I use generally use 300 ppi for print jobs and 72 ppi for UA-cam tuts to save space in my computer, however, I recently decided to use higher resolutions for future tuts for the very reason you mentioned. Thanks for the question! Marty
I just subscribed to your channel. I have done 6 of the tutorials using CS4 and the results were pretty much exact. I did these in just a few hours. Your teaching methods are very concise and easy to understand. I found the best way to do the lesson is to go slowly pausing the tutorial after completing each step. If the image step did not come out right, I backed up and repeated the step until it did. I found the shortcuts to be very useful. It was also very helpful when you wrote the color selection numbers on the screen. Thank you for your tutorials.
Anything done on earlier versions can be done now, but some of the tools may look different and their locations may be placed elsewhere. I've done many space-related tutorials on later versions. Go to my channel and click the magnifying glass icon (next to “About”). Type in "space".
Hello, I am doing this tutorial and my twirl tool made my object one single line rather than a twisted shape. Any suggestions? I am in RGB 8 bit mode and used the same Pixel/DPI sizes
A very high quality tutorial demonstrating an interesting and advanced effect. You don't find both of those in the same video too often on UA-cam, except from a few sources. Thank you for your awesome tutorials.
Something odd happens when I try to hide the planet with the rings using the mask. The more I hide, the more White shows up, I think the white is the outer glow, but not sure whats going on.
idk why but once I get to the twirl part it won't let me twirl it's greyed out. Is there something I missed or did they change how your able to twirl now?
Great tutorial. I was going really fine right up to 6:41 as soon as I click colorize it all turns a colour something like #edc6c6. I have made sure over and over again that the star layer is the only one selected. Help please any idea why?
This was one of my earliest tutorials. I apparently skipped a step. After you ick the adjustment layer icon at 6:40, you need to clip it to the layer below it. Press Ctrl + Alt + G (Windows) or Cmd + Option + G (Mac). Sorry about that!
Your tutorials are awesome! I ran into the same problem. I did what you said in this comment, but only the planet layer underneath is not effected. All the other layers under that one are grey. Any idea? Thank you!
also once u did the noise on the top layer and somehow got to lvls i cannot figure that part out choosing layers in the bottom creates a new layer just for levels not sure how im the only one seeing this
for some reason in all of your tutorials my effects come out looking drastically different than yours. for example: the twirl effect for me did not look anything like this. same with some effects in your sun tutorial. i am using cs5 extended as well.
Whenever a document's size and/or resolution is changed, the setting amounts in the many of the filters, adjustment layers and layer styles need to be changed, as well, in order to achieve the same results.
I surprised that I can learn something from 9 year old videos xd

you are the best for tutorials
thanks
You used the color 11207B for the planet but I feel 11207A harmonizes with the background so much better
great tutorials!

great tutorial but a bit fast to follow along with have to click play/pause 100x to keep up but great work!
also your outerglow and inner glow made mine super bright
Yes, this was an early tutorial of mine, so my pacing was very fast.
also once u did the noise on the top layer and somehow got to lvls i cannot figure that part out choosing layers in the bottom creates a new layer just for levels not sure how im the only one seeing this
Excellent amazing video its looks like same as a planet.....
Everything came out looking pretty good, but that outer glow killed it lool
You make it so easy Marty.. love your tutorials
Great tutorial as usual. Happy new year
Hey, I
Grateful :)
Awesome tutorials!
Great...
I don't know how I missed this one. Another fantastic tutorial! Thanks, so much, for all the effort and the great lessons in Photoshop.
It's crazy how often Gaussian is pronounced incorrectly. Anyway, nice video, but I'd go easy on the lens flares.
He isn saying that.He just writes and the computer "talks" for him.But he makes the edits on the video
Thank you very much!!
You are Awesome!

Make sure you're in RGB mode. Image > Mode > RGB, 8bits/pChannel
Could you make an illustrator account too
Is it possible for normal cs5? Thanks for the reply
Which Photoshop is used in this tutorial Marty?
5:50 Where do I get to that Levels window?

Black Hole ?
Muy buena explicación, gracias!
I can't even
What are you doing this minute 4:05 .Which tool?
Brush.
Will this work with different document sizes or are the ones you provided necessary?
Whenever a document's size and/or resolution is changed, the setting amounts in the many of the filters, adjustment layers and layer styles need to be changed, as well, in order to achieve the same results.
Gratitude for the education you provide.
agreed
Awesome, looks pretty cool :D

Thank you!
جزاك الله خيرا
