This isn't about how to train your Rottweiler its how all dogs should be trained. Our beautiful 5 month old Rottweiler is by far the best in her puppy classes because we spend the time training her . Remember the dog doesn't have a bad bone or attitude in its body, you as its owner or trainer have given them the wrong training or are too lazy yo train them correctly. A bad dog doesn't Exist its a bad human or lazy human . Great video I'm now a new subscriber 👍🏻

That’s just not true, whatsoever. But yes, most problems start and end with a bad owner.

You can't emphasize the crate training enough. All of my dogs are crate trained and right now we have a 14 week old Rottie and she was super easy to get up to speed. The simplest way to get them loving their crate is make it their meal place. My dogs know to go to the crate when it's food time and the puppy has even adapted herself to putting herself to bed. Around 9:30 every night she heads back and scratches on the door to the crate room. We take her outside to do her business and then her blanket and teddy bear go in her crate and she sleeps until around 6:00am most days. When you puppy will give you a good 7-8 of sleep that's Godsend.

Did you hand feed her at all to prevent resource guarding or did you transition to making it their meal place?

I love it all. We waited 2 years to find the right rescue, whilst reading and learning. My first dog, a pressa Canario, border collie, koolie, staffy mix (don’t ask) now has 45 commands and 15 sign language commands down at 12 months old. I am picking up a rotti/Doberman mix tomorrow. Your videos have been a great help and influence and there, to me, is no greater endeavour than a large, well trained dog. Thank you.

I've raised Rottweilers for over thirty years and never once crate trained any of them and they all turned out wonderful and happy dogs. The idea that they can't understand what you want the to do in your home is ludicrous. They are very smart and adjust quickly to any situation.

I agree 100% with you.. I have never locked any of my Rotties up in a cage... They chew alittle as a pup but it is up to us to teach them not to... Such a smart breed, they understand sooooo much. Lets not forget to point out what a waste of protection if your Rottie is caged up and someone breaks in...Never will I lock an animal up... We as humans take these animal and expect them to bend to all our conditions, well Caging them is one I will not do... In a sense they are already caged by being kept in their own yard and house and so I will not make it even worse by caging them in a cage...

It's almost 3 a.m. I have spent the past several hours looking for a trainer like YOU. So glad I found you.
Subscribed.... going to go watch more!
I've got a rott mix foster dog that is not the least bit food or toy or praise motivated. She also immediately shuts down even at the sight of a leash. Even before clipping it on she drops to the ground and won't move.
My first impression was she must have been abused.
I need to got her past her fears to become adoptable.

I also watched other trainers videos but Will you are by far the very best. God gave you a gift and you did wonders with it. Talks about training a Rottweiler when the video demonstrates a Labrador(s) who I have had both and walk totally different. My 1 year rottie enjoys walks but only in certain areas. Glad I live in the countryside where he can roam and hang out with my older lab playing fetch and just being free mostly.

I have a German shep rottie mix. He’s a big old baby but also VERY reactive. Never bitten but does lunge toward passer-byers. I’ve gotten the crate training down and he also has “his place” in the house when we have visitors👌🏾 but walking on a leash is still a major task. Particularly getting him to stay next to me rather than ahead (leading/pulling me). When I first adopted him at around a year+, I hired a trainer who told me I should just “let a dog be a dog” and not be so focused on trying to keep him right next to me when we walk on the leash…I didn’t call him back but I did feel poorly and wonder if I was trying to be too strict or military-like with my pup…now that he’s showing his more reactive side, I’m scrambling to learn how to manage him. He lunged toward a man walking by our home just yesterday while I was in my garage working and he broke free from his tie. Scared the life out of the man. He didn’t bite. He’s not aggressive around our other dogs or cats in the home but is certainly protective when he’s tied to our tree or walking outside on the leash 😔 any tips or suggestions appreciated. Particularly if anyone owns a mix such as mine.

Don't be angry with your Rottweiler. Mayne he have the feeling, he have to protect you or have to say to others, this owner is mine. From the point of the Rottweiler, he does not do something wrong. You both speak two languages. So don't be angry, you both do not understand each other. First of all, have controll of your Rotti, than find a new area, where it is more chilled and have fun together. Build a new friendship, in an area, where is less poeple and less other dogs. So you and your dog is more relaxed. And then, you can train the basics and step by step it will become better. My Rotti from rumania was frighten of cars. We used a vibration collar, worked good. I used it only with this car issue, not with normal training. And not electic, only vibration. And maybe you will find a good trainer.

If you ever owned a Rott that eats your furniture you should not even own a dog, much less a Rottie.
Rottweilers have more energy than any 10-year-old kid in town.
#2, I agree with him. (kinda) Yet more simple disciplines are imperative first. Come, Sit, Stay, are very basic, still, it lets your Rott understand you are the Alpha before you move on to leach training.
