    Oh gosh, I feel you...
    Actually, and this is really sad, I am part of Slovenian minority in Italy but my mother never spoke to me in Slovenian (complicated personal story of a border bullied person 😢).
    Even if I moved to Austria - and learned English, German, French and B1 Ukrainian - I landed on having a Slovenian partner.
    Now, even if I am fluent in many languages, it seems to me that Slovenian is on another level... Way harder!
    I would like at least to understand it in order to go out with my partner's friends and MY friends (who are all part of Slovenian minority) and do not impose to them to switch in Italian.
    But it is hard, first of all to find the time - because I am trying to go further with my German to reach C2 - and secondly to remember what I learned after some days of no practice. Not to mention that there are no resources and textbooks, in particular after B1 and through the primorski Slovene there are tons of dialects, one every other corner, which complicates even more the task...
    😥😥😥

      Awwh Thank you so much for sharing! I also understand where you 're coming from. It's hard at times to feel part of a conversation when it switches to Slovene. I've honestly learnt to just start my own conversation lol But yeah I mostly feel it at gatherings, and not knowing what's happening. But it's reassuring in a way I'm not the only one :)

    So U r learning Štajesk:) ... and where you found 5 veriations for verbs? It always seems verbs have 9-10 variations in Slovene (by my feeling) go is iti and šel, šla, šlo, šla, šli, šli, šli, šle, šli... neutral and each variation for he, she, it in singular, dual and plural ... and BTW to go is the worst example you can give for verb:)
    (edited) and vowels... water has 18 variations too:)

    You said mačk hrana.... instead mačja hrana :)) hihi, that's why she was confused. And he understood immediately cause he is used to your way of speaking. Don't worry, just keep trying, maybe ask... Oprostite, kako to, da me niste razumeli, kako bi morala reči.. and than.. kako sem pa rekla? So.. sorry, how come you didn't understand me, how i was supposed to say.. and then.. how how did I say instead? Maybe some people wouldn't want to tell you, but many people will be happy to tell you, i am sure :)) keep it up!

    • @Jo_thi
      @Jo_thi  3 роки тому +1

      Such a small difference xp I really have to talk slowly in Slovene and work on my pronunciation 😅 I would need some time to remember the sentence you just gave and then I would have no clue what she will say when she will reply 😂😂 That is my main issue speaking is that people reply so fast and then I switch to English xp. But thank you for your comment and advice 👍🏽😁

    • @saralampret9694
      @saralampret9694 3 роки тому +1

      @@Jo_thi yeah, the thing is that "maček" hrana is literally cat food, but we always turn it into an adjective like catlike food, and if somebody does say two nouns one after another (because of translating directly), it makes a confusion. It doesn't exist in slovene the English way two nouns together, or maybe there are exceptions, especially loan words 🤔
      Yeaaah, you can learn the sentence, write It down and use this trick and then make a video on UA-cam "how To learn Slovene in three months" 😛😃😃 hehe, you can do it ☀️however not really in three months 😂
