I absolutely LOVE this movie! The pacing, the action, the drama and the paranoia were top tier. Also, if you want a bit of a deeper dive into this movie, I highly recommend watching Dead Meat's Kill Count for this movie. They go deep on behind the scenes, how certain shots were done and how the story comes into being.

I do like that is has a bit of a through-line where people aren’t how society views them. The successful businessman is a selfish coward, the muscle bound brute is a lovable teddy bear, the homeless man that everyone looks down on being the most selfless and heroic, etc.

Because the husband made him promise to look after her and she had spent the whole movie taking care of his daughter. And he knew he owed her and she would take his daughter to Busan. So good. It annoys me that there has to be an American remake. This film has universal themes, it is unnecessary.

I'm Korean and don't speak English, so I used a translator. I was able to understand your conversation to some extent using the automatic translation function.
It's interesting and fun for foreigners to enjoy watching Korean movies.
12:44 It's interesting that you see a pregnant woman and think it's scary foreshadowing. Other foreign UA-camrs made similar predictions. Most Koreans are not familiar with zombie movies. So, I expect that few people will think of fearful foreshadowing when they see a pregnant woman. For reference, this movie is the most successful Korean movie featuring zombies.
In the final scene of the movie, a child sings a song to overcome his fear in a dark place, a cliché often seen in Korean movies.
22:58 And the actor who wears a blue t-shirt and punches zombies is a famous actor and film producer in Korea. I am Korean-American. His American name is 'Don Lee' and his Korean name is Ma Dong-seok. He is also my favorite actor. He played the role of Gilgamesh in the movie ‘Eternals.’
I recommend the Korean movie he made. The title is [THE OUTLAWS].
I used a translator. Please understand even if the sentences are strange.

Your translated English is better than a lot of native English speakers who leave comments on youtube. 😅 Thanks for your insights! I always wonder what cultural context I'm missing when I watch international films. When I first saw Train to Busan, I knew that Ma Dong-seok must be a big star. He has an easy charisma that seemed familiar, even though I hadn't seen him in anything else. It's too bad that Eternals wasn't a good movie. I do hope he makes more appearances in English-language films.

The thing is this movie is not really about zombies, these monsters are just the medium to tell a story about the human condition. About how some of us shrink in the face of fear and some others rise to the occasion with bravery and sacrifice, because that’s what it is, a movie about sacrifice. I always cry during this film, even during reactions.

Ma Dong Seok (known in the west as Don Lee), who plays the husband of the pregnant woman, is in a lot of good Korean moves. Two of my favorites are "The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil," in which a crime lord and a maverick cop form an uneasy alliance to catch a serial killer, and "Outlaws" inspired by a major real life police operation to bust organized crime.

If you liked "Train To Busan", then "All Of Us Are Dead" (also Korean, 12 episodes) is THE show for you. Has the same qualities und could almost play in the same universe. I know you watched Arcane a while ago, so tv shows aren't completely out of left field? I would in general suggest to broaden your horizon (and community) a bit and add a few more productions from Asian countries into the mix (especially for your Patreon). They usually provide different perspectives and takes compared to western productions (including the way they tell their stories). My main suggestion as entry point would be "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" (16 episodes), but "All Of Us Are Dead" is great as well. Another positive point for K-Dramas is, that they're usually produced as one story with one creative vision as one complete season and are done after that.

This movie shows so many social dinamics (especially from S/N Korea.) Little things from the 'Absentee Dad' asking an underling about gifts to the 'New Dad' who has his screen saver as his preborn baby(seen when his phone was used as a distraction.) To the 'Pregnant Mom' and the crying 'Child' seen by the 'COO' while he intentionally keeps them all trapped between cars. The 'Granny Sisters' relationship/personalities especially when seeing the other still alive. We see the 'Train Conductor' acquiescence to proceeding the 'COO' out of the lavatory although he seems to know he's likely being used as a sacrifice. And the unaware 'Engineer' still serving the passengers by attempting to help the 'COO' while the 'Outcast Man' heroically holds back the mob of infected The character arch for the 'Absentee Dad.' Fantastic movie with a great reaction!

Glad to hear you ran with it after discovering international films! It seems to me that, with the inaudible dialogue issues modern American films have from sound mixing and actors mumbling dialogue, more and more people watch movies with captions on, regardless of what language they're in. So it makes foreign films more accessible when you're already used to it.

7:39 "You always start off with denial." THANK YOU! Most people think they would respond appropriately and immediately, but in actuality, most people who aren't used to constantly being on guard against danger react like the reporter who was doing a live report, and when gunshots started ringing out, the reporter stood there for several seconds confused and looking around and asking "Are those fireworks?" Humans have a "normality bias" that requires a mind shift before they can mentally accept that something out of the ordinary is happening plus they're afraid to admit that something terrifying that "only happens to OTHER PEOPLE" is happening to them, so as you said, denial.

There is so much going on and even my dad, who hates anything zombie, loved this one. Hands down, my favorite zombie movie. I've seen tons of them, from Night of the living dead back in 1968 till now, but none of them had the emotional impact that this one did. Always surprising, crazy good visuals, makeup effects and performances are on point, but in this one, the story is king. And it's just devastating. The little character moments that make you care for most everybody, (except that one business guy, good riddance), just keep adding up until they are just snatched away, and man, those losses pile up... Just an incredible movie. So glad you guys enjoyed it as much as the hundreds that have recommended it!

i understand the asshole business suit group's side because of the zombie trope of someone who may be hiding a bite and will turn later, but at least let them in then isolate them or check for bites then include them again later when they don't turn. they fought through several cars filled with zombies and they survived? that shows they're strong and smart and lucky and i'd want to keep those sorts of people in my group.

Seok-woo (Suan's dad) turns into a zombie, and his last memory is when he first met his beloved daughter.
Bed Guy, who acted like a diabolical villain throughout the movie
His last memory as a human being was of his mother.
Sometimes, the final scene of "Suk-woo (Suan's dad)" is called "forced tear-inducing."
"There are people attacking the film.
Like I said, two guys turned into zombies!
When I think about where the last memory of a human being stayed,
You will think twice about this film.
    When you're a kid, when you're a kid,

I remember my first meeting with my beloved daughter.
