  • The FMS Ranger is in my opinion one of the best RC Planes for beginners, and will take your flying to the next level. Attaching the included floats bring a whole new level of fun.. LInk to this plane: www.fmshobby.c...

I’ve been flying my FMS Ranger on floats and have been LOVING it!! Even uploaded a couple videos 😅 Pop that front landing gear off to get the full look! Great flying, subscribed

Yep, was gonna take the gear off, but flew it later that morning off the runway.. Wanted to minimize the effort...

What a fun video brother! Great to see you and Earl having a blast! Maybe taking the weight of that nose gear off the very front of the plane might help with the takeoff?

I enjoyed that - looked like you were having a lot of fun. Breaking away from the surface tension ? I have heard that if there is a little ripple on the water it might help. But I love that you had such calm air to fly in !

Try putting Rain-X on the bottom of the Floats. Gained 4 mph on cousin's Jet SKI. Try on a scrap piece of plastic first, to bar any adverse chemical reactions. I gained 2mph on my pontoon boat, back in the day. Oh, if you treat the Floats, be sure to have the "reverse thrust" set up, or you might have to chase it after it gets to the pond bank. Just sayin'. Good luck.

Havent maiden'd mine yet, I think Im gonna put a couple coats of Meguires ceramic coat on the floats. Works well on my boats!

@@robertlawrence6606 that could help. I think pushing the CG back helped enable to plane to lift off. Also max out the elevator

You don't need a boat, you need a fishing rod. :)

I think that puddle is so flat calm (and maybe a little stagnant- surface film) that its harder to break free of the surface tension. A larger pond or lake with a little breeze and water ripple would probably be much easier. I have to try it someday. Many lakes and reservoirs by me.

Maybe.. I'll lighten up the nose a bit more and see if that helps.. (More elev throw too...).

@@SteffenRC I wish the nose wheel/gear was an easy off and on.

Will - Do I remember correctly that you were using something like a 7 channel 'Lemon' receiver in one of your planes ? If so, I was wondering how it performed flying and especially with a range check. I have tried a few other receivers and found that most of them will not range check out to 30 yards like a Spektrum. One notable disappointment - trying an 'Admiral' receiver - and the plane flew out just past 100 feet - went wacka wacka - and crashed.
I hope you don't mind me asking - but if you have experience with a 'Lemon' I would appreciate your views. Thanks !

I've bought several odd ball RXs for some of my planes. The cheap OrangeRX 4 channel for $15 off amazon which I have in small planes that I keep close. I have 2 of the LemonRX 7channel with dual antennas. Using one in a T-28 and the other in the FMS Integral. Both range tested great and I'm flown the heck out of both with wonderful results. I sure like my battery voltage telemetry though. I understand Lemon make a rx with that.. I may try it out for fun...

You mentioned taking off from snow and I was wondering if theres a certain temperature that you think is too cold for the battery/electonics on these planes? I live in MN and it gets pretty cold here in the winter but the frozen lakes provide excellent area to fly.

I fly in all weather. Now, St. Louis, MO isn't as cold as MN, but as long as my fingers are working, then I'm flying....
