“Over the Japanese dude sitting on your face” in 1976 Ali “fought” a Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki in a mixed rules match. Not much really happened in the bout aside from jabs and leg kicks. Rip Antonio Inoki
"I'll school you through your bug spray, off your Broadway play
Over the Japanese dude sitting on your face!

A reference to the Larry Bird and Michael Jordan McDonald's commercial, where the final shooting contest challenge was to make the basket "off the expressway, through the river, off the billboard, through the window, off the wall, nothing but net".
Was the "japanese dude" line in reference to Antonio Inoki, the wrestler who fought Ali to a time limit draw in what is now known as one of the first MMA fights? I feel like thats the only reference i can think of for that?

"You fight like the little girls that make your Nike shoes" is single-handedly the most underrated line in the series
100%!
The most underrated line was the "sold out to crackers" joke 💀
Yessir
@@deorty It is underrated, just not as much as this one
@@msmwkwksjdmsmsjdjdjc6044 I wouldn't even say that because it's just a generic race joke realistically I don't even think it has any truth behind it
They even re-enacted the "Get up and fight, sucka!" pose from Muhammad Ali's fight against Sonny Liston. And that George Foreman line, damn! This battle is underrated for sure.
1:15 his foot work is legit
Considering that Muhammad Ali used to rhyme when dissing people in and out of the ring for entertainment and loved hip hop, I'd imagine he would of loved this.
Well considering he was alive when this came out, we can only hope he saw it :(
I don't think he would like the double dribbling line 😂
Would have*
I really hope he seen it as he was still alive when this came out
Is it me or did his voice got deeper after 7 years?!?!

Jordan Peele said: "Here comes Jordan."
I love the double meaning, intentional or not.
Can you explain how it’s a double meaning? I don’t know much about Michael Jordan
@@isaacyeon6334 cause jordan peele played ali, he was both saying "oh, here comes michael jordan, being an idiot" and saying "here comes jordan peele, about to spit some dope lines"
also it's like the commentators always goin' "here comes jordan" when he's about to score.
@@mackavelly so there’s a triple meaning lmao
@MUFC claiming that any and all logic or good decision-making will be extinct by 2070 is pretty dark.
Ali has the victory on this one, no question. It also doesn't hurt that in life the man himself was the champion of poetic insults as much as he was of the ring. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't include a lyric involving the fabled phantom punch, but not everything can make it into one battle alone.
"You fight like the little girls who make your Nike shoes" and "Now you double-dribble balls that nobody can see" are 2 huge roasts
This is absolutely the most underrated one. The flows are so smooth.
& the disses go hard
Right?! Been watching erb casually for years and never saw this one. Definitely underrated.
2 words, Stevie wonder
Especially Muhammad Ali’s first four lines
56m thats more than most modern videos
I love how Ali turns up the intensity after MJ calls him Cassius. The "here comes jordan, big tongue wobblin..." part straight up sounds like something Ali would have said.
Imagine redoing this now, but adding the MJ taking it personal part into it
@@projectjt3149 thought you meant michael jackson for a second i was like what
@@projectjt3149 Muhammad Ali would knock him out, mj can't get personal with boxers, he thought he saw a ghost when he saw Mike tyson🤣
I love that part as well. Ali hated being called "Cassius" because that was his "slave" name
If Ali was a bad boxer (and born 40 years later) he would have made an excellent rapper.
"You needed a movement because you're so full of shit" is a criminally underrated bar.
BS
I just now got it. Dang yeah that is an amazing one
I think it was a reference to the nation of Islam
@@maleexile9053 Probably so, plus the whole "Ali movement" in reference to social rights activism. People always said he had a movement. Jordan is saying it was a bowel movement, as in he had to go shit, because he was full of it.
@@Liquorice_Monster oh that explains it
When I watched this all those years ago I never had such a deep insightful appreciation for MJ and Ali but now seeing it again is incredible. What a heroic couple of GOATS
"Coming at me is gambling, you've got a problem"
Very underrated line
I don’t have a gambling problem. I have a competing problem.
Didn’t even notice it until I came back years later never realized how good of a line it was
@@ligma6553 there’s a rumor that mj supposedly had a gambling problem and that he was forced to step away from the league, and that’s why he “retired” for one of his retirements
Hit em with the “stop get some help”
oh, thanks, idk what that line meant. i clicked bc i saw key + peele, i really dont know bball or mj hx.
"Your whole basketball career turned whack when you came back a Wizard like Gandalf the Black" WTF I'm crying :D
It bothers me that that line goes under the radar. That was my favorite line in the battle.
@Lautaro Lencina It's a reference to MJ's comeback after he 'retired' for the second time after the second three-peat. He came back and played for Washington Wizards. Wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. After that he retired for the third and final (?) time.
This is the best line in the battle. Just so smooth and witty
@@saltycycling WHAT?? MJ WAS GREAT UNTIL HE GOT AN INJURY WHICH COST THE TEAM THE CHANCE TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.
@MUFC But it's still a terrible sport. Besides, by 2070, you and damn near everyone else reading your comment will be dead. Certainly dead by 2100... so... what's it matter?
This is still so fire, coming back to ERB every few weeks to listen to a lit vid and brighten the mood. Works every time. Thx NP+EL

Right?!
*"Man you make me sick, but I'm better with the flu"*
_Michael Jordan was known for the 'Flu-Game, the 1997 finals against Utah while having flu symptoms caused by alleged food poisoning. Scored 38 points. Awesome line_
Wow!! This is a big part of why I'm such a huge fan of ERB, I think almost every line must relate to some historical situation or fact and I learn something new nearly every time I binge them. 🤣
It doesn't even dawn on me at times that people don't know what the reference is.
Also...just a side not, but 38 in that particular era is more akin to...45-50 now. I don't recall the final score of that game, but the average games were in the 80s or a high scoring game was in the 90s.
Jordan was just...next level. LeBron is great, but Jordan was...different. He was psychotic in his competitive nature. That shit was unhealthy, but it made him that great.
MJ and Walter Payton both played their games with the Flu.
There are so many Jordan references coming from a big fan

Ali actually wrote some stuff that was arguably rap (ua-cam.com/video/QBAcrP6mPjY/v-deo.html), and this is a really good recreation of his flow and style of speaking in general.
