@@theimortal1974 Technically officially. Ethan has had a face model since RE7 you can see a glimpse of it when fighting Evaline and she throws him out the window. People just went in the files. He has the same face in 8. He really does just look like "some dude" & I adore them for that.
It's so sad that in the megamycite's memory will always be stored "Ethan will always protect Rose from biggest danger, Miranda" like,... it was the only scenario Rose can meet her dad, through her fight with Miranda.
What if Ethan could still be a key player later on? Perhaps he’s still alive within the collective of the megamycite, it manipulating him with waves of enemies and hallucinations of his daughter constantly being in danger, injured or killed because he couldn’t do enough. Perpetuating his necessity to protect his daughter. Perhaps he could now be connected to her via his ring and she can talk to him, instead of just him being an illusion. He slowly starts getting more control of the megamycite and begins to develop the ability to traverse the real world. Doing anything he can to protect his daughter, and anyone who gets in his way is seen as the monsters he’s faced in the past in his eyes.
so, essentially, it would fall down the tragic path of his mental state within deteriorating, he sees more and more a threat to her, and eventually becomes a threat himself, not realizing it.
A heroic, self-sacrificing Father Figure in a piece of modern media??? I must be hallucinating! But serious, Ethan "Michael" Winters played such an incredible part to this DLC. Constant chills down my spine from the moment he arrived (in person), leading up to the Final Boss. Also, it is wonderful to see Resident Evil go completely fucking insane again. You all thought it was over after 6, that they were "returning to their roots", forgetting that Resident Evil has always been ridiculous, and should remain that way. That over-the-top nonsense didn't go anywhere. It was simply slumbering.

@@michelleririn5075there's already strong female characters in the series, and the father trope in video games will never get old, from kratos to Joel it's such a good trope
Miranda being alive was no surprise. She merged with the Megamycete at the end of Village, we all saw that. In order to kill her required destroying ALL of the Megamycete. If you leave even a small piece of it intact, it's sufficient for Miranda to survive within it. This is no different than why we got to see Eveline again. The Mutamycete in RE7 is just a small sample of the Megamycete in Village, so when all of it was destroyed in Dulvey Louisiana, Evenline merely became one with the Megamycete.
Think of an environment created by an evil woman that uses darken versions of good people. That's the whole DLC. Countess victims apart of the big mold thing. Like how re7 you talk to the real Jack. Crazy mold thing
@@straightouttagaming3110 Not necessarily an illusion, more like a stored memory she exploited, turning him into a mere tool. Kinda like the roses she kept creating, she was constantly trying to create new roses to match the real roses actual power but it kept failing. Duke was essentially miranda guard within the megamycete memories. If he was an illusion he wouldn't have been able to manipulate the environment of the castle he was in, he wouldn't have been able to summon those... just gonna call them mold zombies nor would he have been able to teleport rose into an arena to fight of more of those things, he'd just be a mere distraction, illusions can't manipulate anything because they are not real. Memories however are real, they exist because they once happened and are stored in the users mind, its an existing memory. Illusions however do not exist, just like the illusion miranda implanted on rose to make her think she was talking to some guy named K at the start of the game who was never there to begin with.
The dlc ending got me a little disappointed but was worth the wait that Ethan was an illusion after his death seen in the car scene but why explain the story of re 8 ending again .
Context for Rose. She probably lost it with all of her emotional struggles. Her father and want he did for his family, strengthen her resolve for her to accept what she is.
To simply connect the story and explain about the ring that she's wearing and the words she said about the things she can do now that even Chris wouldn't imagine.
@@youngthinker1 Michael the angel is know for restoring memories and helping those in need gain strength to overcoming fears. The #3 is reoccurring and that can represent past present future. We got all tenses in the dlc
I’M NOT CRYING- But genuinely, excellent ending choice, and the themes with Ethan showing up in the form of light, and the fact that Ethan’s face isn’t shown both fits in terms of… well, him being faceless, but also in the fact that Rose… she wouldn’t remember his face, so having him be faceless kind of fits that way too, if you wanna think about it that way.
