The pokemon slowly becomes immune to it over time.
I think the Ice/Bug could be really good, if it is just fast enough, just look at Volcarona, which has some harsh weaknesses as well. I could imagine: HP: 80 Att: 45 Def: 60 SpAtt: 140 SpDef: 100 Speed: 125 Plus, possibly having Quiver Dance, Blizzard, Bug Buzz and Hurricane?/HP Ground?/Flash Cannon?/Psychic? would make it at least decent.
Or just make it the early route bug. Ice is a very powerful type to have early in the game but since you usually throw that guy into the PC as soon as you catch your 7th Pokemon why not make it Bug/Ice?
Yeah, I mean any Pokemon is good enough with huge stats behind it. But I really like Elmar's idea, of it being the early route Bug Pokemon. Ice so near the beginning would be an awesome change of pace...
@@emperorcubone But I also feel like it would need a late evolution or else it would suck in competitive. It would also strengthen the power of the fire starter that usually already is the best one for the early routes. But of course it would be nice to see use of an ice type ingame.
@@emperorcubone the idea about an ice early Bug would be great, especially if the first or second arena is something it would be effective against, like grass. It is in Sinnoh already the 3rd ind Kanto the 4th, why not make it the second. The early strong arena for this hypothetical Ice,bug Pokemon would animate the trainer to keep it for a bit longer and see to what it evolves at last, which could be something fast, like Ribombee. It is not super-powerful, but just usefull enough to stay relevant. Also the ability and the learnset can make or break a Pokemon. I don't think you should define some of these combinations as bad. Like Fairy+Fighting or Normal+Poison... they are better than those types would be individually, so it's not really faire to call them bad.
Imagine quiverdance on a beast like that, or swords dance with ice shard, or a shell smash mixed set. if it has good stats it would be a good offensive mon.
Happy birthday Caleb! Thanks for consistently bringing us creative Pokemon video ideas like this. And you're so right about #1; there's a reason why Parasect, Abomasnow, and Leavanny are all so low-tier, so hopefully they know what to expect when combining certain types.

@@elderbuu5048 Still... Compare to another good bug in Galar that is Centiskorch... Frosmoth is quite disappointing. Not that I hate Frosmoth, though, I just wished that it got a better BST to work with its abilities
Plot Twist: They create a gorgeous ice moth that is a bulky fast support with access to spore and other good status moves while having a ability that makes every resistance it has a weakness and vice versa, being only weak to ice and having a ton of resistances
An offensive Fighting/Fairy Pokémon would be an absolute monster! The weaknesses may set it back a bit, but if it can take opponents out it would be a "glass cannon" of sorts. Still holding out for a Pokemon with this type combo in the future.
At the end when he said he had 20,000 subscribers I was so surprised. It’s the same thing that happens when I was watching hoopsandhiphop. I thought “he should have at least 500,000”. Both are pretty good. And pokedan too. All three very underrated.
When I was younger I made up a grass/dark pokémon. Now that I think about it, it’d pretty much be equally sucky as good, but given that fairy types didn’t exist yet when I made it, it would technically have more resistances than weaknesses.
Honestly, I could see something like that. Little cutsie-fairy thing with boxing gloves. Heart of gold with determination of steel. With Game Freak's ability to make oddly-huggable designs out of just about any concept, I'm sure a Fighting-Fairy would be a marketing slam-dunk; combined with its combat effectiveness in-game, I'm this hypothetical Fighting-Fairy could be the Eevee, Lucario, etc of its generation. @bryan diaz varela
Erm... Ground and Fighting are two of the best types offensively. Yes there's a lot of overlap, but still: Electric, Fire, Dark, Poison, Normal, Rock, Ice, and Steel. They're only resisted by Psychic, Flying, Grass, Bug, and Fairy. 8 Advantages 5 Equals 5 Disadvantages
Ground + Fighting as STAB moves has really good coverage, comparable to the classic bolt/beam (neutral coverage is 100 pokemon worse, but super effective coverage is very close)... and Rock type coverage (which ground and fighting tend to have) covers everything, giving it perfect neutral coverage and super effective coverage against 60% of all mons)
1. This happened. Thank Snom and Frosmoth. 2. A muskox or caribou would do well. 3. A horned toad or raptor would do well. 4. A porcupine would do well. 5. A brawling sorceror would do well. 6. This happened. Thank Orbeetle.
That is very true; an underrated aspect of Normal is the absolutely massive movepool with lots of coverage, so hopefully it would be able to bring something to the table...
I watched the Digimon vs. Pokemon death beattle where Charizard fights. Your „self-designed“ ground-fighting Pokemon looks strikingly similar to that one Digimon.
Happy Birthday Emperor im glad i found your channel in the first place. those stats are legendary sir!
So something decent would also help it maybe in Competetive Battling.
Also Happy Birthday :) i am astounded that your Channel grew so fast. I was subscribed as soon as 3000 subs. Your channel has grown a lot and your video quality got even better over time. Your success is making me feel like i should try something on UA-cam too xD
Ice/Bug may be a defensive disaster, but I will love my Snom and Frosmoth forever.
Emperor Cubone: Ice and Bug should never be done
Frostmoth:
As it should
I don't think you should define some of these combinations as bad.
Like Fairy+Fighting or Normal+Poison...
they are better than those types would be individually, so it's not really faire to call them bad.
Honestly, I want a terrifying Dark-Bug Pokémon.
I was shocked when I realized there wasn't one! It seems like you could easily do something really cool with that...
The typing Drapion should've had.
I bet it would look something like a xenomorph.
How about... a Mothman pokemon? Could also be Bug/Psychic...
Now *that* would be cool!

