RIP to arguably the best character in TV history.
Chill

@@thrashattack2185 It’s a fact.
@@historicalalchemist9671 he’s good but doesn’t even compare
Ragnar: "Be ruthless"
Ivar: "And I took that personally"
that scene with Ragnar and the seer is the best in the whole series
She watches the extended version, where Ragnar also talks about Lagertha, thats great.
Arguably
Nah
"How the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar suffered." In other words, "My sons will hear of what you did and come for revenge."
Thanks for explaining for all the dudes who got dropped on their heads when they were born
@@dahlizz99 Glad I could help you out.

By the way, there is a fan made video that every reactor watches after this episode if you have the time for it. It's Ragnar Lothbrok - The Choice by Zurik 23m.
^^^^^^^
Yep, great follow up
Yes!
Where I can find it?
@@thakrratul1109 UA-cam. Search exactly what the original comment said: Ragnar Lothbrok - The choice. The top result should be a video by Zurik. 👍🏼
”How the little piggies would grunt, if they knew how the old boar died” is a true line and poem of Ragnars death in history and the viking sagas.
The poem/song is know as ”the snake pit”
The people lost faith in Ragnar. Even his own sons lost faith in him (apart from Ivar). Nobody would follow him for his revenge on England in life. So he has to become a martyr and give them a reason to seek revenge. In their eyes now, England has captured and killed their hero and king. So now they will come for them.
The fact that you even have to leave this comment is proof positive that Ellie never even bothers to read the comments. It's been pointed out to her at least twice before, and still she remains clueless.
Ragnar couldn't do anything anymore, there was no way for him to avenge his people on his own. You've seen the way everybody was treating him back in Kattegat, he had no choice but let his sons do it for him, because he could not raise an army anymore. This was one of the saddest parts for me, seeing him becoming nothing more than a humiliated man..
Such a great Character Ragnar props to Travis Fimmel who plays Ragnar
Ragnar couldn't get them all to go with him to avenge the people so ragnar going and letting them kill him would make his sons avenge him and ultimately their people as well
^^^^^^^^
There was nothing better they could do for Ragnar, this is how he died in real life, saying those same words and all.
im glad your time machine works 😂
He's a myth and legend more than a historical character. But yes, in the stories this is how he dies.
Lol imagine being a grown adult and thinking stories are historical records.
@@zimvader25 Well, there are about 2,3 billion christians in the world...
@@zimvader25 Anglo-Saxon chronicles, Saxo and Frankish historical sources mention an eminent Viking raider named 'Ragnar' or 'Ragnall' who lived in the 840s. Norman accounts mention a 'King Lodbrok'. Ivar aka Ingvar aka Ivar The Boneless is also mentioned in several historical accounts as a 'son of Lodbrok'. So, the man likely existed. And he fathered Ivar. But many of the tales surrounding his life and exploits, including his death in a snake pit, are probably just good story telling and nothing else. No evidence suggests these events ever took place.
I cried half an hour when I first saw this. And then saw ppl reacting to it and still cried. It's been years and seeing her cry makes me cry again. Travis fimmel made u love Ragnar And feeling like he is truly ur king. Damn i don't think i will ever witness smthing like that again. What a performance. Truly legendary.
King ayla’s face when Ragnar didn’t even flinch or whimper after he hot pokered him, now that was some brilliant acting right there I would be shocked in his shoes!
Now the sons of ragnar will give vengeance with the ”great heathen army” desribed as the greatest army of that time period.
With all of scandinavia united to avenge and destroy all of britain for killing their great father and hero of scandinavia.
Goosebumps when Ragnar talking to the blind man
That talk between Ivar and Ragnar is so good and brings Ivar alive #BeRuthless
And in the end seer was right, because Ragnar died before the blind man seen him, and the blind man was Ecbert, because he stood there, and he didn't know that Ivar is going to take revenge on them..
Ragnar thought he can run away from the prohecy, but hi's choise was part of the prophecy, i love this show.
Did you even watch the whole episode?? There was literally a blind carriage driver who said "I see you Ragnar Lothbrook" 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@cedrics1220 you do realise this show is about mythology and symbolism, and ecbert being there in the end simbolized he was the blind man that ragnar saw before hi's death? you're the one that's blind if you missed that detail..
