    Born in a foreign country and migrated to another foreign country , but Greece is always in my heart............Greeks are very resilient people, they have survived far worse situations than this one and will no doubt do it again............I often close my eyes and travel to the Dodecanesian Islands where my ancestors came from.........

      And now you have a crisis in Turkey as well, runaway inflation of the Lira. Better get rid of Erdogan soon or he will destroy your country and its economy and you will be as worse off as the Greeks or even worse.

    Honestly the best documentry on the crisis! By far to date I am glad the people are going back to their heritage and to anyone who thinks Greeks are lazy!? This is crazy talk !!! To go back to the old ways is wonderful because once upon a time Greece had it all they didn't need any other countries and this documentry actually shows great hope for not just the Greeks but to all people..... In time maybe we will all need to think about doing things the way we used to!!! Love and light to all oz fee

    Thank you for producing this video. Here I am watching this in 2020 and I am identifying with the people featured. I understand their struggle and their spirit. My grandparents came to America 109 years ago in the hopes of a better life. Now a century later, I am developing my plan so that I may return to the "patrida". I hear the voice of ancestors calling me to come home.

I really respect all those people and hope that one day I can have the balls to live in the same way. Ps: hi from Turkey :)

    Wonderful video of people who came to the realization of the need to go back to basics and back to the village. I am proud of them. This is the future of Greece. The new Greece. Getting back to the basics and reinventing themselves because this is what they need to do.

    If the UK is hit by a similar economic collapse things will be much worse as no-one has a village to go back too. The country was industrialised so long ago that everyone has long lost touch with the land. It is 100% urban industrial proletariat.

    • @p.s.56
      @p.s.56 4 роки тому

      @@largepint NorwegianOlive actually, most people I know, especially islanders, own at least some portion of land, along with homes in villages. The industrial Revolution never really hit Greece, and people have been moving en mass to big cities only in the last century, so having land was always pretty significant and it still is in the hands of the people.

    Solar power and keep as much as possible on DC and only a few things thru an inverter for 220 volts 50hz AC current. A cheap alternative to the batteries is to use Marine batteries. Many things can be operated on DC voltages of 12 24 and even 48 volts. Refrigerators can be electric AC 220 or DC 12 or kerosene or even propane. Communication might have to be satellite.....

    Lent cheap money when they joined the Euro club... but no way to pay it back because they didn’t earn enough. The few who did earn the lions share, didn’t feel they needed to pay any taxes... and so things imploded... The country borrowed money it couldn’t afford.

    ...except that the old Greeks never considered democracy the ideal state form. Plato said that the rule of one man - monarchy, and the rule of everybody - democracy, are both aberrations to be avoided. Instead, the ideal form of government is oligarchy - the rule of the select few. This is what you will never hear at your state university.

    It’s beautiful in a sense. But it is also how all dark ages start. We can’t continue to support our extravagant progressive lifestyles, so we simplify, but we forget the things we no longer use, and a generation or two later many skills have languished and perished

    Money has to changed. Debts have to be lowered, and credit gotten rid of. Countries have to be producing the things they need for themselves. And get back to natural practices. Every time I see the red vinyl like the ones the woman was holding in the market where they trade things, I think to whats wrong with the world. Yet they have sheep. Sheep skin boots lined with wool. Things like this.

    Awesome 'flood the villages and bring new life into them all,,, if I could have chosen where I'd live withy family an friends.
    It would be in the countryside's of Greece and with with any chance of living somewhere like one of those villages in Greece 'I will be loving the life & looking forwards to creation my future in agriculture in some way. I love this Australia 'but for me Australia doesn't compare to the air and quality of all foods of Greece & the Australian laws of freedom are a complete joke for humanity, which ends up creating the young people to start doing stupid shit 'the most common things in life like fruits an all types of foods are of lesser quality compared to Europe!
