Been watching for a couple of years but I just wanted to say I really appreciate the time and effort you and Nancy put into these videos. I love being able to see the entire process in one video. Thank you both!!
I've followed your bucket advice for a few years now. Always have a nice crop of fresh potatoes. I should probably start a few buckets each month to have a better supply. I have to say that you and your wife are what the heartland is all about. You are a blessing for us all. And thanks for that.
Spring 2021, I planted my first small bed of potatoes, my harvest was like yours but, i was proud!!!! Thank you Hollis and Nancy for sharing and encouraging us to grow our own food no matter how big or small the garden is, just do it!!!!!!!
Right on time! We are considering planting potatoes in buckets this year. Thanks for all you do, guys! (Oh, how I anticipate hearing Nancy say "have a blessed day!" at the end of every video. Love her!)
I just wanted to thank you guys for sharing your gardening knowledge. I failed at growing bell peppers for SEVERAL years, never quit. Watched your video on bell peppers and last summer I had the best harvest that I've EVER had. Thanks for all that you do, Blessings to you and your Family.
Hello! I just want to send some friendly love to you two today! This is one of the first channels I followed since I reignited my passion for gardening 2 years ago. I have followed you ever since and I have loved seeing your homestead progress. The original potato series is actually what I started with and have had great harvests the last two years. I am a 29 yr old single mom to a 7 yr old girl and a full time 5th grade teacher. Gardening these last two years has really changed so much within me from my relationship with my little girl, to knowing myself. I credit you two for also helping me use gardening to connect with God and deepen my faith. Again, I appreciate the effort and work you two put in with your videos. Thank you and God bless you, your marriage and your homestead. ❤
You have a beautiful property. Thank you for your videos. I appreciate that you show beginning to harvest. I know that has to be a challenge to put together. Happy planting
Hollis, I appreciate y'alls videos. You make gardening fun. Talk about earthly rewards! You get to harvest everything with Ms Nancy which is the best bonus in this world. Where's your secret sauce?? Drop some minnows in those buckets. Nah, Ik Ik why not. God bless y'all. Can't wait to see what 2022 holds
A great video. We live in Central Florida and have grown the Red Pontiac potatoes. They do great here. We've gotten huge harvests. Our potato planting time is January. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Thanks.
I love that you show the good and the bad. I remember in the first five gallon bucket potato videos you mentioned this variety is a determinate variety. Even a small harvest gives you a better tasting potato than any store bought one. I have a couple spots in the yard where I throw potatoes that have sprouted in the pantry. So glad y'all are back!!
Thank you for being such a loving subscriber and a part of our homestead family. I appreciate all your encouraging comments you always leave for us. It means more to us than you will ever know. Have a peaceful week. Hope you continue to enjoy the videos. The best is yet to come ❤️
I had a surprise in my garden. I put a sprouted potato peel in the garden and forgot about it. I noticed it had sprouted above the soil, but paid no attention. The other day i dug in and found one big potato had grown from just that little peel.
@@HollisNancysHomestead 🙂 ahhh... well, it's easiest to tell the truth. Y’all are just too amazing. Such sweet, down home people. And the work y’all put into these videos and your garden, just wow. It is very much appreciated!! Thank y’all, and God bless you both and all you do 🙂

What an encouraging video! Sorry your potatoes didn't come out as good as you hoped, but it made me feel better about my potato disaster! I had a dozen of those big blue buckets and it rained everyday here in Orlando! I didn't get a single one! But after watching this, you've given me the encouragement to try again! God bless you both!
Yes sir, I have lost many Tater crops to rain. The weather really affects them. This was not my best harvest at all but always thankful for anything the Lord gives us.
Hey there Hollis and Nancy. I live in a urban area near Orlando, FL. Thus I am very interested in your wonderful videos. Knowing what part of the year you're planting each crop would be a great help. Would love to share with you pictures of how things grow. God Bless you and your ministry.
Thank you Casey❤️❤️❤️. So glad you are enjoying our channel. We have many new videos coming your way this year. Best of luck to your garden this spring. Have a peaceful weekend 🙏
Right, I will try this out. I don't containers, but I found potatoe growing bags I bought a few years ago. Got some seed potatoes which I can now plant. It's a variety also known as "Christmas Potatoes" over here in the UK. Got some good soil. Instead of mulch, for the top layer, I will try using crushed cockle shells. That should also deal with the slugs. I have also planted some carrots, leeks and ... celery and a couple of garlic into the same container. Just realised that I need to start keeping a log of what is in which container :-) . All fast growing so should enjoy them in a few weeks. Your videos are really interesting and educational. I enjoyed the one in which you explain what actually happens below the ground with potatoes in detail, using a drawing. Thank you.
Great advice. I never thought of Florida as potato growing country. The kennebec is a maine potato and does excellent here in new England. I've grown bumper yields in some bizarre situations. Love your channel Hollis and Nancy. Well done!
What you say is so true. Here it is January 2022 and I have containers of bushy potatoes that I robbed for Christmas and New Years new potatoes. They are still healthy and happy. Never had that happen before. Some years all I get are little ones, some years big harvest, some not much but since I use ends with eyes from market potatoes, it is what it is and I am lucky for what I get.
