The Comments column for the is new video looks a bit sparse, so let me begin... It is stated the video was shot on June 22, 2024. Exactly 80 years earlier (June 22, 1944), my father's log book reveals that he flew his 16th operation to attack the V1 site at Siracourt, Pas de Calais. He was a 578 squadron (4 Group) 20-year old rear gunner baed at Burn The squadron operated the Halifax III. He and his crew completed 40 operations, after which they were all awarded the DFM and gazetted. He told me once that they had an exemplary record of bringing back photographs of the target being hit. Indeed, the squadron motto reads "Accuracy". On that day of June 22, 1944, he was flying in Halifax LK-J which was piloted, not by the usual captain, but by the squadron CO, Wing Commander D S S Wilkerson, DSO DFC - a very popular man with both his aircrews and ground crews.
