SAR graduate in 1995 and QM2(SW).... The privilege to serve as a SAR with 3 water rescues was the most rewarding experience of my military career. If you think this is for you, pursue your dream. You won't regret it.

I was devestated and depressed when they told me I couldn't be an Air Rescue Swimmer... something I dreamed of and went at for years. I couldn't because of my eyesight not be at least near perfect, and I have to wait around 4 years to get lasik eye surgery before ever thinking about doing it, but I am in the Navy nonetheless as an EM which is alright but not my dream, but when I get Lasik you bet i'm transferring jobs. Just proof that you need to start somewhere to aim high sometimes. HOOYAH

@Hector3158 um best guess, ask to train with your college swim team, thats the level you need to be at to be a rescue swimmer, otherwise talk with a recruiter, some are ASW, if your serious and ready, talk to them, they usually start giving you a workout

@Hector3158 I am currently in the Navy DEP program and I am my job is going to be an AIRR. In my DEP pool we had a guy that didn't have citizenship in the US, but he could still enlist. You would have to go into the Navy as unlisted and the Navy would help get paperwork through quickly. Once in you would probably have to serve a few years at a lower level job, but you would be able to work your way up to AIRR. If you want to know more personal message me.

I agree with every person in this video, especially AWR1 Brandon at the end. I have the best job in the Navy, hands down. My job is to save your ass, and there is no greater feeling in the world than knowing that this is what I was put on this earth for
    SAR

@deltaecho1 I know they guy who you say was lying, and I want you to know that I know he has put his own life on the line to pull pilots out of the water. There's not one rescue swimmer in the navy that wouldn't do what they have to to make sure that someone else gets to see their family again, myself included.

No. There can be no colorblindness. If you wear glasses then both your eyes cant be worst than 20/100 and with glasses they have to be corrected to 20/20.

Continued.. VE+AR+MK+AS=210, Eyes: Normal depth perception, and uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100. Body fat must be less than or equal to 22% males and 30% females. If you've had hay fever, asthma, bee sting/food allergy reaction, and chronic motion sickness are all disqualifying. (I'd check for waivers though its always possible they may waive it if not too serious) HOOYAH! and good luck!
