Because the F4 are so beloved a race swap will Cause arguing and people calling people racist. Just like Annabeth no one asked her to be black. But now she is and people who say the whole point is for her to be a blonde valley girl, who tried to show she’s not dumb is gone. But other characters like Nick Fury doesn’t matter what race he is. It’s just the context of the race swap. If it’s swapping for the sake of inclusion it’s bad but if it’s swapping because a better story can be told than sure.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau = Doctor Doom ... despite being a bit older, Doom's face is mangled so makeup will make him younger. Plus the mask. And he's Danish, so near the right area for Latvia. And an amazing actor who could provide great gravitas to the role. Especially if it's an ongoing one. Finally his connection to GoT shows that he's capable of being a standout in a franchise property.
Much love for the Natasha Lyonne shout-out. Season 1 of Russian Doll remains one of my all-time favorite pieces of streaming content in the last five years, and it strongly demonstrates her her capabilities as a likeable and down-to-earth leading lady.

I think Jason Segal actually works pretty well. The dude has some great range. If your problem is that the one himym episode where he fights a guy wasn’t threatening enough, watch Windfall. He’s pretty darn intimidating in that one. Only problem is I’m not sure he would want to do it. If you listen to interviews about him talking about himym, he seems like he wouldn’t want to get tied up in another role he has to commit to for a long time.
i think he would be great at it as well. He deserves a big role like that. But yeah a long franchise again might not be the thing he'd be up for. To me Ben it's the toughest cast of the 4 suprisingly. They are all very complex characters but Ben really has to win people's hearts to work properly. And i always kinda saw Ben as the glue of the group.

@edkmusic9487 yeah, the way the initial comic went WILDLY off the rails (Ult Reed is responsible for Marvel Zombies, for instance), and then used as a source for THAT FF movie. And even to this day the Maker still shows up in comics, and it's NEVER good. Why I think people should just steer clear of that run.
My pick for Ben Grimm is Paul Walter Hauser. I did look it up and he is Jewish descent. I believe it said his mother was Jewish. He’s got that tough lovable guy feel to me, and his range is amazing so he can do comedic timing but also the bravado that comes from someone who’s not afraid to throw down every once in awhile. He reminds me a lot of Michael Chiklis from FF back in 2005, and I think he has the right vibe. I think they'll be pulling a Homecoming, and skipping the origin story, because just like Homecoming, there are 2 origin story movies that came out in the last 20 years, so they're gonna avoid retreading old ground. We might get flashbacks to it, or just through dialogue, but I certainly hope that's what they'll do.
I haven’t seen Jasan Segel in many projects, but he puts on a fantastic performance in Our Friend, co-starring with Dakota Johnson and Casey Affleck. He’s more of a gentle guy in that movie but I think it’s a strong performance worth checking out
Just wanted to support Jason Segal as the thing a little bit. He was in a movie called Windfall recently where he played this very conflicted and emotional criminal in a botched robbery of a tech billionaires house. Not really Ben Grimm energy, but the movie showed that he does have range to be threatening and emotional and relatable. I mean he’s not my number one choice but I think it could work.

This was interesting, I definitely don’t see Margot Robbie being Sue. Whoever they cast as Sue & Johnny have to be believable as siblings, 3-4year age gap. I also think Reed, Ben, and Viktor should be about 8-10 years older. The age gaps really bring out the family dynamic better than if all of them were about the same age. The 2005 movie’s casting was perfect for its time.

