My respect for Aethelwulf is tremendous. He was taken advantage of in every way possible but still put his emotions aside and his duties first before everything else, no matter how everyone treated him, no matter if they respected him or not. He just did what had to be done. What a hero!

I recommend watching The Last Kingdom sometime soon. The last season is going to premiere at the end of the year and it's a perfect time to get into the show 👍

"The Blood Eagle" is a Viking execution method. So what they did is...You are put down, an axe is driven into your back. Break the ribs from the back, then reach inside and pull your lungs out THROUGH your back. So your lungs are hanging behind you like wings. And you're alive during the whole time. So damn sick but awful at the same time.
