Thanks for this one. I wanted to create an image of an annular eclipse as seen from Earth where the object creating it isn't a moon (not even disc-shaped) so I had to really wrangle up some interesting solutions. I ran through the tutorials twice, making two sets of your eclipse image in a single file and carefully compared what was part of the "sun" effect and what was part of the "moon" effect. Then I replaced the moon effect with my custom obstruction's silhouette (since it is back-lit by the sun) and basically applied everything done to the "moon" to the "obstruction" I removed the stars (since an eclipse seen from Earth would happen during the day) and then had about 2 hours of fiddling with the effects to make sure they were working with the edges of my custom obstructions irregular edges and gaps. In short, your tutorial didn't just teach me how to make YOUR eclipse. It taught me how to make AN eclipse. You taught a man to fish today, so to speak.
I really appreciate Marty the tutorials that you do! Thank you for taking the time out of your life to do them. I'm learning a little bit of this in school but because my major is not photography or graphic design but film instead I have to teach myself. I love the simplicity and clarity of your instructions. Thank you again!! ☆☆ ~Kelly
Helle Marty Do you have a film that shows how to bring an old black white photo with a new color photo, and get them to fit together perfectly? thank you for your good and instructive film - I used google to translate my English is not good :-) with best regards Lars
I just attempted and completed a fantastic rendition of your Solar Eclipse tutorial. The similarity of your generated eclipse and a current picture of the sun is amazing. The hot spots around the rim are placed amazingly close to where you have placed the hot spots in your tutorial.
