    I could listen to Stone all day. A great and original storyteller. Platoon and Wall Street are the two best movies of the 80's.

    I started watching this, planning to see it in instalments. I watched it all in one sitting, I had to listen to the very end. Stone is such a fascinating speaker, not to mention a great film maker.

    We need more directors like him. I hope that someday someone will continue the path of storytelling and not giving in to the evils of Hollywood. Be true to yourself and be an artist with something to profound to say.

    There are no modern filmmakers that are following in Stones footsteps and there should be. He's done his part, and now its time for a new generation to take his lead. There are so many questions that filmmakers should be asking the american public.

    The same critical nonsense was said over and over about Sam Fuller's movies - and still is, even by his admirers: "No subtlety." "Blunt." "Grabbing by the throat." And his pictures are more memorable than 90% of everything that was made while he was working. Just as Stone's are. Thanks for sharing this.

    History and psychology show us that fascism creates inequality, conflict, and unhappiness.
    In contrast, democratic socialism, a system where everyone's human rights are valued, and everyone has equal wealth and power, means equality, peace, social harmony and happiness.

    I will say Oliver Stone is nutty. But there is some weird sense to how he describes his films. I'm glad I saw this because now I have a lot more clarity on his body of work. Born On The Fourth Of July might be my favorite he did. He did a great job in capturing that piece of Americana of being young and naive about war. Kind of ironic when you see this is labeled as 2001. The same year we would have 9/11. And of course our new Vietnam. But I don't want to simplify it like that. Love our military and know in reality they are the last line of defense if shit hits the fan.

    A lot of these Oliver Stone videos are in need of volume adjustments--barely audible at 100% volume. This one and the Bill Moyers interview are just two examples. I'm missing a lot of these programs because I can't hear them. Please see what can be done about this--I'm not having this problem with other videos, so it's not my equipment that's the problem.

    This was 1991 for crying out load. After continues attacks on churches, schools, and mass mourders from islamic`s "innocent civilians" the indonesians "suddently changed to 97.3% islam.
    there was 253 different repot of murder on citisence for not convert to islam.

    I think Stone is a brilliant filmmaker, but I cannot wrap my mind around the idea that it's wrong to be a fascist. I've studied numerous political schools of thought and fascism made the most sense because it was unilateral, crystalline and clear.

    Those ''points'' had no subtlety or originality to it.Platoon is a film made up of every anti-soldier cliche,with one dimensional good guys and bad guys...and charlie sheen is maybe the worst actor ever.Wall Street is only redeemable because of douglas.Again,sheen,maybe the worst actor ever.Cruise is good in born on the 4th of july,but it's nothing more than a dreary and melodramatic story about a self-pitying,drunken cripple.His films are like scorsese's raging bull,seeing it once..is enough.

    • @KlausBahnhof
      @KlausBahnhof 3 роки тому +1

      The story and characters in Platoon were based on Stone's lived experience as a soldier in Vietnam. To describe the film as 'anti-soldier' demonstrates that you didn't actually pay attention to the story or the characters.
      Many of his films are worth repeat viewing, especially given that some people apparently have trouble understanding his film making style... yourself for example.

  • @MrKUBRICKIAN

    Other than some outstanding technical achievements in JFK,the guy has contributed nothing to cinema.He's made films that are not only bad,there actually flat out unwatchable.Salvador? Sucked.Platoon? Really fucking sucked.Wall Street? Sucked.Born on the 4th of july?Depressing...and it sucked.The Doors? Depressing...and it sucked.JFK? Sucked.Natural Born Killers? Maybe the worst movie ever made.I gave up after that.I haven't seen a movie of his since.
