    Its true that Stone has released more than a few bombs over the years, however he is still one of the best living directors.

      All of his films were brilliant. It’s all about quality. How much a movie makes is irrelevant.

    So eloquent and an amazing intellect. He's the Homer or Socrates of our times. The way he is framed in the media is disgraceful. Comparative to Orson Welles. A braver filmmaker than the likes of Scorsese, Spielberg etc.

    • @annalisavajda252
      @annalisavajda252 Рік тому

      Well he's talking about perception and using our senses many people lack that he's not speaking the same language he can't dumb it down and many resent having to make the effort to comprehend him.

  • @Guitarron28
    @Guitarron28 14 років тому +5

    Oliver Stones' movies are in a sense conversations with history, as spoken in this interview; but when you examine most of his movies, a current theme is a loss of innocence, and moreover, modern tragedies that strike a chord in the heart of those that are willing to watch his movies without a severe critical eye..born on the fourth of july and the story of Ron Kovic is great and the only film that gives evidence of great acting by Tom Cruise...only my opinion

    • @annalisavajda252
      @annalisavajda252 Рік тому

      Well that is what he discussed about being raised with perceptions about how life is vs reality of how life is particularly with trauma which is more than a loss of innocence and being naive it kills a part of a person sometimes they have to grieve the loss of their own life and identity too. Some soldiers come back from war and they are never the same after what they experience and witness and people who knew them still talk to them as if they are the same because they still have those perceptions so then the soldier feels alone because they know even friends and family don't really know them anymore since who they were no longer exists. Stone obviously was not completely debilitated as some are the creative outlet probably helped him he's being authentic but he layers it in drama to make it more palpable for most.

    Oliver Stone should make a Shakespeare movie. Perhaps Julius Caesar.

  • @Guitarron28
    @Guitarron28 11 років тому +3

    I appreciated his acting in both Rain Man and Magnolia; in fact Magnolia was very impressive; but perhaps it was what the subject matter entailed with born of the 4th of july that gave it more weight..in my opinion ("in my opinion" is the key phrase; I'm not stating it as fact...and you what is really funny..I cannot recall making that particular judgement on here, until I looked at the comment again)

    Oliver seems to want to treat the JFK murder and Viet Nam as somehow separate.

    When I watch this it will be interesting to see how separate he makes them look.

      No, Oliver Stone’s Vietnam films are actually more realistic. You’re full of crap for supporting disgusting pro-war movies that glorify blind nationalism. Oliver Stone’s films have heart & it’s anti-war. War is wrong!