The character that was holding the show on his back is now gonneee rip ragnar
According to legend Ragnar actually died like this irl. Btw the one eyed man is Oden, who sacrificed one eye to gain wisdom
Seeing you cry breaks my heart because you always put a smile on your face. ❤️
Now the wrath of Ivar the boneless and sons of Ragnar will come.
Great reaction my friend!
Edit: btw, this is how history and the tales remember Ragnars death. Killed by serpents.
Ragnar chose his fate.
17:53 I like how Ellie thinks that Vikings just kill their enemies and dont let their victims suffer. we shall see :)
Mad respect for you, Ellie. You went from hating him, to understanding him and then to eventually loving him.
Always interesting to see who's been paying attention to certain parts of this show enough to recognise the man with one eye we saw at the end and who doesn't....
Fun fact: Ragnar actually died in the pit of snakes, after Aelle thrown him inside, but the outcome was a bit different. Ragnar said, in fact, those words "How the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar suffered" while he was in the pit, and how Aelle reacted is the true difference. Historically, Aelle was not a fool and understood immediatly what those words implied. So he was legitimately scared shitless knowing the norsemen would've gathered an army to come to Northumbria to kill him, like they did in the end, and gave order to pull Ragnar out of the pit, but it was too late and Ragnar already died
"how the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the old boar suffered" strong line, this episode will always make me cry, Ragnar,Floki, Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Avatar Aang,Zuko, Joel Miller and Ellie from TLOU those are Legends in all of media
Ragnar dies as he lived. A true Legend!
Hi Ellie! This is the second best episode of Vikings. 4x14 and 4x15 are two of the best episodes in television history.
Got what he deserved. Somehow people tend to forget that it was his expeditions that brought ruin and death over England. I loved the character and was surely very sad when they killed him but at the same time I remembered who and what he was.
To be Fair I totally understand King Aella, this viking comes to his lands unprovoked, loots and destroys a church, takes a bunch of his people as slaves, pillages his country, Kills his brother, ruins his army and has to be paid to leave him in peace. I'd be in a similar mood to him, I imagine it'd be like eastern Europeans being handed over the captured local gestapo officer by the red army for retribution in 1945.
then just kill him and get it over with. And how did he help his countrymen by shoving one of his own captains into a snake pit for failing to capture that viking
Ivar’s reign starts now
I mean now that you’ve seen this episode you probably already figured it out. Bur Ragnar never really went to England to avenge the settlement. He went there to die. He had his heart set to die in any other way other than how the Seer said he would. He wanted to prove the Seer wrong
Everyone forget how Eckbert hes the most important character of the series too, he admire Ragnar at the start and the end
Ragnar beat the gods by not dying the day the blind man saw him. He died a day later.
Reticulated pythons, boas, and corn snakes are NOT venomous.🤣 Fire the prop guy for phoning it in.
despite what the plebs believe, ragnar was all about conquest....so he told his favorite son to take advantage of his disadvantage. they will always underestimate you. make them pay. :)
This could be a little comfort, when you watch the boys grow you will notice that each one of his sons have a specific character trait that Ragnar had. So he does live on. Much like the priest did for him.
Was that not the most beautiful death scene, ever created?
Also the lagaretha scene was well done
We are finally here...😔the show "Vikings"will never be the same 😔...
Ragnar's plan was to die because he wanted to choose his own fate, the spoke of Odin and the norse gods because he wanted to strike fear in the Saxons army but he didn't believe them, not for a long time. This is why he willingly got baptised because he used it all as a means to win for his people and gain an advantage but those closest to him betrayed him or were killed so he wanted to die alone which is very fitting.
I’ve watched this series so many times I can’t count. Best character ever developed in television
I just Love him with all my heart . The greatest Character and actor ever seen !
HERE IT IS BOYS!!
The seer: “I may have been wrong.” Ragnar: what did you say?
My first reaction when Ragnar was dropped to the vipers was respect and anger. And the “How the little piggies will grunt when they hear how the Old Boar suffers.” and Ragnar’s last words haunts me till this day.
It's one of a handful of times that the show stays historically accurate, too. Even the little piggies line is supposedly what Ragnar said. Aelle did apparently kill Ragnar in real life which brought forth the great heathen army. Of course you have to take Viking history with a grain of salt, but I'd like to think it actually went down that way because Ragnar's sons did invade and try to conquer England after that in real life.
