Excellent video. You never disappoint, RM. When I see videos like this about Reaper, I am amazed at how good it is while at the same time being such a lightweight install and relatively easy on resources. It's a truly amazing DAW.
Yes, a video about multi-channel tracks! Great to see this topic discussed as Reaper is the best (reliable/flexible) DAW to use for surround sound and ambisonics.
Great explanation of how to get side chain into the ReaComp compressor. I was today years old when I learned yuo could drop the routing on a Plug In.... Great Job.
WOW! What a brilliant DAW! What a superb explanation. Possibly very useful for stalling Alzheimer's disease as my grey-matter jumps through hoops to take in the REAPER/Gioia magic!
This is pure gold, thanks a lot! I found that using the send method is especially useful when working with takes and/or parallel processing of the same source track. You can switch takes and perform edits as much as you want without having to worry about all parallel channels are fed with the same source file.
Great tutorial as usual. On a side note some mixing desks record straight to multi channel files because it speeds up recording on slow SSD's. Under the Item menu - Item processing you can "Explode" multi channel tracks into individual tracks if you find working with multitracks and channels too complex. There is also an implode option under the item menu to make selected tracks into a multitrack. Maybe a tutorial video?
@@G_handle Yes, my desk records multitrack wav's as multiple 1gb files. I can drag and drop all the wav's into reaper and it will stitch them together as a single file. I can then explode that to 32 mono files. Like I suggested a Kenny tutorial on the subject would be helpful to people as usual. There is also more under the items menu that is useful.
Once you got the routing part of it and also the different ways in which reaper automatically add more channels to your track, this is extremely powerful! Been using Reaper for years for this one feature (among many others). Thanks again kenny!
Great Video! Glad to see you are back to using one of the original intros. Much better. Any thoughts on doing a video using a program like Scaler? It is a great program, that can offer a lot if used correctly in Reaper. Thanx again for all you do!
This is a cool one, Kenny! I had no idea any of this existed and now I’m itching to work with it. Is there a way to export EZDrummer 3 beats in multichannel so I can use this video’s lessons? I am not a huge fan of the “32-track export” that EZD3 normally does.
Thank you for your videos ! Computer ressources management question : When duplicating the track as you did at 14:45 does it uses 2 memory spaces or just one ?
Follow-up question: Is it Actually duplicating the file or just two tracks accessing the Same file? And, if you process the 2 (or more) differently, do they only become separate files if you print them?
Hello Kenny, I've got a weird question not related. So I have a Bose QC2 earbuds which are great instead of the corded Beyer DT770 while traveling. The problem is that when I playback in REAPER, MODO bass midi tracks will not playback. If I substitute plugin, track plays back ok. However It plays back just fine in 2 other DAWs. Hopefully you can help.
This video was great! I'm doing 18-channel Atmos recording for experimenting with games and movies, but it's hard to manage all these channels. This really helped me figure out routing! I was wondering why I only heard 2 channels. Thanks for pointing out how to fix these things! I have a few questions, but I'm not sure if I should be asking you these. 1. Are there ways of showing the media waveforms that exist on a routed track? Like if I take channel 15 and put that on a separate track, it lets me quickly Solo that channel. Can I also see the waveform, so I know exactly the output of what's routed to that track? 2. It seems that Reaper only lets me render to 8 channels. Is that true? Can I not save an 18-channel WAV file? I imported an 18-channel WAV file in the first place, so I figured it'd let me output that too. 3. Would you advise I record 18-channels to multiple tracks at the same time or 18-channels on a single track? I'm not doing any editing, just recording, but I wanna be able to visualize what I'm seeing and show that off to people, so we can examine what's in these channels.
Every video of yours I watch is convincing me to take the leap to reaper lol. I'm starting to get pretty frustrated with pro tools and I can't believe how much more streamline reaper is.
Kenny. I have a question. I added the tuner to display in the track control and it has this space for none selected parameters on the left side and it’s taking up room I’d rather stretch out the tuner. How do I get rid of that unused space?
What happens to my main track if i record drums to 8 channels on one track. Then i send them to individuals tracks to mix but align the phase on the bottom snare mike, with the top snare mike, by slightly moving the event forward?
Hi Kenny. Some time ago I saw a video in which a gain control was docked to the left of the main screen and it was possible to control the gain of the selected track. To be honest I think I remember seeing it on your channel but I can't find it and I'm not sure. If so, could you tell me the name of the video please?
It also in Create a Track in Reaper from Loops It's in Video One. redo-ing that as I Mixdown from Ableton into Reaper for mix mastering in my old "Arrangements".
How about a Video tutorial on how to disable the DELETE button so if you don't accidentally hit it and lose all the work you just did because you are to focused to get things done and then then REAPER closes and you will never get back that hour you just spent... UUUGH
@@108Rudi this happens when I'm adding Lyrics in a MIDI track, yeah Auto Save helps IF you remember to set it or set it as a default, but there is something happening if you have a Block of Lyrics or a section of Midi that you want to delete then go to delete it the whole Reaper crashes and all the projects you have been working on close and then you have to reload them all, Sometimes I have like 5 sets of 12-15 songs as different projects. that I run for Rehearsals. and it's a pain if for some reason what you were working on didn't save. I believe it's a small glitch (Bug) but for the most part I can usually get it back, normally if you go to Close a project it will ask if you want to save it. SURPRISE when Reaper just disappears ! Not sure how to recreate the bug if possible but I really don't want to take that time, I'm almost positive though it has to do with hitting the delete button while trying to delete a MIDI section , of course it is using the Video Effects to display and not normal MIDI Data.
Thanks, Kenny.
I was one of those people who was confused about the distinction between channels and tracks, but now you have enlightened me.
Multi channeling is a very powerful feature of Reaper.
Routing may be a bit tricky at first, but it makes drums recording or editing so easy !

And does exploding actually turn a 32-channel poly-wav file into 32 mono wavs? Or v/v turn 32 into one with implode?

How can I make megababy work like Fl studio sequencer for drums?

@@db4ks if it is about UI layouts, soon there will be something

we need someone to make a script that make the piano roll and sequencer like fl
