So many nay sayers here today. Thanks for the video Dan. One must always be careful in foreign countries especially in their cemeteries. Appreciate your respect.
Here in our largest cemetary, where most famous Antwerp people are burried, you can "adopt" a neglected grave or tomb and take care of it. Then when you die you can be burried there (there's some rules though) Still this keeps the cemetary and monuments from coming in to a state of decay while still respecting the dead.
@@shirlysmilesmusic6919 many children died from diseases which we are fortunately given vaccines for nowadays. Diphtheria, polio, smallpox tb etc, which has mainly disappeared.
I find it amazing that you actually find your way out of these places. I’m sure if it were me, I’d still be in there 24 hrs later still looking for the exit!
What amazes me is one mauspleum with doors unlocked and in perfect condition and just a few feet away is another that looks like a cyclone ran through it and the doors are locked,
You have to figure SOMEONE had keys to all of these, if not the earlier cemetary "heads" then the families certainly had them. Just think- family would actually go there, unlock the door, go in and pray at those little altars and the like, and then they stopped going, someone lost the key or relatives found an old key in a deceased family members' drawer when cleaning their belongings out, but nobody knew or remembered what the key went to. I suspect some of the doors that you think were locked were actually not LOCKED, or they were open at some point and close/locked after the damage was discovered.
Love this so much and I love that parts are falling down it’s such a statement of time and fading memory it’s haunting, beautiful and I love it Thankyou!
Ciao !!! Nessuno ti odierà in Italia se tu, nel cimitero, porti rispetto ai defunti. Hi Dan It’s Brendan from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 Thank you for the videos It’s a shame that most of the Mausoleums are not maintained well As they look expensive to construct But in saying this The surroundings look peaceful R.I.P for all those who are buried there
A lot of those graves had very interesting writings. I paused and used Google Lens to translate. There where real stories told on some of those graves.
And then many had those ceramic portrait medallions so you could see what the person once looked like when alive! they are still made today, but the ones I saw on line come with a cheap self-stick kind of adhesive which will fail in short order, the old ones were often embedded and cemented into a little recess cut into the stone so they were in there secure from vandals prying them off. Wish our host for these videos would take more time on those portraits so we can see them better and more of them
Wtg Dan, another great video ❤so sad though. Talk about the forgotten dead! Especially those young ones in that 'alley'. Those mausoleum's/ columbaria etc must have cost as much as a house for the living only to be treated that badly by the cemetery 😢 very sad
This is like a once affluent neighborhood that has turned into a slum. I can't imagine the amount of money it would take to put it back in first class condition.

It's up to the families to care for their plots and some can't. There are plenty of other things that should be taken care of by the people who run the cemetery.
These places look so tidy in spite of the crumbling of old stone. I wonder if they have volunteers to clean up the most? There is no rubbish to see. I love your channel ❤ It makes me feel calm and a bit somber. You are so respectful too. Not to speak of the unintentional ASMR 😊
It's so sad that they dont keep the cemetery neat and tidy out of sheer respect. I would feel deeply offended if i went to visit a relatives grave and i found this mess.shocking. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Its amazing to think that they spend all this wealth on their dead, only to be forgotten and neglected two generations latter... Like the beautifull lady at 4:48. Tucked away, in an abandoned corner, completely forgotten... Or the tiny baby at 11:40... the parents geif, now long forgotten nor cared for... Im so surprised, as being half Italian, I expected the care for the ancestral dead would have been much better looked after... I guess I was wrong. 😞
I suppose he cannot always look inside in respect of the dead and where he is. And he says d he had a short time. There is lot of other videos where he shows the inside of masoleums and even crypts.

Re the graffiti on one of the headstones, you didn’t linger long enough nor focus/zoom in enough for me to read it properly. I’ve, nevertheless, tried (unsuccessfully) reading it by freeze-framing and focusing in (add to this the difficulty in deciphering the handwriting).

Explain what is the cemetery is with a mausoleum and so close together at the few ground Graves I've seen how in the world do they have funerals there I'm just curious excuse me but I live in the United States so I'm very interested in seeing these beautiful cemeteries ❤❤❤ Respectfully
It is so incredible to me that these places just go on and on and on. Does the Mafia own these Cemetery/Masoleum grounds? Are we still in the same place as Part 1 and 2? Very overwhelming to say the least. They don't have road signs like they do in France.
Beautiful place, however, you go thru the place too quickly. I'm really not understanding the purpose of your videos. There were so many headstones and vaults I wished you would have taken a minute or so at. It's almost like you start at one end and how long will it take you to find your way to other end. Yes, your Italian pronunciation leaves a lot to be desired. But don’t worry… I don’t hate you 😄 Incidentally, what was written on the side of that mausoleum (“giugno 2004”) was “June 2004”. Either the plastering design of that outside wall was done in 2004 or the entire structure. I suspect, though, it was relating to the external plastering design.

It’s such a shame that it’s so neglected having such expensive mausoleums there. It’s like a miniature town.
I was thinking the same thing, like crypt town
Sometimes I think that the graves that are really neglected is because no family members are alive anymore to tend to them.😢
