    I live in Slovenia and my friend from school is Asian and we are really good friends. I love to hear her talk about her culture and language and family. I think Slovens in general aren't racist but there are some people who probably are like in every country. I loved the video

    My father grew up in Celje before he emigrated to Australia in 1954! I have traveled to Slovenia twice, the first trip I went to my fathers home town. Had a few beers up in that amazing castle overlooking the town the river and the train tracks. Last trip I stayed with relatives in Smartno just below Smarna Gora, I had so much fun. I flew in the wind tunnel in Logatec, amazing experience! Jumped from a plane over the salt farm at Portoroz, drank a huge beer at the Union factory bar. This shit disease has ruined my travel plans for 2020, I was coming back for another stint, instead I am locked up at home in Australia. Hope you are well, keep up the good videos and post some pictures! Even film your self walking around. I miss it so much! Cheers Anthony.

    The reason why theres much less rascism here than in other western nations is that we were also either conquered,killed,enslaved by other bigger white countries.So if anybody can understand rascism are we.cca 1000 years under German rule,or Italian in some parts and Hungarian.

    • @deepwaters7242
      @deepwaters7242 4 роки тому +1

      .... There is a lot of unconscious racism without negative intent. A lot of racist complacency, also. I think most Slovene people aren't, but the ones that are, are not corrected. This actually concerns me because it allows the foundation of racism to be built. Slovenia is pretty homogeneous, and the Albanians I work with experience racism on a daily basis. Also Hitler came here, loved Maribor, and there are old timers who have pride in that. (I love history and immersed myself in local history when I moved here.)

    • @rzslo9084
      @rzslo9084 4 роки тому +9

      @@deepwaters7242 Racism starts when immigrants try to change the natives history and tell them what is wrong and what isn't or when they don't show any respect for the country they live in... that's how it builds. Racism doesn't just exist because of some misconceptions, it develops through experience with dealing with certain people. Now don't make the classic mistake of generalizing, but after a few bad experiences with said people it is only smart to take precautions, that is evolution without it we would still live in caves.

    Maybe no racism because India is truly like nowhere else in the world. Incredibly ancient history, beautiful cultural style, strong family and community ties, a focus on education as important, ect.... Just a lot of cultural things that are respected and understood across many different people and places.
    Plus as one commenter said (I'm greek and do agree with the point) "white people" from smaller countries, with a history of being taken advantage of and trampled by bigger nations, probably understand bigotry better than the average white brit or american.
    That sentence was long and a bit confusing, so I hope my thoughts make sense!

    • @Jo_thi
      @Jo_thi  4 роки тому +2

      I totally agree that India is an incredibly beautiful country. However there also is discrimination on the basic of caste, gender, skin tone ect So I don't believe it's about the country of where my ancestors are from but more about the individual encounters. Just because I feel some individuals have not been given the tools from childhood to integrate with people who are different from them.. That's just my option, however I appreciate your comment ")

      You can get some sort of rasizm as Indian in Slovenia as well because Indian look very simmilar to the gypsies which isn't wired because gypsies origin are from Pakistan/India too. It's no secret that gypsies ain't really popular between Slovenian and not just Slovenian. It's quite possible that Indian are misidentified as a gypsie.

I actually got fired from a waitress job in the country because so many customers told the owner that they didn't want a non-Slovene Natakarica. I also have run across many lightly racist comments, very similar to the blind systemic racism in America - people making a statement that they think is fine, but it is quite racist. Thanks for sharing that. I have accepted that I am a minority in this country, my main point was overcoming something I was not used to, and that was isolation. I knew when I moved here how the country and it's people are. Adapting is a normal part of life, and there's nothing wrong with sharing something I overcame. Life isn't as black and white to say "get out", that isn't a solution for everyone or everything.

I was not hating on the people here, I was sharing how I felt about moving to another country, and the fact of the matter which yes, there is mostly white people here, and yes I did feel isolated. That doesn't mean I don't like living here, it just meant I wasn't used to feeling isolated. Every country has it's pros and cons, and as I decided to live here , I knew I would have to overcome these things, which isn't a bad thing.