This video's date: 2018
Yes. It's called Retrospect.
Happy Birthday!!
An icy moth could be beautiful design wise. But it’s already seems way too fragile. It can work as an early bug tho, like Vikavolt...
Majela Lover or it could be amazing like volcarona
Imagine quiverdance on a beast like that, or swords dance with ice shard, or a shell smash mixed set. if it has good stats it would be a good offensive mon.
If done well and not just another cater/wiggler recolor ice bug could look super cool. Even if not particularly effective
Good news!
It exists now
Oh boy will you love what's coming .............
(Seriously though, I love it's design)
Happy birthday Caleb! Thanks for consistently bringing us creative Pokemon video ideas like this. And you're so right about #1; there's a reason why Parasect, Abomasnow, and Leavanny are all so low-tier, so hopefully they know what to expect when combining certain types.
Thank you so much!! :) I honestly do appreciate all of the wonderful Imperials out there, and more keep coming by every day...
@@emperorcubone Wait, your real name is Caleb? Also, happy birthday day my dude!
Dark Nix, It is! I'm guessing most people found out in my Let's Go Eevee play through...
@@emperorcubone I have watched a couple of those episodes, no offense but I'm not really one that watches gaming videos. But I am planning on catching up on them. Do you got any other ideas for Top 6 videos? Also, I'm in the discord! :D
Normal poison is an amazing defensive type, fighting fairy is an amazing offensive combo.
I would take out that *amazing*
Its just a good defensive combo.
Somethin amazing would be Steel/Poison with Levitate.
Slaking could be a Normal/Poison.
Fight/Fairy can absolutely wreck steel amd dragon with stab and would actually stand pretty well
Frosmoth is crying in a corner right now.
Yeah
Yeah rip bud
And the stats are somewhat disappointing...
At least make it the 2nd Volcarona in terrm of stats, too...
@@vietle8900 its hidden ability is really good though
@@elderbuu5048 Still... Compare to another good bug in Galar that is Centiskorch... Frosmoth is quite disappointing.
Not that I hate Frosmoth, though, I just wished that it got a better BST to work with its abilities
Top 1: (exist)
Frossmoth: Oh god
Snom: I don't care, I'm god
Quiver dance: This is no place to die
This mans really just grabbed a picture of a ben 10 alien 🤣🤣🤣 I love it
A speedy special attacking bug ice type with a flash fire ability could actually be suuuuuper interesting
Jessica Woolcott how would it have flash fire?
Jessica Woolcott what logical explanation could justify flash fire?
Cryoganal can have levitate. Frosslass is immune to fighting. So why not an ice type that's imune to fire. Ever heard of freezer burn?
I think it would've been fun to have try and examine how to optimize a bad type combo using move sets and abilities.
Maybe a follow-up video? ;0
as soon i saw the bug psychic i was like "CHECK THE DATE, CHECK THE DATE!"

