Here in Australia 🇦🇺 we call them Utes and we love them. I love old cars my daily driver is a 1965 Chrysler Valiant AP6 made in Australia 🇦🇺 like meself and it’s a joy to drive no computer screens no sensors and no power steering or air conditioning either but like I tell the kids that’s what the windows are for. She also has drum brakes which I find little trouble with because if you don’t speed like an idiot the old drum brakes are sweet. When you’re doing 55 miles an hour it feels like 80 so it’s just great.
I’m from aus too I’ve got a 1970 HT kingswood wagon 186, power steering & AC. Been sitting 30+ years. I used to watch Derek but he’s too big now (all sponsored and just in it for the money) pole barn garage is way better
My dad drove elcaminos as long as I can remember. I think he owned every body style except the last one ...they were made in Mexico and not available in Canada. This thing is absolutely beautiful to me. I'm 58 and I hope before I leave this rock that I can own one of these. Thank you for this video ....I'm picturing my dad driving in it. Wish he was still around so I could get him hooked on your videos like I am. Would love to watch an episode with him !
What a great rescue of this 1960 Chevy El Camino with upgrades on the front installing disk brakes, a new master cylinder, new carb and HEI distributor, new Crager wheels. Wow what an awesome old car!
Oh my God when the sparks flew from that starter made my day thanks. It was safe. Nothing happened. Good to know. I’m not the only one that this happened to you.
Born and raised in Amarillo. Not like the rest of Texas we get a lot of snow and cold actually worked at the ski shop growing up. Love that you’re in the panhandle all the great things that exist. Keep it up.

Mike you are a much braver man than me, considering the rust damage. Really not sure if brave is the right word but the old el Camino is back on the road and not collecting more dust.
I’ve done a couple of them old El Camino back glass & windshields! I’ve been doing auto glass my whole life my uncle owned a shop I worked for him for awhile than I moved out of Maryland to Texas & started my own glass business, I’m 40 years old I’ve been doing auto glass 25 years I started when I 15!

Used the Ol' Eldabroken. Nice. Great fix Derek. 👍 btw, my family and i stopped by and stayed in Amarillo Texas twice on our trip to and from the Grand Canyon about 2 yrs ago. Seems like an ok city. Im pretty sure i got a picture of that giant cowboy on the way. And we stopped by the Cadillac ranch also and sprayed on some of em. ✌️
More like VGG with decent editing. His 3 hour videos are unwatchable and only padding for more ad revenue. There was a recent one that literally had 15 minutes of him sitting in the cab of a truck honking the horn. If you call that good stuff, then enjoy.
Yeah, kinda miss his crazy fun talking and antics. But I'm sure he's testing the waters with this show and shortening parts for reasons. Business I'm sure.
I got snowed in in Amarillo Feb '84. Black ice on I40, stuck at a hwy truck stop for 16 hrs. When the road opened, the next 30 miles was 4" ice ruts at 15 mph. Yikes!
Welcome to the Panhandle! Snow? 20 minutes from my apartment in Amarillo, hearing of coming snow blizzard conditions, I hit it for the door and my car. 20 minutes later, I had barely made it through the "avalanche" of falling snow on the road and got to the front steps. By then, the snow was 3 ft deep, with deep drifting beginning. Trapped in the apartment for a couple of days, it was steaks, beer, and boredom. It was the next day when they found a frozen body buried in the snow at the corner......
The powerglide was a 2-speed transmission high take off in first gear higher than a turbo 350 and then a one-to-one drive in second gear that is why it became the go to automatic for racing cars!

Buddy of mine and I drove from Northeastern Tennessee all the way out to Palm Springs. We took the same route, but it looks like you took because we stated we stopped at the Cadillac ranch, the steakhouse twice . He wanted to stop at the place where you and Bentley stopped the old abandoned waffle place but I told him the snakes around I was OK just sitting in the car! We were driving our 2022 Silverado out there to pick up a 78 Thunderbird. We plucked it out of the field and it’s currently being worked on
I'm thinking that with that car's dubious past in conjunction with the higher front rake, I believe that car sported a hot big block at one time during it's life...
Great job Derek thanks for the entertainment. By the way that would probably be the only time that it might help to have that guard on the right angle death wheel, cutting up a wood floor. Happy and Blessed New year to you and yours.
