    Good coverage and easy to understand. I just think it's stupid that they use the same symbol for knits and purls just cause it's on a different row. Why can't we simply have blank be knit and dot be purl regarless of what side it's on?

    • @studioknit
      @studioknit  6 років тому +4

      Ha, I know, the symbol switch on the wrong side seems unnecessarily complicated at first. But, doing so allows you to see the pattern design in the chart.

    How do know how many stitches to cast on for a charted pattern? If the row contains 4 yarn overs in a 20 square row do you cast on 20 stitches or do you subtract the number of yarnovers and cast on 16 stitches? Thank you.

    Thanks for the lovely explanation.i have a problem can you help me.
    I have a fair Isle pattern in the round what confuses me is the chart given.
    It has numbers starting from the top left to right .i.e 1234 etc. Then right side too to bottom 1234 etc.
    Similarly it has the same order beginning on the left hand side vertical then horizontal 1234 etc.i have not seen a chart numbered like this. Hope you can help me.

    Charts are very scary. I am left handed but knit right handed my question is if you knit left handed do you still start from the right?

  • @billhz52
    @billhz52 2 роки тому

    Every even row that shows a purl dot is actually a knit. How so very confusing!! Every odd row shows the true stitch pattern one should do like a live map, but every even row does not. Why doesn't every even row visually show the true stitch pattern you should do? For instance the stockinette chart shows all knit stitches in the grid, but why would it not visually show a dot on the the even rows? Does this mean any symbol in even rows are also flipped to do the opposite? More confusion. I'm a novice.