Orbeettle: allow me to introduce myself
orbeetle didn’t exist when the vid was made
Plot Twist: They create a gorgeous ice moth that is a bulky fast support with access to spore and other good status moves while having a ability that makes every resistance it has a weakness and vice versa, being only weak to ice and having a ton of resistances
Now that would be a good pokemon
@@ratchetrobokat3488 IKR
Heh nice foreshadowing
An offensive Fighting/Fairy Pokémon would be an absolute monster! The weaknesses may set it back a bit, but if it can take opponents out it would be a "glass cannon" of sorts. Still holding out for a Pokemon with this type combo in the future.
Those feels when you find out that Ice/Bug was absolutely used in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Fun fact: Ice/Bug isn't unused anymore.
*Laughs in frosmoth*
I love how you keep doing these kinds of videos even though they are controversial and have a low like/dislike ratio. Keep up the good work!
Normal poison would be a fantastic defensive mon. So what if it’s offensiveness is lacking, most walls are weak attackers, but take an hour to KO.
Especially if it had the Unaware ability
I don’t understand why you don’t have at least 100K subs, the quality of your videos is amazing!
I don't really get it either, but maybe we'll get there... :)
''Ice/Bug should never be made a pairing''
Snom and Frostmoth B. laik: ''Allow us to introduce ourselves 😏🖖''
Is it Friday already? This video snuck up on me this week! Glad to see a new video, good day!
Fighting/Fairy would be a crazy good combo together. STAB Play Rough and Close Combat together could be a huge offensive threat
I like fairy fighting
@bryan diaz varela Fairy type is related with mythology too, an Centaur based pokémon would be cool
Heavy Duty Boots in Gen 8: Lets change things up a bit.
Ice/Bug is Snom... Our favorite litlle buddy... And Orbeetle is Pyschic/Bug and he is best Stored Power user in all of pokemon franchise.
Me, watching this for the first time just after S/S was released: It already aged bad.
Erm... Ground and Fighting are two of the best types offensively. Yes there's a lot of overlap, but still: Electric, Fire, Dark, Poison, Normal, Rock, Ice, and Steel. They're only resisted by Psychic, Flying, Grass, Bug, and Fairy.
8 Advantages
5 Equals
5 Disadvantages
Ground + Fighting as STAB moves has really good coverage, comparable to the classic bolt/beam (neutral coverage is 100 pokemon worse, but super effective coverage is very close)... and Rock type coverage (which ground and fighting tend to have) covers everything, giving it perfect neutral coverage and super effective coverage against 60% of all mons)
The overlap is an issue since you can use only 1 move per turn.
Great and entertaining video! Good Job with the editing and explaination
Have the best of birthdays. I wish there were more ice types. It's my personal favorite typing.
1. This happened. Thank Snom and Frosmoth.
2. A muskox or caribou would do well.
3. A horned toad or raptor would do well.
4. A porcupine would do well.
5. A brawling sorceror would do well.
6. This happened. Thank Orbeetle.
I always get excited everytime I get notifications from this channel! :D
They should make a hornet psychic/bug. Because it has a one track mind to bite then sting you!
Just a question... why always 6 and not 5 or 10?
Noodnood because you carry six Pokémon, I was wondering why it was six not five or ten but he explained it in one of his videos
Shyguy Neo Thanks!
Watch his Kanto problems video. He explains it there
This didnt age well with Snom existing XD
Do you think they'll ever fix the ice type by adding resistances to it?
every dual type that feel bad they just need to give them a good ability and high attack and speed stat.. it will compromise enough for me...
Happy birthday, belated or otherwise, and I am happy to be among that number of watchers!
first of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY emperor! I hope you get a shiny today
That is very true; an underrated aspect of Normal is the absolutely massive movepool with lots of coverage, so hopefully it would be able to bring something to the table...
Happy birthday Emperor Cubone
You are a very amazing Poketuber
I watched the Digimon vs. Pokemon death beattle where Charizard fights. Your „self-designed“ ground-fighting Pokemon looks strikingly similar to that one Digimon.
Happy Birthday Emperor Cubone! 🎂🎁 Loved the video. This channel is awesome!
People Don't Use Normal or Poison Types For Sweeping, they Use Them For Stalling Or as a Tank ie To Out Last your opponent
Congrats dude, realy enjoyed this vid
Happy Birthday Emperor im glad i found your channel in the first place. Its funny to see that ice-bug made it to number 1 because i played a fan game called Pokemon Uranium and has that typing, my first impression was similiar to yours but once i saw the stats and moveset having access to quiver dance and ice shards made it an amazing special sweeper that has good offensive type coverge. But i do agree that it feels too fragile but I think it has a niche as a late game sweeper that really needs to a reliable rapid spinner on the team in order to be viable in competitve battle
When you're early but you don't know what to type
POKEMON TYPES WEAKNESS EXPLAINED

