As a motorcycle rider myself this is my biggest fear; a situation you cannot avoid. Glad he's relatively ok.
Sitting in the middle of the road waiting to make a left seems to be the most vulnerable spot on the road....I try to make right turns and avoid being in this position if possible. Hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets back on two wheels.
This is why I avoid riding a motorcycle. Not worth the risk.

really if you look at many YT car accidents you can be in truck and get little bumped from behind then enter barrel rolls... operating motor vehicle is lottery for all of us, but i agree with suggestions to at least keep away from clusters if possible

Death is EASY compared to a recovery like this. These are the kind of accidents that leave people homeless and sometimes with serious PTSD, which takes YEARS of neurological recovery, and that's IF they can survive that phase of PTSD where you feel utterly hopeless and like you have no reason whatsoever to live.

@@le_th_ I agree it's a hard path ahead for the motorcycle rider and the truck driver but if you understand that the pain lets you know you're alive and that the criminal won't get the blessing that is when the pain is over. As long as they keep their head up and are thankful for their lives, they are infinitely better than the dead guy.

Same here. I try to implement the best road strategy possible while riding and I know that might not be enough. I figure everything is ordained by God and if he wants me to crash on my bike it will happen anyways even if it’s not my fault.

As a rider this scares me. I ride with full gear and I know even that is not enough. It is however better than no gear. Good thing he was wearing a helmet. I try to implement the best possible road strategy I can and even that might not be enough.

As a rider myself I was cringing thinking about someone rear ending him waiting for the light. Where I’m from in that case I’d have a yellow yield but not always. I always try and get out of that middle lane asap when I’m on my bike.

As a Canadian that’s been around nearly five decades now I still can’t wrap my head around having to go to the hospital and leaving with a bill.
🇨🇦 The only thing you’d pay for is the ambulance. If it’s a car accident or a work related need it’s covered by insurance.

US insurance is a scam. Doesn’t help that the Feds don’t ever do anything to keep prices anywhere near maintainable (after all, there’s no better customer than one who needs your product/service to live)

The healthcare in the US is not bad because of it not being free healthcare, it's bad because it's corrupt; fix that and it's not bad anymore even without it being payed by tax dollars. Taxes are theft, there's no way around it, now the US still have high taxes on top of no free healthcare, but no matter how you slice and dice it, everybody that isn't in the highest tier are being screwed by the tax system.
There is no free lunch.

Bought my first bike about 9 months ago.....videos like this make me question my decision.....I have confidence in my own ability to ride, but it's crazy accidents like this that get my attention.

Unfortunately the down side to owning any bike in today's world comes with added risks whether it's situations like this or people on their cell phones, glad the motorcyclist and the truck driver survived hopefully they have a smooth recovery as time goes on. Prayers for you guys. 🙏

Doesn’t the stolen car insurance provider have to cover the damages? Regardless of who’s driving the car. Car insurance doesn’t insure a driver it gives insurance to the vehicle

Where I'm from, insurance covers the driver, way more so than the vehicle. It's called "liability" when you're at fault and it's the largest portion of the total premium. A small amount covers vehicle repair or replacement cost. The cost for this is low because of the deductible and the fact that most vehicles are valued well under $100k and are depreciated. The liability might have to cover millions (to cover other victim's medical bills or on-going care, loss of income, etc.) so the cost for that coverage is high.
No, it doesn't cover a car stolen by someone else. Why would it? You pay to be insured, not to pay for a thief to be insured. Why would you pay for that?

I rode motorcycles on the track and was never concerned but within a half mile of riding on the street something always spooked me . This is my biggest concern even when in a car or truck , being stopped at an intersection and being vulnerable to others mistakes. You see cars that were sitting at a light pummeled by semis all the time after the truck swerved to avoid someone stopping in front of them .

the dude in the video was on his motorcycle when someone driving a stolen black car crashed into the grey truck that hit the motorcyclist (it’s cropped off so you can’t see the black car running into the grey truck). the motorcyclist is alive but badly injured. he has broken ribs, a collapsed lung, broken foot, broken arm. but he will be fine.
That was terrible. Glad he's alive and able to speak. Can't imagine how much pain he's in and he's not even taking any pain meds. Too bad the guy who stole the car died. He's the one responsible for the motorcycle injuries

Send his medical bills to the family of the driver that stole the car and caused the wreck. It’s that easy take the family to court because that’s a big law suit if they have insurance

In Spain (Europe), the motorcyclist doesn't need a "go fund me" to pay the hospital bills, no matter of the ensurance, the ensurance of the truck might cover the expenses and a possible compensantion, but even if there's no ensurances involved, health care is free and universal. What a disgusting system you have!

The same intersection where a few years ago a big rig lost the brakes and crossed pch the same way at high speed taking out a few cars with multiple fatalities, including himself, driver of the truck. Can't believe a lowlife in a stolen car can permanently change innocent people's lives! Just horrible and sickening people nowadays smh! Sometimes you see that light and a voice tells you that "it's just not your time." It's beyond miraculous that he survived and is fully conscious. The grace of God was on his side. Logically there's no way to explain how anyone can live through that kind of impact. I think I'll pass on getting a Motorcycle after seeing this. Life is to short and can be gone in a flash.
The motorcyclist name is Stephen Levey. He is alive but has had one hell of a time recuperating and is changed forever understandably. In his go fund me description he explains what happened, he gives links to the accident with more footage, he gave continuous updates from the accident to today so you can see how he was affected, and the grace of God he lives through this. The driver who caused the crash was a person who escaped a mental hospital and was on a chase from police. He or she they never disclosed the persons identity parished upon impact or due to the car catching fire I’m not sure which one but nonetheless the person is dead. The driver of the truck was injured, but they don’t say much about him/her. It’s crazy how life can change in a blink of an eye and if any of you have a heart out there, please donate to the Stephen because his medical bills are through the roof and this man deserves the help. Stay safe God bless

It's crazy he was involved in an accident where person that doesn't or isn't covered on the insurance because the car was reported stolen but still the car insurance should pick up his medical bills either him or the pickup truck should have insurance to pay out to this man who was severely injured sitting at a red light

The driver was clearly trying to commit suicide (unless he had a stroke or something and his foot got stuck on the gas). Because he was either hitting traffic or smoking the cliffside at high speed.

Unfortunately for the motorcyclist, he is most likely on his own as far as paying for his medical. The at-fault driver stole the car, so the insurance that's on the car itself won't cover ANYTHING caused by the thief/driver. The pickup truck that was hit and then hit him doesn't appear to have done anything wrong, so that's most likely to be a dead end. Th shows why you MUST protect yourself with GOOD insurance coverage that will cover you and protect you and your family in ANY eventuality.
What grinds my gears is a pos can do ALL this damage to property and bodily harm and the victims foot the bill
