    Fun fact about Conception II, it was built using the Persona 3 portable engine, so to me it's like a total overhaul of Persona 3 and I find that pretty cool. The game itself actually has decently deep mechanics when it comes to team building if you're into that sort of thing.

    The reason for the Accel World & SAO crossover is because the two series are written by the same author, and the rights for both are with the same publisher.
    That makes it really easy to make a crossover.

    Tokyo Xanadu was solidly ranked. The one reason major reason I stuck with it was the character system relation to the trails;CS series. It's even got our CS mascot, Towa fully recasted. And the character bio collections and mini side-stories for every npc that updates over the course of the game. Great attention to detail ^^ Def not on the same level as the trails series on the whole, but still charming nonetheless.

    Well, I understand that this is your list and your opinion, but, for real, giving a lowest grade to Dungeon Travelers 2, which is one of, if not the best dungeon crawlers on vita - challenging, like the old-school crawlers, with a lot of variety in builds and mechanics, plus also with a massive amount of post-game is a sin, imo

    Gonna disagree on Dungeon Traveler 2. I'm not even a fan of the over the top ecchi character designs, but as a DRPG it has a ton of content and the combat system is quite fun with plenty of team and character customization. Definitely doesn't belong in the same tier as something like Mei Q, solid C tier for me.

    actually Utawarerumono have 3 versions, 1 Mask of Deception, 2 Mask of Truth, and 3 Prelude to the Fallen which is just released in 2020. I don't play 1-2 but the 3 is absolutely the best game imo. It's kinna slow at first and a lot of dialouges that can make you sleep, and you have to watch 30 minutes cutscene to play a mission. But the combat system is a gem. A rank for me.

    • @CalebPorter1105
      @CalebPorter1105 2 роки тому +4

      Prelude to the Fallen is actually a remake of the original "Utawarerumono" game (plot is literally the same with the same CGs just with the Deception and Truth graphics engine) and there is even a full anime of the original game and Mask of Deception has an anime while Mask of Truth is getting an anime soon as well. The other two happen about 15-16 years after the first one in a different country with a lot of the characters and lore of the first game returning somewhat indirectly. You definitely should play Prelude before playing Mask of Truth though. The events of the first game become really important toward the end of Truth.
      There is also a new game coming out soon called Monochrome Moebius which is a prequel showing the past of the country in Deception and Truth plus the developers said there are other Utawarerumono things in the works. So if you are a fan of this series the future is looking good.

      @tombrooke1281 2 роки тому

      Great series, I've played the crossbell arc in English already but am still going to get the official releases to support future releases.
      Many people seem to think the crossbell arc is the best in the series but I disagree as I prefer travelling around to different locations without having a hub city really, the crossbell arc just felt a little more scaled down to me. It's great, as they all are but I found the trails in the sky series to be the best of what I've experienced in the series, the characters and story really make it for me. It's a bit disappointing we have to wait so long for translations but it is what it is. It's nice to see a company still focussing on a really story driven RPG because we don't really get them of the quality we used to. If square ever release a remake or remaster of xenogears I'll pay them whatever they ask!

    all this coupled with the Asian imports, the Japanese exclusive games that can be patched in using Repatch(Blue Reflection, I Am Setsuna, etc) the loads of PSP RPG's, The PS1 RPG's and the few Western RPG's.

    The SAO game that you mention to have PSP graphic is called Hollow Fragment. It looks like that because it's an ENHANCE PORT of Japan-exclusive SAO: Infinite Moment for PSP. Another game SAO called Hollow Realization continued the gameplay formula of Hollow Fragment and improve it. I swear, if you include it with Hollow Fragment for its bad graphic, you really need to look at the mirror. It's an MMORPG-like game. The effort that equivalent to MMORPG would inevitably declined graphic quality. SAO Hollow Fragment was considered the best SAO game. The graphic fit for its system it played with and the gameplay is great. The story is very good for those who watch/read SAO.
    If you played SAO games, you need to know this essential facts that a lot of fans have a misconception with: SAO console games take place in a different continuity than the anime/light novel, and it's recommended to play those game in order combined with watching the first half of season 1.
    The series run in chronological order: Hollow Fragment, Lost Song, Hollow Realization, Fatal Bullet, Alicization Lycoris. The crossover is non-canon to the console game continuity despite using it for base setting of the story.

    Very comprehensive list and helpful to reaffirm what I already kind of knew about the Vita JRPG lineup, being a consumer of JRPG's since the NES and SMS days, and that's that the type of games and creative direction just drifted far away from the type of adventure games that appeal to me. Love the Ys games on here, it's my favorite franchise and the reason I bought a Vita in the first place. Trails games are also good though I have yet to play the Trails of Cold Steel games. Otherwise most of these games fall into sub-genres that I really don't care for; Monster Hunter clones, first-person dungeon crawlers, RPG hack and slash crossovers, visual novels, rogue likes, or games that just try to be weird and unorthodox just because. There are a few good, more conventional ones like Exist Archive and Tales of Hearts R but they are like diamonds in the rough of this lineup. Now that being said I'd love for English patches to happen on all of the Trails evolution PSP remasters and also Phantasy Star Nova someday. Overall the Vita can't hold a candle to SNES, Saturn, PS2, PSX, PC Engine/PC Engine CD, Mega Drive/Mega CD, or the PSP when it comes to high-end software. Based on the top level releases I'd even compare the N64 and Gamecube offerings favorably in spite of the quantity being modest.