-ICE: Blizzards or frosty weathers can make trees/plants suffer; the plants/trees cannot produce fruits, the flowers cannot bloom, and the plant will wither.
FLYING TYPE🦅
Is weak to:
-ROCK: Throwing a rock to flying creatures like birds or bats can make them fall to the ground, like in "Kill two birds with one stone" phrase.
-ELECTRIC: Electricity sourced from cables or lightning bolt can barbecue birds'/bats' wings, and they cannot fly well and fall to the ground and even be dead, and their feathers will also fall.
-ICE: Blizzards/frosts can affect birds'/bats' wings and this cause inability to fly well.
Is immune to:
-GROUND: Flying creatures cannot be fall to ground-related pitfalls that can harm people walking on the ground like pedestrians, such as post earthquake cracks, opened potholes, or gorges/chasms.

-GRASS: Trees' roots can break rock in root wedging while growing.
-GROUND: If a rock made statues (like Moai statues etc), boulder, or meteor fall to the lowest ground, which is from the higher location, then there will the cracks, also, earthquakes break rocky paths and swallow rocks.
-STEEL: The metal tools like drills and axes can also be used to break rocks due to the hardness.

Is weak to:
-FLYING: Birds are common predators for tiny insects that eat them alive.
-FIRE: Insects can be burnt alive, like flies, moths, or butterflies burned by a fire from candle or torch.
-ROCK: Rocks/stones can be used for squash insects' body, killing them alive.
PSYCHIC TYPE👁
Is weak to:
-BUG: Insects can distract and agitate the psychics who are concentrating in doing things while approaching them.
-GHOST: Ghosts can also distract and agitate the psychics due to causing concentration breakdown because of being terrifying and shocking.
-DARK: The Dark's evil tricks or practices can cause mind corruption/oppression to the psychics and their healthy mentals due to causing depression or other mental disorders.
GHOST TYPE👻

-DARK: Evil can consume and corrupt ghosts' spiritual nature. Also, evil spirits can turn the nice ghosts to be evil ghosts.
-GHOST: Ghosts can affect and hit each other and due to being not solid.
Is immune to:
-NORMAL: Same reason why Normal is immune to Ghost, where average persons or normal pets cannot feel ghosts' body while in direct touch, since ghosts are intangible substances.