Ivar reign begins 🔥🔥
Ivar was willing to die alongside his dad. Thats love and devotion.
HAIL KING RAGNAR!!!!Died a fuckN real one didn’t go out screaming or begging for mercy he didn’t give them that satisfaction they tried their hardest to get him to break and he didn’t he stood on all 10 a real king!!
20:00 Scholars debated whether King Aiella's Pit actually existed until they found it a few years ago, with evidence that it had contained a lot of snakes, probably imported at great expense.
Hi Homies channel :)
Im from Denmark, where the "Kattegat" in Vikings originally were placed, and i've studied the Sagas about Ragnar, Ivar, etc.
And even though its tough watching Ragnar die like this, the director Michael Hirst wanted the series to be as close to the sagas as possible, and in the sagas Ragnar dies by falling into a pit of snakes. So he had to die - in order to make room for his soons, especially Bjorn and Ivar.
Once ragnar is dead, Ivar the boneless can evolve and do as his father said: "Be ruthless" - so Ivar will grow from here on and become more famous than Ragnar :)
Also Homies Channel, remember he said: How the little piggy will roar, when they hear how the old boar suffered" - so the ONLY true way Ragnar could finish England once and for all was by dying, so his sons could do what he couldnt: Finish Echbar and king Alle.
And finally: From now on, pay close attention to Ivar from NOW -.and Ivar when the show is over :) You will first hate him, then in the end love him ;) SO ENJOY :)
I think as soon as Ragnar saw Ecbert he finally believed the Seer. He may have realized “the blind man” was meant to be a metaphor. Ecbert was blind to Ragnars plans to ensure his sons would seek for revenge. So in turn, the Seer could have potentially been right still.
its a bold move cause Ragnar wanted to die as much as he wanted revenge on England for betraying him with the settlement he managed to create in England. Futhermore he tried but couldn't get this revenge by himself with low popularity. In the end he got both the death and the revenge because he who increases knowledge, increases sorrow. And this is particulary true in medieval times like this around 800.
I think everyone knew you would cry watching this Ellie.
What ever you do DON'T play Assassins Creed Valhalla,as you can find that snake pit
And this is when the show ended for me lol. My favorite character of all time KING RAGNAR
I would advise you to also watch 2 great shows: “The Last Kingdom” and “Spartacus”. I am sure you are gonna love Uhtred and Gannicus as well as Ragnar!
“If Ragnar doesn’t die, and escapes, he can prove the Seer wrong! 😃 “
Oh you sweet summer child
Ragnar WON by double "K.O." ! ;) He couldnt rally hes people up to avenge the settlers BUT ... by making Eckbert hand him over to Aelle ... Hes death will rally hes sons & people to avenge bouth him and the settlers.... AND he kinda proves the Seer is wrong about him dying the day that the blind man sees him ... he lives a day or two after the blind man sees him ! :P (That is/was hes plan)
The one eyed man is Odin ... who brings the "news" that Ragnar IS dead !
Travis Fimmel should have won at least one Emmy for the role of Ragnar.
sometimes she makes me think she doesn't watch the show to understand anything like wtf... Ragnar can't avenge because he doesn't have the men power/followers he literally had to bribe some men with silver and gold to come with him you saw it but anyway that wasn't the most important part of this episode, at least I knew you would cry so that makes up for your lack of understanding lol
Ikr
22:25 I really like the way they portrayed ODIN, and the scene where He tells the different brothers that Ragnar is dead #HailODIN
Oh Ellie, you will find out in the next episode if Ragnar made it into Valhalla.
I feel sorry for the bloody snakes. Poor things. Ragnar knew what he was doing, and he did it well.
This woman is very beautiful & somehow has a set of super choppers at the same time. Honestly, mad respect for how she wears herself.
I've noticed that Ragnar in the first episodes of First season had the same strange and birght, almost innatural, blue eyes of Ivar in this last scene
The episode when real men cried. Til Valhalla, kong Ragnar.
The one eyed guy at the very end is a manifestation of Odin.
Never fails to make me cry
RIP Ragnar 💔
The One eyed was Odin Allfather at the end look the revenge videos
Ellie would make an amazing actress.
The Man with One eye is Odin. Remember Odin gave his right eye for Knowledge and Insight.
The one eye'd guy at the end is Odin himself the great all father.
So it turned into a fantasy?
