Now that just looked like a fun car to build. No special requirements, no parameters that you had to meet. Just build it and drive it. Love those kind.
I’m not even a Delorean fanatic, and it hurts me to see this thing being manhandled like this. There’s only so many original parts left. Even if you want to do a swap, you don’t have to cut through so many components that just don’t exist anymore. Where’s the car guy love for cars?

I do love the velocity stacks...perfect! This is how the DeLorean SHOULD have been powered in the first place...big ol' V-8 (like a Pantera or a Vector)! Well done guys!
Awesome build! Do more with it on your main channel. Put an aluminum block in it to reduce the weight in the back, it might handle better (with better suspension too).
Living in Australia we don't get to watch anything on motor trend plus I was a subscriber but once they restricted what we could see I didn't bother anymore it wasn't worth it

FWIW, the original prototypes weighed about 500lbs less than the production models and were also mid engine like an MR2. I think it is fair to say what came out of the factory was not what the original designers had in mind from the rip.

Roadworthy rescue is motor trends best show! Cool episode only complaint is I wish the episodes were longer! Us gear heads like a little more detail building and more content of the car when it's finished so we can enjoy all there hard work...

It was more about the time though, smog regulations and import rules, and trying to start a car buisness was all just way too much. So it led to a limited run, and thanks to several famous uses of it, it is a cult of personality now. It makes most everyone smile still and is a feature everywhere it goes. So many of us Gen Xers dreamed of owning one sone day. Awesome you managed to get one! Will check your channel out. Did you keep engine original? I am sure they could be made work but it might take injection rework, wiring rework, etc I would think? Derek is just trying to be funny. Not sure it really had the desired effect though. PRV: Peugeot, Renault, Volvo. This three companies have developped this engine together in the 70's. Very reliable engine but not very powerfull. In the 90's a turbo version of this engine was engaged in the 24h of le Mans and put out 600 Hp on the Venturi 400 LM.
My father had a DeLorean back in the day and wished he had bought two, spent more time non starting and leaks! Lance Bush was looking for an DeLorean engine, the valley of death...hmm! Cheers from the UK.

The good thing is they still have a lot of these parts manufacturing original. I'm not sure but I saw the UA-cam video where there's tonnage stock parts new. 😊

So when I was a kid Delorean got busted at a motel near my house with way too much marching powder and possible other suspicious activities. It’s a weird car. Somehow he did better when he worked for Pontiac and figured out those GTO things. Nice video of nolstagia.
Worked on a few 20 years ago. The frames had dangerously serious rust problems. They were improperly powder coated. The powder coat delaminated and water got under the coating causing rapid corrosion. The V6 engines were less than anemic.
This build should have been on Derick's channel. Would have liked to see a much more in depth look at what it took to make this build happen.

Peugeot / Renault / Volvo 2.85 litre, V-6 with a single overhead cam per in each head - power output strangled by US emission laws.
And Bosch Jetronic. Which is great when it works.

As a DeLorean owner I had issue with “the car should have lasted 10 minutes.” My car brings smiles wherever it goes and the values are only going up.

Reliable, plenty of HP, great aftermarket performance support, and they fit nicely in a Delorean. It's a win win.
Now it actually matches the sound with the engine. In the movie they had that v8 sound with stock 6 banger.

V stands for Volvo. And the "flapper" is an airflow meter. Think this are a k-jetronic injection system.