    I definitely tried Dragon Quest Builders and it was a fun game, but not on the Vita due to issues with backlighting during the night segments. If you are going for the platinum, play the PS4 version. It's much more of a couch comfort game. However, since there aren't any great games on the Vita, I might redownload this game and get all the challenges in it again just to have something to play on my walks. *shrug*
    Also, I don't know whether your Vita could handle it but mine cannot handle Secret of Mana - the game crashed and hardlocked my Vita forcing me to do a hard reboot of the system. (Of course, it could have been my Vita at the time was dying on a hill, I don't know if my new Vita could handle it. Not gonna risk it. :()

      It's because SAO have different games with different combat overall. Aquaria handle tradition sword-orient games like SAO, SA:O and Underworld. Artdink handle ALO due to their experience making aerial combat gameplay.

    I know you hate it but Natural Doctrine is my favorite on Vita, with Stranger of sword City in 2nd, and I've plat'd all (I think) drpgs and most jrpgd on vita. ND isn't for everyone, bit if it is for you, it is shockingly well designed.

      My problem is that he calls the game trash... and it's not. One thing is his personal taste, other is call the game trash. For me ND is one of the best on the Vita, a good challenge, good graphics, good gameplay...

    3:10 Adventures of Mana is very simple by todays standard since it's essentially a 1:1 port of the original Game Boy game with remade graphics (known as Final Fantasy Adventure in the US and Mystic Quest in the EU). So if you have the Mana Collection on Switch etc., you're not really missing out by playing the Game Boy game, but Adventures is a nice game that I enjoyed replaying. Definitely agree with C Tier. Sword of Mana is much more of a Remake/Reimagination, it adds a bunch of stuff. I don't think that Sword is necessarily better just because it has more (at times it feels more like a worse Secret of Mana), but it's a different experience than just playing the exact same game again with better graphics.

    If you have a Vita, mod it. I'm sure you're thinking "piracy", but not even for that. Setting custom themes is awesome. But the real reason is that you can, for instance, buy Trails in the Sky in the Japanese store, then apply an English language patch and bam, you're playing the Vita version of Trails in the Sky, or Trails in the Sky 2, or Trails in the Sky 3, or Trails from Zero, in English. Bam. Three more S tier games. And one B tier.

    I respect your opinion and I do not want to hate on anybody cuz everybody will consider me to be toxic. But personaly, I disagree with a fewer of things.
    First thing that caught my eye is low tier for Digimon. I don't care if it is a copycat of Pokemon. Story Cybersleuth appeared to be a nice game when I started playing it. What differs it from Pokemon is that the story is actually interesting, you solve cases, your Digimon won't be bored on "someone's PC" (Reference to Pokemon) but you get Digifarms, where you can pay to get item (not actual money), train your Digimon to buff some stats and let Digimon investigate so you will get some extra cases later. Battles are dynamic, and you manipulate with 3 special types of DIgimon - vaccine, virus and data - vaccine can restore objects that give you some items, data allows you to extract some important info and run faster, etc. There are also domination battles and CTF. You definitely won't get bored and it's not considered to be exactly Pokemon, isn't it? Oh, btw, completion time is 100 hours.
    Secondly, Persona 4 Golden is A tier. Welp, I found it a bit odd - but that's okay - at least it's not THAT below as Digimon.
    Thirdly, Freedom Wars deserve to be higher. The combat system is much better than in most of other shooters and JRPGs. I played it and I had so much fun. Bosses are actually hard, for each stage there's a time limit, you spend OVER 30 MINUTES to finnish the operation. You COULD take part in battles online or beat some boss online. You can upgrade weapons, enhance them, produce medicine, muntions etc. Upgrade your facilities where you produce medicine, upgrade weapons or manufacture them. Donate others some important resources and reduce your sentence. THIS WAS TONS OF FUN. I would put it in S surely.
    5. I understand that Neptunia doesn't deserve to be in B tier, but it should not be on D tier either. Gotta say, you've put some unpleasant to me games at C tier, but you disgusted Neptunia. I mean it's not THAT BAD. It's mediocre.
    6. You said SAO could potentially be a good game? Well, never heard of such thing. It was always OK, but never actually good. I mean even on PC it looks OK. For PC games, it's not that good. What I witnessed in Lost song is that the map at start was completely empty. I don't care how marvelous the looks of characters were and how attractive the skills were, I found it sooooo boring. No matter how good anime was, this looked not so much of fun. Oh, and I hate those wings - though it makes some difference in combat, but it's soooo hard controlling your character in fight. I dunno, maybe others did well with it. Don't yell at me if I upset someone.
    Agreed completely with all S tier included in the video.
    Edit: I mean everyone has it's own opinion on each game, but I tried to be as fair as I could. I would send some other games to their deserved tier but I just could not help but to notice these games - these are popular JRPGs after all. Some might even consider Neptunia to be actually good.

    I'd give The Longest 5 Minutes an E only because it is stupidly expensive, at $39.99, and it has never gone on sale. (Then again, the Vita store has stopped doing sales since the support for it was dropped.) It's not worth $40.

    I am surprised that you didn't like the Neptunia games but to each their own. I loved Tokyko Xanadu EX+ I thought Falcom did an amazing job with it. I also loved Ys Origin. But Yeah The Vita versions of the Neptunia games are better than the PS3 counterparts. The the first Neptunia game on PS3 is the worst one because of the battle system and mechanics it has is very odd while The 2nd and 3rd games on PS3 are improved over the first game while the first Vita game took the battle system from the 2nd game on PS3 and put it into that version of the game. I never owned a Vita but I owned a PSTV that allowed for certain Vita titles to be played on the Big screen and that is how I played and pumped over 230hrs into Persona 4 Golden.