@@historicalalchemist9671 not a fantasy just shows how important ragnar was keep watching the videos
@@historicalalchemist9671 lol did you even watch the show? the very first episode shows odin walking a battle field and valkyries taking the dead with them and you ask that question lol.
@@crazymauler I watched every episode. I do suggest you Google every viking in this. The real rollo was called the walker because he was so big they couldn't give a horse to fit him
The grey haired guy at the end is Odin
This is it. We're finally at THE episode.
Ragnar,s death broke me I was a nervous wreck for a week
22:24 ODIN!!!🔥🔥🔥
Ragnar was... complicated. the most accomplished man in their time, a true legend made manifest. but as a result, he lost his faith. as a young man, he was convinced of his lineage to Odin. in his old age he denounced the gods and guided his own faith. he was broken after Paris. and it took him 10 years to become even a shade of the man he used to be. he knew he was to old to fulfill his dreams and wishes. so he orchestrated it so that his sons, ffor the sake of honor, HAD to finish his work. brilliant, but also sad. to see a man of such faith reduced to a mere schemer
He was never supposed to live past season 1 but the character was so popular they decided to keep going on until they had no choice but to kill him off.
Oh, Ellie, you have such a pure, sensitive soul.
a hero a legend such was the image of Ragnar Lothbrok I loved him forever
Such an incredible performance from travis Fimmel you really witness the mental suffering and worsening of Ragnar you watch and really see Ragnar’s mental state get worse and worse
#TheHomies That one eye guy is the God Óðinn (Odin)!! The Allfather god of poetry, magic, frenzy, War, wisdom, Death, divination, knowledge, sky, healing, victory and runes!
Next seasons are pretty cool, especially the very end, like last series of season 6
if you like soaps..
Now you just wait for what happens it’s epic
ragnar became nothing and no body believed in him anymore. he seeked redemption by avenging his people that were slaughtered. no one would help ragnar so he knew the only way he could avenge them was by getting killed. because then his sons would avenge him/the people that were slaughtered.
And so we come to it...the end of Ragnar... The end of an era...
Btw I would love to see your reactions to The Last Kingdom sometime soon. Uhtred Ragnarsson is waiting for his day to shine 🤞
This girl is insane, can someone sit and watch vikings with a person squeaking and crying like that?!
What an irony Ragnar also in reality died like that!!!
Irony is not the right word
Coincidence maybe
@@alitaha9074 Intentional and fitting are the words I would use
Well...it is not a character, but a real person who lived and died. This is how this person, Ragnar Lothbrok, died. In a snake pit by his enemies.
It would be great if Ragnar escaped, but this series is based a bit on Scandinavian legends and there our brave Viking is killed by King Ella by throwing a pit full of poisonous snakes. Now it's time for the famous sons of Ragnar to show their story.
clairvoyant: You will die the day a blind man sees you
Wagon Old Man: I can see you Ragnar Lothbrok
But it wasn't that day.
can't wait for the next episodes
There’s very deep meaning to this. Ragnar is a Christian. He believes deeply in 1 god.
Here he is lying and praising false gods, but he’s doing it for many reasons. (that I love to talk about!) Ambition being my most favorite.
That look he gives King Ella right before he drops in the Snake Pit... EPIC!
Eh.... He is an atheist.... the point flew over your head.
@@Loscyc360 hey fair enough. Do atheists pray by themselves like he did? Didn’t he say he wanted to go to heaven? Maybe you don’t remember those parts, I forgive you.
You should try listening to Norwegian band called Helvegen Wardruna & Arora your going to love then!
23:44 ((Ellie)) you're in grief over Ragnar. Remember you didn't like him very much in the beginning? ;)
Good morning, I keep adding to your videos because they are the best, and I know that one day you will achieve 100k subs, keep it up and all your dreams will come true. Kisses to all and all.
ragnar's sons will carry the show now
Rip Ragnar of Vikings.... they were shorts on snake.
Could have put a few more snakes inside the pit though.....
Ragnar lothbrok The choice zurik 23 reaction
Please watch at least to the end of this season. After that, only watch if you find that you're interested in the story of the sons of Ragnar. If not, then the end of season 4 is the place to stop, but please continue watching until the end of season 4.
if you think this show isnt logical and annoying sometimes wait until you see the next tow seasons
this is how ragnar is said to have been killed in real life
