After all rose has been through,almost being killed multiple times,being tricked multiple times, having to basically fight her self,she gave up the thing she wanted to beat Mother Miranda
The Eveline fight was so creative and reminiscent of the previous game. For Rose, Eve's a nobody and probably a spoiled child but for Eveline, Rose is someone she always wanted to be who had something she always wanted even with freak powers

If you see Eveline as a psycho just don’t forget that she is just a kid who is used for experiments and wants a family.

Personally, I wanted Michael to be Heisenberg. What he said to Rose made it obvious that it was Ethan, but I would have loved to see him get his revenge on Miranda like he wanted. Play the godfather figure to Rose and tell her about her father

The entire Winters Saga had an ongoing theme of Family RE7 was all about Family, with The Baker family being corrupted, Zoe trying to save her family, Eveline wanting a family. The Bakers themselves seem to put family above all else. RE Village has Ethan saving his family, Alcina fighting to avenge her family near the end of her section, Miranda trying to bring back her dead family, Heisenberg trying to leave the family
I always felt like rose giving up the crystal was her embracing who she was; she realized that her powers are a part of her and that she can be more than her gifts
this is how I imagine by dad guiding me through life, he passed away years ago but I always feel him around especially when the going gets tough. This DLC was very emotional to me
The DLC really adds context to that last scene, and it makes me excited to see what they have planned for the next game. A return to the over-shoulder game, and an exploration of the concept of the main character being one of the mutants. No doubt we'll see an older Chris in the next game, who knows who else might make a return?
I remember watching Maximilian Dood play this and he thought capcom should do a whole game based around the house Beneviento. It’s not a bad idea. That is the scariest part of both the original Resident Evil Village and Shadows of Rose.

I reallly like the Resident Evil villains but they are a little bit one note. They're usually insane megalomaniacs who are beyond redeemable as people. We meet them throughout the story they explain their one goal we corner theym after killing all their underlings and they transform into a giant tentacle monster that we also kill. I really hoped they would do something different with Eveline in 7 but she was just the evil child horror movie trope adapted for RE. This DLC at least gave her a little bit of a character beyond that. I hope the next RE gives us a villian with a little bit more shades of grey.
This is one reason why I pondered, whether it would have been an improvement for Rose to originate as a perfected later variant of Eveline, whom the BSAA rescued in time and the Winters couple raised under their custody. That is, rather than Rose being Ethan and Rose’s post-Mold biological child. Going such a route could have symbolically allowed Ethan to do just that for Eveline and given him more of a Silent Hill’s Harry Mason vibe. That would have also given Mother Miranda a stronger reason to view Rose as her stolen property. And it could have made Rosé’s confrontation with Eveline more surreal, with the two of them being differently-aged doppelgängers of each other. This would in turn add even more Silent Hill vibes, like between Heather Mason and Dark Alessa.
Duke was like an ally to Ethan but not to Rosemary , this figure to me remains a mystery since i cannot known he neither has allied or hostile intent , neither a friend or enemy but one thing for sure : He stays more active than Nikocado Avocado
I'm a little surprised they didn't add Jack and Marguerite in some way to aid Rose. They had to be attuned enough to the mold to still survive within in the same way Ethan has.
Idk how she can love her father so much when she was just an infant who couldn't form any memories. It's like me missing my distant grandfather from the medieval times.
The beauty of Ethan it's the fact even if he's doomed his love for Rose is wonderful to see: his daughter are everything for him so it's okay to die if it mean the safety of his Rose. Probably the best ending in a video game ever...my eyes and heart are heavy everytime I see this one: I wish being a top boyfriend and marvelous dad at the same time just like Ethan. i loved that evelin came back here and it makes sense for her to be there. but sad to see, that she has so much more presence and manece in the dlc of the second game, where she isnt even a real part of. also, the twist of micheal beeing ethan, was to obvious. felt like a daddy talking after you left the dungeon and reached the castle. and a missed chance, to have a random stranger see rose at the park bank, sitting and talking to the air (which makes sense for that person, since no one was there to answer roses talk) and looking strange at her for that, making rose say: see even strangers think iam a freak. would make sense for her mindset and would be a nice aha moment, since when you first have that scene, you would think rose is right with her thought but the truth is: the stranger was right
Having lost my dad 2 years ago, I can relate to her pain. Angry, ticked off, depressed, trying to make sense of the world. I still haven’t played either RE 7 or 8. It was touching to see Rose reunited with Ethan, if only a short while.
Love the consideration of the developpers for the gamer community with putting the heart of the monster in a very bright colors, like we will have no clue where to shoot if it's not indicated in such a way 🤣

I think that’s the only part I didn’t like about the dlc. I don’t understand why they won’t show his face. You move the camera angle thinking you can see it and his face moves away or blocks it with his arm.
There was a note at where he use to be a shop written by him saying he forgot everything. Plus this probably not actually him and just a manifestation of him and the real him couuuld be alive outside
There’s also a note towards the end written by Miranda saying that most people’s memories/consciousness in the Megamycete end up diluted and scattered and mixed up with each other, and with much effort she gathered much of them and created a new entity, moulding him in the form of a man she knew (the Duke), but the process was imperfect, and it left him crazed and sadistic, and he was also missing half of his face, hence the mask. Tl;dr, it’s not The Duke, at least not really. It’s a copy Miranda made using pieces of other consciousnesses in the Megamycete that she made to look like The Duke for the sake of familiarity.

I appreciate that they tried to stick to the whole script of not *really* knowing what Ethan looks like by tastefully hiding most of his face when he showed up. At least he had a head in this game. XD
I will say: Between this, End of Zoe and Separate Ways, the RE games nail storyline DLCs. I'm wondering why people didn't like Shadows of Rose, as I personally found it more engaging than some of the stuff in the main campaign. Only annoying part was the Castle D part, but the dolls and mannequins in Beneviento House were creepy and the perfect usage of that space. Eveline and Miranda boss fights were better than most of the actual Village boss fights, IMO.
I'm requesting this right now. Since we've had Chris, Jill, Wesker and Nemesis in MvC3 they need to put Rose in a later entry. This chick would be so broken

They also had concept art where ada was sent to the village from 6 so the theory was she saved Ethan and helped fake his death but again capcom felt they had star power and canceled that idea
It feels like playing a fantasy game, only what's missing are the mythical creatures,magics, different races like orcs,goblin and many more races that exist within the fantasy world.
Did you know at the end? If you look at the End Of The Road, you'll see a figure on the side of the road. That is ethan from the main campaign he survived the explosion and escaped

I will say: Between this, End of Zoe and Separate Ways, the RE games nail storyline DLCs. I'm wondering why people didn't like Shadows of Rose, as I personally found it more engaging than some of the stuff in the main campaign. Only annoying part was the Castle D part, but the dolls and mannequins in Beneviento House were creepy and the perfect usage of that space. Eveline and Miranda boss fights were better than most of the actual Village boss fights, IMO.
I'm requesting this right now. Since we've had Chris, Jill, Wesker and Nemesis in MvC3 they need to put Rose in a later entry. This chick would be so broken

They also had concept art where ada was sent to the village from 6 so the theory was she saved Ethan and helped fake his death but again capcom felt they had star power and canceled that idea
