I have a rescue rottie. 1-1/2 year old. Brought her home and she was already house broke. She wakes me up in middle of night if she has to go. Ask what she wants, she looks toward door and starts off that way. Smartest dog I’ve had in my 70 years! Training now for recall. She sees our son as a sibling. Likes to wrestle with him. He’s 17 and martial arts black belt and she gives him a workout!
Thanks so much Sara, it's great to hear you're doing some research before bringing your pup home! Hope all goes well with settling them in and with training!
I got a rottie as was my first dog when I was 21 and I quickly learned how amazing the breed is so willing to learn and intelligent and these tips are right on point. My boys turning 9 in June and I don’t think I’ll have a better dog. If you don’t have constant patience and time to correct from day 1 till the end I wouldn’t suggest a Rottweiler.
I just got a rottsky and have been usiing a lot of knowledge from your videos in her training and it works perfectly! She is two months and already have immense success with potty training; socialization, and puppy biting!!
Now owner and oh my what a experience the last few weeks. Definitely the smarted and easiest to train. Even at four months she is the most loving dog even if she bites me. There is a few problem areas as she is very high energy and has a cycle of sleep, exercise, interact with the household and sleep again lol. But he is correct that calm and trust is important. This set time out does work after a the mini episode of all things wrong lol. Hey she is a puppy, she is going through the paces here. Be glad folks there is so many people on youtube willing to give advice.

Great outline of training. It starts from the time you pick them up, through out their life. Life long commitment but worth the work in leaps and bounds. I've never regretted it. I miss our beautiful lila so much but we're so glad we rescued her. They said she had a long list of behaviour problems when we went to see her, I think that made us more determined to adopt her because we knew she'd be stuck there. She took to the training and home family life really quickly. Boundaries, trust, disaplin, love and understanding. The rescue centre couldn't believe the difference in her when we took her back for a photo shoot three months later. Now we're waiting for the right rottie to show up again, when you know, you just know ☺
Positive training is really good for making good behaviours more common. Positive reinforcing isn't the best tool to remove a behaviour. This is were correction come in great, and I never mean you should hit a dog.
Have a rottie and a boxer now. Grew up on mixed breed dogs as i was poor growing up but had great success even from a very young age to train for kennel/crate even with outside dogs. I remember there was a free clinic for shots and spaying/neutering when I was like 10 and the vet nurse was impressed that my dog was kennel trained (even tho he was a 100% outside dog). Since then I've owned a GSP which was my first pure bred dog and the absolute love of my family. He was easily trained by myself although not perfect. Great dog no matter. He died and didnt own another for about 5-6 years. Got a border collie/heeler mix from my best friend. Trained her for my grandmother whom is home alone a lot. Great dog. Barks at strangers but recognizes family. Loving to all kids, mine especially. Now i have a rottweiler and a boxer. Both great. Needed protective breeds in my neighborhood. So far the rottweiler is the sweetest thang. The boxer too, but the boxer too friendly

(for more than just reliving them selves).
So what do I do if I've adopted an eccentric bearded side-shaved-headed bloke? Do they respond well to clicker training? I do have an e-collar that beeps, vibrates, and then shocks. With my previously owned pit pull terrier that collar worked quite well. The beep was enough to get him to stop whatever he was doing, and if it didn't the vibration did. I only ever had to use the shock mode twice.
I live in the countryside and, for the last two years, have been wanting to get either rottweiler or alsatian puppies. But the more I watch these clips, the more reluctant I become since I'm afraid that I won't be able to train them properly 🙁
We have an 11 week old rottie pup, and I'm wondering if you can give advice on socializing her. I really want to start as I know how important it is, yet we always hear to wait until 2 weeks after her last vaccination, which would then make her almost 16 weeks. I'm afraid we're missing out on crucial socialization time, but also don't want to risk her getting sick.
Hey I just got a Rotti puppy and he’s 8 weeks old he has his first set of shots but obviously not his last ones, when it comes to toilet training him is it ok to still go outside in the back yard in a designated area so he can learn to use the bathroom ? Cause I’ve heard that especially puppies are prone to getting parvo and are not protected from it fully untill their last shots but I wanna set him up for success and yet me and dad are hitting heads about what to do