I'm surprised the list didn't include Dacre Montgomery as Johnny and Emily Blunt as Sue. Dacre is my fan cast for Johnny and I don't have a particular choice for Reed or Sue, but Krasinski and Blunt are fine if they get it, if not that's fine too, and like you Ben is a difficulty for me, I can't seem to find someone I like as Ben. I don't think this movie will have Galactus or any of his heralds, I say this because I have a feeling the moment they bring in Galactus he will immediately overshadow Kang, and with the Multiverse Saga being very much Kangs thing it would feel like a disservice to the character to get to like right before his title movie (Kang Dynasty) and then already introduce his replacement. I do think Galactus and his heralds will be around though, but as a credits scene to Secret Wars, perhaps as a name-drop in the Marvels or another space based project, but I don't think we will physically see or hear Galactus until a credits scene for Secret Wars. I agree that we'll have Doom in this movie, but I don't think he'll be the main villain of the movie, though he'll likely be some form of antagonist, and I don't think we'll see him in his armor until the end of the movie, perhaps in a credits scene. If they don't just go straight to Molecule Man as is rumored, I could see someone like Dragon Man or Red Ghost or perhaps the Frightful Four or something as the main villain of this movie. Perhaps Mole Man as well, they were close to having him in Fant4stic, Tim Blake Nelson's character was intended to be him from what I understand, so perhaps they pay that off in the same way they paid off the Vulture villain thing from Tobey's Spider-Man 4 in Homecoming and the Sinister Six plans from Amazing Spider-Man in No Way Home. Fantastic Four has many more villains than Doom, and from what I understand fans want to see someone other than Doom as the main villain. I'd be interested to see what Lars Mikkelsen could do as Doom, but with him returning as Thrawn in Star Wars stuff that'll be kinda difficult, definitely someone with his vibes though would work as Doom. As far as other non-Fantastic Four characters appearing in the film, I could see Iceman and Firestar from the X-Men as well as Spider-Man showing up as classmates of Johnny's at University, perhaps an Inhuman character, maybe some sort of alien character, and then if Franklin and Valeria are around maybe someone to bring them into Young Avengers.
My original list was: - Glenn Howerton as Reed - Alexandra Daddario as Sue - Austin Butler as Johnny - Jason Segel as Ben And it looks like we’re getting: - Adam Driver as Reed - Margot Robbie as Sue - Paul Mescal as Johnny - Seth Rogen as Ben Actually don’t hate the likely players, but it’s not mind blowing casting imo. I think Glenn could’ve been an amazing Reed, he would bring an intense and sardonic vibe to the role, and I could totally buy that he’s a genius who’s only good because of the love he has for his family. Don’t know if Driver will be able to pull that off tbh, and the character needs to walk the fine line between hero and villain, plus come across as the smartest character in the Marvel universe. Seth playing himself as Ben Grimm would actually work. Ben as this washed up pilot that Reed vouches for would be kinda awesome. We also need him to be the comedic relief, and Seth is great at playing the butt of the joke without coming across as a push over. Also… Wouldn’t it be great to get a scene down the line of The Thing and Wong smoking a joint? I swear I’m not trying to be sarcastic, that would be hilarious.

You know there’s some rumored castings for the Fantastic Four like Adam Driver and Jodie Comer that are not just talented actors but so suited for those characters, and then you get your Seth Rogen, Amanda Seyfried, and Jason Segel, who despite being talented actors, are just awful choices that based on their work have not showed me they can play these characters convincingly. Honestly I’m at this point where I just want them to announce the cast now so we can end this.
OH! And a sub-theory on Doctor Doom: What if Latveria is the location of another Vibranium meteor? Maybe smaller, so they have to be more judicious in its use, and can't quite make the techno-utopia of Wakanda. But it does give the country, and it's ruling family, their isolationist world view.

Galactus heralds (at least the most significant ones): Silver Surfer, Terrax, Firelord, Air-Walker, Stardust, Nova (Frankie Raye), probably more, and "Scout" wanted to be one.
As a die hard Reed fan, I really appreciated the fatherly attitude that John Krasinski put into the role and thought it fit his character well. He wasn't just incredibly smart, he had a level headed kinda approach that turned his super genius into a balancing act. If I hadn't seen him in MoM, I think I'd be significantly more lukewarm on him now. Adam Driver also goes hard, make no mistake

I'd recommend watching The End of the Tour if you're interested in seeing Jason Segel in a different mode. Doesn't fall into the "I was in a street gang" energy that Ben Grimm needs, but it's a terrific performance nonetheless. One of my favourite films of that year.

@edkmusic9487 yeah, the way the initial comic went WILDLY off the rails (Ult Reed is responsible for Marvel Zombies, for instance), and then used as a source for THAT FF movie.
And even to this day the Maker still shows up in comics, and it's NEVER good.
Why I think people should just steer clear of that run.

My pick for Ben Grimm is Paul Walter Hauser. I did look it up and he is Jewish descent. I believe it said his mother was Jewish. He’s got that tough lovable guy feel to me, and his range is amazing so he can do comedic timing but also the bravado that comes from someone who’s not afraid to throw down every once in awhile. He reminds me a lot of Michael Chiklis from FF back in 2005, and I think he has the right vibe. Praying to God some Marvel employee or Sarah Finn Casting employee is out scouring the Internet and looking at these comments. 😂
He’s make a great Thing … I actually think if he could get ripped, he’d be a really interesting left field choice for Wolverine.

I think they'll be pulling a Homecoming, and skipping the origin story, because just like Homecoming, there are 2 origin story movies that came out in the last 20 years, so they're gonna avoid retreading old ground. We might get flashbacks to it, or just through dialogue, but I certainly hope that's what they'll do.
I haven’t seen Jasan Segel in many projects, but he puts on a fantastic performance in Our Friend, co-starring with Dakota Johnson and Casey Affleck. He’s more of a gentle guy in that movie but I think it’s a strong performance worth checking out
Just wanted to support Jason Segal as the thing a little bit. He was in a movie called Windfall recently where he played this very conflicted and emotional criminal in a botched robbery of a tech billionaires house.
Not really Ben Grimm energy, but the movie showed that he does have range to be threatening and emotional and relatable.
I mean he’s not my number one choice but I think it could work.
Y'know the more I think the more I kind of really like the idea of Raimi as Surfer. He'd pull off that otherworldly astral adonis energy well

Segel in I Love You, Man is the most sorta menacing I’ve seen him. But I agree…even with that I don’t think it quite fits. the Thing is the hardest of the 4.
This was interesting, I definitely don’t see Margot Robbie being Sue. Whoever they cast as Sue & Johnny have to be believable as siblings, 3-4year age gap. I also think Reed, Ben, and Viktor should be about 8-10 years older. The age gaps really bring out the family dynamic better than if all of them were about the same age. The 2005 movie’s casting was perfect for its time.

