Thanks so much for this. I knitted a monogram square for a wedding afghan and wasn’t happy with one part of the pattern. There were two sets of five purl stitches that interfered with the look of the center letter pattern. I wondered if I could duplicate stitch in that valley and this technique worked perfectly. It's a little noticeable where I started the stitches but I think that will block out. Thanks again!
This is so useful! Someone had requested a scarf that had a long vertical stripe, but I couldn't figure out how to do it at all. Thank you so much, and it looks so easy! Question, can you make wider stripes this way as well?
Hold my beer! Now I'm adding the vertical trim stripes knitters didn't knew how to make in my latest sweater. Thank you! Will try to make it wider though, maybe connecting multiple lines.
Love this. Can we take it a step further though? How about keeping the whole piece in stockinette. Then, just drop the stitch down where you want the stripe of color. Now you can use the ladder where you dropped stitches to fill in with your color stripe. Have you tried it this way???
This is a very useful tip for vertical stripes without the added bulk. I'm guessing if you want the second color to be the same width as the first color, you would just do an equal number of knit and purl stitches. Does that sound right?
Hi. I would suggest using a much larger crochet hook than a 2.55mm. That's too small for that size yarn you're using. That's one of the reasons the hook gets stuck. Good job, though. : )
Hi Kirsten Can you help me out please I want to knit a batman logo design in Intarsia for my little boy but I can’t find anywhere that shows me how to do this can you help at all

Do you think this technique would still work for a wide vertical stripe that is ~10 stitches across?
Oh that’s cool, it’s like trying to fix a dropped stitch!
Lovely neat idea! Many thanks for sharing.
Any ideas for jogless knitting for two rows in circular knitting?
Can I create this purl valley with the double stockinette stitch that you have on your channel?

Ha, so true!!! As I’m not a crocheter, it is the largest one in my set and I decided to go with the “make it work” method. Thanks!
Haha. Ahh I see. But for those who do have crochet hooks... : )
Love it

Do a search on ravelry.com. That’s my go-to site for patterns.
I think I had that pink yarn before