My puppy is now two and i cannot get her to stop pulling & jumping. she only does it to the adults and never does it with the children (3&5) i tried treats but she just tries to bite my hand off. i need help 😂 she stays, sits and acts perfectly off the lead.
I have had my Rott puppy for a week now, he came home like a firecracker. He has no fear and even at 16lbs he bullies my older dog who is 100lbs. When he bites, it's not typical puppy nipping, it's more piranha frenzy with anger. He's getting better, any tips for my angry boy?
@@nothisispatrick6332 teach him a stop command by playing with a toy that he’s allowed to bite on, it’s important that he knows to stop when you tell him. also if he chews your hand don’t pull it away that’ll only encourage it further, rather make a ouch kinda noice so he’ll be aware that he’s hurting you, hopefully that should work
@@nothisispatrick6332 keep a leash on the pup when he is awake and free (not in a crate if you are crate training) this will allow you to control him in the environment a lot easier. Engage him and tire him out. They want attention and stimulation. Give him naps just like a toddler. They will fight their sleep and act out but as soon as you get them to relax they will knock out for 1-2 hours and you will have to repeat the cycle. Take them out a lot, to different places. Give them new experiences.
Hold him on the ground in a laying position ,side of his head flat on the floor till he stops fighting and let him go as soon as he stops fighting, if he nips when you let him go , do it again. He will see you as pack leader and you will win his respect. Obviously you want to do this while hes very young. This is a trick i learned from Cesar the dog whisperer and we used it on our pup, worked like a charmand and only took a day or two.
Definitely correct..we call it imprinting this man knows his shit..well done mate..i love all your content..i have always have saint benards..very similar actually..about to get a rotty..
Just found this site....If my puppy is 4 months can I start doing this? He does sit, down, stay and leave it and he is potty trained. I am wondering if I can start crate training during day as I have not. I thought I didn’t have to crate him since I was home with him. I realized that I can’t leave him in there for more than 30 minutes without whining. What to do?
Hey Priscilla, thanks for watching! We have a video on one of our other channels looking at how to crate train while being at home: ua-cam.com/video/iZqe9yU0Zfo/v-deo.html&pbjreload=101
We recently purchased a 4mth old male Rotti, I immediately noticed his right hind (back) leg have a slight pop like maybe a tendon snap when he walks. He don't seem to be in any pain. We took him to the vet 2 days after we got him & was told he could possibly grow it of it, I notified the breeder & was offered a different pup from another litter but we were already attached & didn't want to take him back mainly because I was worried about his well being. He's a happy pup 6mths old now & full of energy. I was wondering if you seen this type of condition before & if so use you seen cases where they correct on their own. Thank you in advance & love all your videos
Can you do a video on food aggression? I took your perfect puppy course and have been following it since my boy has been 7weeks he’s 6months now. His obedience is A1 (recall, heel, name, leash work etc) however he eats very aggressively growling into his bowl. I can put my hand in the bowl and touch him he’s just growls and this literally started about 2weeks ago. And making him wait doesn’t seem to do the trick. He will wait as long as I need him to, but as soon as he gets the command the aggressive eating begins. Just a little lost as to what to do at this point.
Potty training and sit stay are no where near as important for a new pup as socialisation. It's ridiculous to not even mention that. Rotties are whats known as a dominant breed. The males in particular are known to be prone to being dog aggressive. You socialise from day one and for the rest of their lives. You take that pup everywhere and introduce him/her to everything possible. New noises, new people, new dogs of all sizes and shapes (if your dog is still being immunised then carry him/her). Do this and you will have a balanced dog who doesn't react out of fear of the unknown. This is by far the most important part of owning a Rottweiler. There's no point in your dog knowing where to wee, and sit on command if its terrified of everything. You will lend up with a 130lb bag of muscle that reacts to dogs and possibly people. Do the best for the breed and never allow stereo types that cause negativity to raise its head. Training is second. You have a dog that is clever. Very clever. But getting your dog to sit or stay is a bi-product. The training is there to form a bond and should also carry on for the rest of the dogs life. Rotties again are a dominant breed. If you are not worthy