    im 56, I got 60% of hearing in my right ear from playing bass in a loud band for years. the meters are becoming more important for me to get a balanced mix.. Thanks again Kenny for the great content..theres always more to learn. look after your ears boys...

    Great update. I had set my master VU a few years back, and this week I was wondering why I'd set it the way I had. This update shook off the cobwebs and got me to rethink how i was metering. I'd just acquired the bx_meter, but what you've shown me here does everything I need without the complexity of that other plugin, although it does more stuff. So many great build-ins in Reaper.

    what are lufs levels.. i heard you say for streaming services... i use reaper while streaming every single day... i should probably learn what that is

    • @TheBigNoob
      @TheBigNoob 2 роки тому +3

      It stands for "Loudness Units Full Scale." It is a way of measuring how "loud" something is. LUFS is designed for human listeners, who hear different frequencies at different levels of loudness. It is a new measurement that was developed by audio engineers and audiologists a few decades ago. It is used for broadcasting standards, for example, in the USA, television programs cannot be louder than -23 LUFS on average. By contrast, RMS (Root Mean Squared) is an older way of measuring loudness, but it was based on voltages of the signal, and used more for scientific research. RMS is still used for audio books, but it is considered antiquated. Unless you are making audio books, chances are, you will never really need to use RMS. LUFS is your friend.

    When a meter peaks, a little red mark shows up until you click on it to clear it. Technically clicking that mark should be an action, but it doesn't show up in the recent actions list.
    ?? I'd like to know how to access clearing meter peaks in the action menu.

    Is there a way to make the mixer top readout peak visible on each track?

    • @EdenEditz
      @EdenEditz 2 роки тому

      Yeah, i think it‘s in layout, and then tracks, and then you can change the way your tracks (the tabs on the left) display things. There are some layouts that will show the top readout, some will not (from what i‘ve found).
      Then it depends on the track size/width as well. If the tracks are too thin/collapsed, it won‘t show the readout.
      Hope this helps, i‘m new to Reaper myself, and have spent the last few days customizing mine. But i‘m really no expert at all.
