in fact give you a stronger brace. Not because the core works harder, but because without the tactile cues of a belt you need to have better proprioceptive awareness of what your body is doing.
It's the lower body equivalent of a larsen press for bench IMO
I've trained some of my friends and family members. When it comes to the bigger lifts, I will use a regular trousers belt to help with cueing. I set the belt just slightly loose, and ask them to make it tight with an open mouth. As they get more advanced I'll introduce further concepts to help things even further
I don't know why folk care about people wearing / using belts, or gloves, or straps, or bar pads. There is footage of Alexiev training in gloves, Yuri Vlasov used a bar pad, Anthony Clarke wore gloves etc. (I do know why: It's because they think lifting - like camping, buying snacks, and going for a walk, among all the other things they like to ruin for themselves - is a chance to show how Early Man they are). It even effects the strength elite. I remember Matt Wenning saying he "hates it" when he shakes a buff guy's hand and it's soft (^_- ) Um....
What belt do you use/recommend?
Mario is a troll, he triggers weightlifters, that's his M.O.
Guys, listen! You don't need to use straps, your hands have things called fingers that can hold the bar for you!
That "coach" claims himself an ATHLETE while implying in one of his shorts that the LeBron Squat for jump performance were wrong 🤦🏻♂️
He copes too hard for his smaller calves
Rios is new V shred
I just feel better lifting with a belt. What makes me feel better, makes me stay longer in the gym.
Personally for me I don't use them since they always cause hip and groin pain for me.
This dude has 30+ shorts over 1m views. Kinda shows how broken UA-cam is.
Damn, I didn't even notice that! He found his formula and stuck to it yeesh lol
You can use loose belt to know that you brace right way thats what i do
I wear a belt on the lat pulldown machine, the elliptical, and in the lobby. That's how old I am.
I had to block this dude from popping up on my shorts. Recommended. On top of being annoying, he just regurgitates wrong information word for word from other creators
Pretentious Bodybuilder's Reason Why Belts Are Bad: They build up your mid-section.
Pretentious Powerlifter's Reason Why Belts Are Bad: They don't build up your mid-section.
That kanye song sounds cool sped up
I've never heard of this dude before and I just started watching this vid but yeah based off what I've seen so far alot of dudes should just keep their mouths shut instead of trying to nocebo people.
I don't use a belt every workout but I do use a belt when I'm going heavy for squats and deadlifts and I can deadlift 545 and squat 455 (not saying I'm the strongest guy but still belts do definitely help out with bracing during these lifts).
Plus you can still work on your core strength and still wear a belt (that's what I do).
I watched your ab rollout video after this one. Hell, you did not age the last 4 years XD .
I don't know this guy but he looks like he is one of those guys that squat in running shoes.
When this Mario guy comes across my shorts I contemplate finding where he lives.
I use belt while sleeping to increase my sleep volume.
I lifted without a belt for a very long time. I do use a belt when I squat heavy but as crazy as it sounds i deadlift better beltless than with one. I have no idea why. That being said I am still very pro belt
I find that my deadlift feels better without the belt, but my deadlift with a belt is much higher than my raw deadlift.
The belt can mess with the set positioning for some people. That could be why you prefer beltless!
This Mario dude reminds me of the typical UFC casual fans who try their best to sound as intelligent and knowledgeable as possible, but embarrass themselves in the process. And considering the fact he is equating a fight belt which is basically equivalent to a trophy to an actual weight lifting belt tells me everything I need to know about him. You roasted him just as badly as he roasted himself with this garbage take lol.
I do not deny the benefits of the belt, but I do prefer not to wear the belt. Maybe someday I will add it. It seems like a lot of people nowadays will go against common knowledge and facts to be unique.
I like a belt for some lifts. 🤷♂️
This guy gets way too much attention recently for how little good content he puts out.
He knows how to play the YT shorts algorithm for sure. Apart from that he's mediocre from whatever I've seen
Sick of him at this point
OMFG this is stupid. When you learn to brace hard with a belt you actually learn what it feels like to brace hard, and then you can brace harder when you don't have a belt.
So I wear a belt when I train so that when I have to brace outside of the gym I can know I'm bracing hard enough, and that absolutely does prevent injury. This guy is literally preaching the exact opposite of what's real.
He can join the "breathe out, and tighten down" crowd. That's his level of knowledge about bracing.

Mario is a professional troll
Dude, prepare to get some beef with him. He's the douchiest youtuber i have seen that he makes greg doucette look like a saint. I know that you probably won't care much about him, but just the way he talks and belittle other fitness youtubers, especially to justin lee is the most infuriating shit i've seen in a while. If you've seen his comment section, you'd probably know mario's viewers are mostly younger audiences, just from the way they say L or something alike.
Younger guy here, i dont see how anyone would watch mario´s channel. He purposefully makes bad points so he could get called out, there is also a good chance he has bought subs
@@derekfrommoreuprightrowsmo600 well his strategy appears to be working then! I'm not big on tiktok, which is where he came from I guess. But he appeared in my UA-cam feed a couple wwwks ago and I found myself saying wtf is this bs lol

Which belts do you recommend?
For a powerlifting style belt I own an inzer forever belt. One time purchase, highest quality on the market. Can't really beat that imo
@@EnkiriElite I’ve always heard great things about Pioneer. Family owned and provides fully customizable options.
@@otterdonnelly9959 I have as well! Just don't have any personal experience with their products
@@EnkiriElite Idk if that belt has this feature, but some Pioneer belts have the zigzag pattern of holes as opposed to a straight line of holes. This gives you a more "precise" holing system. It's the one thing that could be gamechanging for some people. When gaining weight or losing weight continuously for a long time, it can be nice to always have a certain level of tightness instead of having it be loose, too tight, perfect, loose, and so on every 2-3 weeks.
No, he's a clown, they are only overrated because at this point I can't fit one in my gym bag
that kid's whole channel is about shaming bodybuilders and simping for leon edwards 😂
Belts, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, and all that really is unnecessary. Especially unnecessary for beginners.
He started this video with a roast wow. Common Enkiri W
Belts don't substitute for core strength. They allow the user to activate MORE core strength. If someone uses a belt for most of their workout but also constantly challenge their core with ab specific movements, then I don't see it as a problem.
Sick intro
I feel like the people who still put out "hot takes" like that are just trolls looking for attention. Maybe that's wishful thinking, tho.
Counterpoint: his video is less than a minute and I have the attention span of a goldfish so...
this guy just flashes his degree and cpt cert around while giving awful advice/recommendations making other knowledgable professionals look bad in the process but that's what typically gets the clicks and money so he's just gonna keep doing it regardless of criticism
hes not smmart at all
This is the guy that says " small calves= fight better " lol, huge copium
The need for fitness 'influencers' to churn out daily content leads to a lot of dumb takes. I wish people would go back to treating fitness as an art and realize that there are many ways to get there and the best route is different for each individual. Do belts make you enjoy and do more squats? Then that's exactly what you need. Optimality is utopian and doesn't work.
"Coach" Mario...
Is that kids channel even significantly popular?
Way more than mine! Based on sub count anyway. The short in question has 16k likes.
I can’t get over general public. Sometimes the worse the content the more popular the video. Jeff makes a video on how great curls are and it’s his most popular video.
Thank you for pointing out the relevance of context! I have done a lot of lifting with no belts for different reasons. With years of lifting at powerlifting gym and doing research did I understood the importance of using one and the advantage of using one. I use them as well. His video was just emotional and dramatic with no supporting reasons.
Mario is a chronic shitposter lol
The word overrated is overrated.
Whatever dude, we all know your mom can squat 315 for reps😄