of being its leader, it will take over. It is constantly looking to see if you are worthy. Again if you are not, the Rottie will decide whats best for it and not consult you. Equally important is what not to do. You should never try to ''train'' a Rottweiler to protect or even play aggressive. You will end up with a dog that has learned to solve problems with its power. The Rottweiler doesn't need training to protect you. You can have a couch potato or a dog you think is the most lazy, happy to see everyone pile of fur you've ever seen - But when (if ever) it's time to act, that dog will act and act without fear. Unless that dog is going into security or Schutzhund, you will only cause problems that you will have to correct later. I work with full international champions in the search and rescue field. I have worked exclusively with Rotties for decades. They are a truly staggering breed, capable of pretty much everything. They should not be owned by first time owners or even dog owners who have never had a big, intelligent dominant breed. DO NOT buy one if you don't understand how much work you will need to put in.
Hey Alexia, thanks for watching! We actually have a video looking at how to introduce a puppy to an older dog you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/RX8VL4K_03c/v-deo.html
Love the video for tips and advice. I’m looking to get a puppy rottie always wanted one. The issue I have is that I now live alone in a flat and work 8 hours at night , do you have any guidance on this as i don’t really want the puppy to be alone but I’m not left with much option if I were to get one.
I just got a Rottweiler puppy He’s almost got he’s name down I’m training recall and once he got that down imma start sit, lay, and stay. After that imma teach him place but I’m having trouble toilet training cause that’s something the requires a lot of time and since I work almost all day I don’t have all day to just be looking after him.
Crate train him , that makes potty training a lot easier. They are super smart , he can learn , sit , stay , down , in a matter of minutes. Use treats when he gets it right. Don't fuss when he doesn't. Never hit him or rub his nose in his pee or poop. Love him and be patient. They're super smart , set him up to succeed.
@@cozymachico2013 , diapers ? Are you serious ? Dogs don't wear diapers....where did you get that idea ? You need to get yourself and that puppy to a trainer IMMEDIATELY before you ruin the poor dog. Tell them that you don't know anything at all about dogs and to start from the beginning and teach you everything that you need to know. There are a million potty training videos on UA-cam. Potty training is easy , take the puppy out after he eats or drinks , every hour or so , and also as soon as he wakes up. Take him to the same spot every time. As soon as he uses the bathroom outside , give him a treat and lots of praise. Let him know that you are very happy that he used the bathroom. If he goes in the house , there's no point in fussing him. If you catch him in the act , say " No " ...scoop him up and take him outside to his bathroom spot. If he finishes using out there , lots of praise and a treat. Be consistent . In no time your puppy will understand that going to the bathroom outside gets him a treat , praise and happiness. I'm serious about getting yourself help before you ruin this dog. Good luck. This site has a puppy training class , check it out. Will knows his stuff.
I'm planning to get my first rottie in the next few years. I'm interested in purchasing from a good breeder, so I'm expecting a longer wait time. In that time, I'm attempting to prepare, but I'm struggling to figure out what I should be looking for when I'm looking for a trainer. Would you be willing to share some insight about how to find a trainer who is a good fit for both you and the breed?
Could you make a video giving your opinions on the best food for Rottweiler pups? I'm about to try my pup on food from Tails because it's been I bit of a struggle to find the right stuff.
Raw is the absolute best!!!!! If you cannot do that, then a very high quality premium food. I live in the US. And I feed Orijen and Fromm. Keep them trim. The Rott puppies from my breeder average about 8-10 lb weight gain/mo for males until about 8-9 months old. They then slow down and bulk up. Females are slightly less. A good size male should be around 115-125 lbs when full grown (around age 2-3). Some males do not mature until 3-4 yrs old. Keep them exercised. If you have a place they can swim, that is the best exercise of all. It works all their muscles, heart and lungs yet is easy on the joints. And almost all the Rotties I know love to swim. Good luck with your pup. Rottweilers are an absolutely amazing breed.
I have not gotten my Rottweiler puppy yet but any and all info you can give me on training her would be appreciated and I say her because I already know I want a female and I already have her name