I'm surprised the list didn't include Dacre Montgomery as Johnny and Emily Blunt as Sue. Dacre is my fan cast for Johnny and I don't have a particular choice for Reed or Sue, but Krasinski and Blunt are fine if they get it, if not that's fine too, and like you Ben is a difficulty for me, I can't seem to find someone I like as Ben.
I don't think this movie will have Galactus or any of his heralds, I say this because I have a feeling the moment they bring in Galactus he will immediately overshadow Kang, and with the Multiverse Saga being very much Kangs thing it would feel like a disservice to the character to get to like right before his title movie (Kang Dynasty) and then already introduce his replacement. I do think Galactus and his heralds will be around though, but as a credits scene to Secret Wars, perhaps as a name-drop in the Marvels or another space based project, but I don't think we will physically see or hear Galactus until a credits scene for Secret Wars.
I agree that we'll have Doom in this movie, but I don't think he'll be the main villain of the movie, though he'll likely be some form of antagonist, and I don't think we'll see him in his armor until the end of the movie, perhaps in a credits scene. If they don't just go straight to Molecule Man as is rumored, I could see someone like Dragon Man or Red Ghost or perhaps the Frightful Four or something as the main villain of this movie. Perhaps Mole Man as well, they were close to having him in Fant4stic, Tim Blake Nelson's character was intended to be him from what I understand, so perhaps they pay that off in the same way they paid off the Vulture villain thing from Tobey's Spider-Man 4 in Homecoming and the Sinister Six plans from Amazing Spider-Man in No Way Home. Fantastic Four has many more villains than Doom, and from what I understand fans want to see someone other than Doom as the main villain. I'd be interested to see what Lars Mikkelsen could do as Doom, but with him returning as Thrawn in Star Wars stuff that'll be kinda difficult, definitely someone with his vibes though would work as Doom.
As far as other non-Fantastic Four characters appearing in the film, I could see Iceman and Firestar from the X-Men as well as Spider-Man showing up as classmates of Johnny's at University, perhaps an Inhuman character, maybe some sort of alien character, and then if Franklin and Valeria are around maybe someone to bring them into Young Avengers.

Actually don’t hate the likely players, but it’s not mind blowing casting imo. I think Glenn could’ve been an amazing Reed, he would bring an intense and sardonic vibe to the role, and I could totally buy that he’s a genius who’s only good because of the love he has for his family. Don’t know if Driver will be able to pull that off tbh, and the character needs to walk the fine line between hero and villain, plus come across as the smartest character in the Marvel universe.
Seth playing himself as Ben Grimm would actually work. Ben as this washed up pilot that Reed vouches for would be kinda awesome. We also need him to be the comedic relief, and Seth is great at playing the butt of the joke without coming across as a push over. Also… Wouldn’t it be great to get a scene down the line of The Thing and Wong smoking a joint? I swear I’m not trying to be sarcastic, that would be hilarious.
Austin Butler allegedly had reached out to Marvel for the Human Torch role so if that's true, he's open to playing the role, which I'm absolutely fine with

You know there’s some rumored castings for the Fantastic Four like Adam Driver and Jodie Comer that are not just talented actors but so suited for those characters, and then you get your Seth Rogen, Amanda Seyfried, and Jason Segel, who despite being talented actors, are just awful choices that based on their work have not showed me they can play these characters convincingly.
Honestly I’m at this point where I just want them to announce the cast now so we can end this.

Galactus heralds (at least the most significant ones): Silver Surfer, Terrax, Firelord, Air-Walker, Stardust, Nova (Frankie Raye), probably more, and "Scout" wanted to be one.
As a die hard Reed fan, I really appreciated the fatherly attitude that John Krasinski put into the role and thought it fit his character well. He wasn't just incredibly smart, he had a level headed kinda approach that turned his super genius into a balancing act. If I hadn't seen him in MoM, I think I'd be significantly more lukewarm on him now.

I'd recommend watching The End of the Tour if you're interested in seeing Jason Segel in a different mode. Doesn't fall into the "I was in a street gang" energy that Ben Grimm needs, but it's a terrific performance nonetheless. One of my favourite films of that year.