Is immune to:
-DRAGON: In fairy tales, fairies' magics/spells can overcome dragons and their attacks.
Ok
Happy Birthday! You should be expecting a shiny Empoleon by now
Why was Ice nerved so badly? It used to be strong against Bug, Grass, Ground, Dragon and Poison?
I would love to see an Ice/Bug and just to ease your concerns about weaknesses you can cheat by giving it a fireproof ability, causing only normal damage through fire attacks...
You know, I was gonna try and correct you by saying that Bergmite and Avalugg were Ice/Bug type, but nope. I looked it up and they’re just Ice.
Anyways, Happy Birthday, Emperor!
we have bug-steel, bug-fire, surely bug-ice will come one day...
Don´t judge only by typing, the stats also matter a lot!
I dont think so look at aurorus it has decente stats but mediocre typing
Gianfranco Guevara because it is kind of slow if it was faster it would be a great glass cannon
So there is a reason why Butterfree can’t be Psychic.
Also because buttfree's lore says nothing about it having psychic powers....
Yeah, I was one of those people that wanted a Mega/Alolan Butterfree to be Psychic as well, but it maybe not. (Though Bug/Flying isn't necessarily the greatest type either)...
But the moveset contradicts lore in this scenario.
@@IanRomErv
It learns 10 psychic type moves.
-One of which is hidden Power, which is learned by most pokemon.
-There's also reflact,rest, skill swap which aren't psychic-exlusive either.
-Psychic itself which it learned by many non-psychic types as a TM move
This leaves us with only:
-teleport(which had weird spread in gen 1,ex:arcanine learned it from some reason)
-confusion(which is also learned by moth pokemon, possibly because because butterflies/moths are known for confusing lamps as the sun)
-dream eater, psybeam, psywave are the only moves that are 'truly' psychic.
Hidden Power is only psychic when the Pokémon IVs are at a certain level.
Happy Birthday! I been watching your videos since beginning of this year. Keep up the good work! I know you'll make it to 100,000 subscribers one day!
Thank you! It really means a lot to have people who consistently support. :) (Already a fifth of the way there!)
We are the presents? You soft sweetheart :D
Not only was this an interesting video, it was made even better because you used my favorite word, "superfluous". A+ all around!
You should do a video of the best untapped potential types, like type combinations that already exist but not as great as they could be.
For example: Bug/Ground. Wormadam being the best of that? It could be a lot better
Poly Polar the wormadams and mothim should get evolutions. With actually strong stats too. Maybe they could get pseudo stats.
Peanut Butter Pikachu it’s so sad cus Mothim is so slept on, a nice buff to it and Wormadam would be great
I can imagine a Bug/Ice as form of Wormadam or a form for Volcarona with Snow Warning and Quiver Dance.
One of the worst types is Normal/Dark and Steel/Dark, but if we got pokémon with those types, we can have that Normal/Ice. 🤷🏻
We also got an electric/psychic type in Alolan Raichu. Yet Alolan Raichu and Raichu are glass canons that have to rely on speed and evaison in order to survive. In a double battle Raichu could become a threat if instructed by Oranguru if instructed to use Double team. Add flash onto it or its partner and Raichu could dodge all threats. Yet in singles Raichu would get creamed unfortunately unless baton passed in.
What! I just finished the video, Happy Birthday

@@TheKabuto90 Skuntank..............isn't really a tank. It's frail, and is only good for it's offensive capabilities (at least in the tier it's in, anyways)
@@matthewkuscienko4616 I literally do not care about competitive. I only care if a mon is a viable team member for a playthrough.
@@TheKabuto90 ...........It would still be a stretch to call it tanky, though. It may only have one weakness, but it's defensive stats are just not very good
You know ever since I took this stupid "What Pokemon type are you" birthday thing I ended up with a ice and bug type Pokemon, I did wonder if there was any because I had none at the top of my head and since then I've always loved the idea of one, I was kind of hoping we would end up getting an Alola galvantula similar to what Sandlash was given.