And a question. The person I bought the puppy from told me that I can take him out side when he is at least 4 months old is that correct or can I take him out sooner
You can take him in your yard. Or a neighbor’s where you know the dog is healthy. But not places like dog parks. You have to balance socialization with being careful to prevent infections. And this is a critical age for socialization. If you go to pet stores, carry him or put him in a cart you have wiped down. Also carry him at the vet’s office. Also know the signs of parvo and if you think he may be showing them, call your vet. Better safe than sorry. Rotties have been said to be more susceptible to parvo than most dogs. I don’t know if this is a fact.
Think one of the very important one is be patient. It be cool if you did one on the rebellious stage you will hit after his a few months old specially in males. Most of my females where good but all my males seem to hit it. It goes away but can be discouraging for first time owner. 👍
I am idea where you get your puppy for the first day introduce you and your family and for the next days you teach him commands and basic training yes probably take a month or two because the dog is very smart it’s a very smart breed that’s my opinion but I really know anything
Toilet training is something I don't understand that people struggle with. Every dog we've had has learned by month 3 that they can vocally nag us to take them outside 😂 only exception was our first dog, he had a few accidents a little later on but that wasn't his fault

I know he’s a puppy and puppies teeth but he chews on everything and something’s when he’s hyper and we go to pet him he bites our hands and obviously he dosnt bite hard but don’t want it to be a habit. What would be the best way to help him?
Hey Mallory thanks for watching! We've got a number of different videos looking at biting over on our dedicated training channel but here's our latest upload on the topic: ua-cam.com/video/EfcxapE9DHQ/v-deo.html
Hi, I just got my rott too and he kinda does the same thing ☹️ Have you figured any way around it since you got him??
Will thanks, you help make it so much easier 😀
How much does it cost
Thank you in advance & love all your videos
none of the links work
great video!
I have a Rottweiler
I know this is extremely late, but for future reference I would Honestly try hand feeding him for a while.
can i ask where you found the puppy course? i’m hopefully getting my first rottweiler puppy in about 2 months.
I really wish you could reach out to me I would love some input on introducing a new puppy to an older Rottweiler
@@rottweilerfun9520 yes the thing is how do I potty train him to poop and pee inside whenever I put the diapers he just bites them
@@cozymachico2013 , diapers ?
@@rottweilerfun9520 it’s not an actual dipper their like pads for them too poop or pee
@@cozymachico2013 , those pads are a bad idea . They just teach the puppy to pee and poop in the house.
Hey Sam, thanks for watching and the idea. We have a masterclass for a raw food diet on our website if you want to explore that as an option
Hi I am from India my rottweiler is 2 months puppy it started to much can you help me sir ..
I have to ask every hour what about night time I have. 2 year old nd 6 month old haha
Should I buy a puppy that’s 11 weeks old?

Luckily we have a video for that over on one of our other channels! ua-cam.com/video/xad1lL0iy-M/v-deo.html
Thank you man
You're welcome!
So why does the add specifically say rottweiler but then go to a generic plan for any breed........
I have not gotten my Rottweiler puppy yet but any and all info you can give me on training her would be appreciated and I say her because I already know I want a female and I already have her name
Hopefully our channel can help but don't forget we have a number of training courses and we have an online puppy training course you can do from the comfort of your own home. You can find out more details over on our website: www.fenrircanineleaders.com
a lot of great content but i cant help but think of him as the Gordan Ramsey of Rottweiler training lol.
I have my third Rottweiler from a kill shelter from rumania. They have to suffer so extrem in these country. So many dogs waiting there an will be killed.
I really wish you could give me some advice on how to introduce a new Rottweiler puppy to an older Rottweiler

brilliant!
And a question. The person I bought the puppy from told me that I can take him out side when he is at least 4 months old is that correct or can I take him out sooner
Don't take him out until he has had all of his Parvo shots , they are very , very , susceptible to Parvo. Parvo kills.
@@rottweilerfun9520 he has two parvo shot how many does he need
You can take him in your yard. Or a neighbor’s where you know the dog is healthy. But not places like dog parks.
You have to balance socialization with being careful to prevent infections. And this is a critical age for socialization.
If you go to pet stores, carry him or put him in a cart you have wiped down. Also carry him at the vet’s office.
Also know the signs of parvo and if you think he may be showing them, call your vet. Better safe than sorry.
Rotties have been said to be more susceptible to parvo than most dogs. I don’t know if this is a fact.
How long can a rottweiler puppy stay on its own as i go to work .
Safely in a crate about 4-5 hours. Then they will need a potty break.
They cannot be left free in the house until they are much older.
Think one of the very important one is be patient. It be cool if you did one on the rebellious stage you will hit after his a few months old specially in males. Most of my females where good but all my males seem to hit it. It goes away but can be discouraging for first time owner. 👍
My girl was pretty rebellious!! Lots and lots of patience was needed but I got threw it!
My Rottie is now in the "I'm a little shithead" stage.
You are the Alpha!! And don't treat the dog like a human.
I'm so nervous and excited to get my baby boy soon
I have two and they're freaking crazy. Ahahahah
🙏🌹🤗