With this ending I can see the potential of Rose using her mold powers to resurrect re 7 and 8 villains to fight for good. She must be the key to defeating wesker's schemes in future stories of RE.
I was thinking how maybe Rose could bring back Lady Dimitrescu and Heisenberg to redeem their redemption but probably not, might be a cool concept though.
So... when Ethan made sure that he'd blow up alongside the megamycete to finish this once and for all, how come the explosion didn't destroy the fungal root and the Black God is still alive? He sacrificed himself for nothing?
@@GenocidalSquid I get it, but I'm guessing the berserk got bigger the more people it absorbed. How can all of this be happening inside just a branch? What is the point of blowing the whole thing up if all these memories can live on inside a teeny tiny sample?
@@bryanlovesyou Blowing it up prevented the megamycete from being used to create mold elsewhere. It's in the hands of Chris Redfield, and aside from mold-infected people in the "real world," the branch can't affect anyone just sitting as it is. Since Rose was born of a mold-infected person, the branch could affect her. I kinda wish Eveline had been "killed" within the megamycete realm so that she wouldn't be a problem as well, though. She's the only other entity with enough understanding of her predicament to potentially be a problem by influencing Rose's mind. My take on things is that Miranda's consciousness became diluted and lacking focus (a melted mess of other consciousnesses, unable to take on its own persona). The notes by Miranda seemed to indicate such. Anywho, Ethan's sacrifice saved everyone *physically* from the megamycete. Psychically, on the other hand...that's a different story.
literally forgetting about the giant ass snake boss in RE1, or the gigantic spiders in RE1, or the Tyrant in RE1, or the lickers in RE2, or Birkin, or motherfucking NEMESIS. STFU. RE has always had crazy stuff since the beginning.
My head cannon is that Ethan in death, for the last 16 years, has just been running and gunning throughout the Mutamycete’s consciousness, killing Miranda and her forces over and over again, like in Mercenaries.
I find it weird how they still didn't explain who the character was in the distance walking towards the vehicle in the last scene. Yeah I know if you use mods you can see it's Ethan. But they said this DLC is the end of the Winters story so they won't do anything with that scene in RE9.
It's most definitely Ethan, either only rose can see him or he's physically manifested into the world also rose will probably reappear in like re10 or something
Just beat this DLC today. It actually made me tear up a little seeing how devoted Ethan is to Rose even in death. Also that final boss fight against Miranda had some Dark Souls vibes to it. Wasn't expecting that at all.
Is it just me or is the ending scene longer this time? I don’t remember it showing the truck come to a complete stop for that long before, seems like it was made longer to emphasize that the stranger walking up is indeed Ethan
i don't know. someone should do a scene by scene comparison showing the post credit scene from the base game running along side the ending to shadows of rose at the instant she is on the bus.
It was too obvious mostly because of ending cutscene where we see someone walking to the car it was plan from start but regardless of that it was nice to see character development
i was a bit surprised. when michael lead rose to a trap by the duke i thought there was going to be a twist that michael was not on her side all along.
My confirmation that it who Michael really was is when in the castle "michael" tells rose about the secret passage behind the fire place only 2 people would know dimitrescu and ethan
Rose is like a magician now that can summons roots. Resident evil is becoming a MMORPG game now. And if she's the new protagonist on the re9 it will be so damn cool it's like we're playing dmc again where you have powers to combat zombies not just having guns and knife like the classic old ones but a new taste for us.
I think it was pretty good. Not great, as it didn't really answer any questions, but at least the gameolay was pretty good. Just a bit of a chaotic story
I was thoroughly impressed how well they tied it all up with the original ending, bravo. Was legit worried the dlc would just be action packed like Not A Hero from RE7 with Rose roundhousing hordes with her fungal power 💀💀💀

Isn't it supposed to be a recurring gag???
Chris has the recurring gag of keep losing partners so in Ethan's case we will never see his face 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s hilarious that they are desperately hiding Ethan’s face like it wasn’t revealed in its entirety 5 years ago
yeah but officially or through mods. mods aren't official.
@@theimortal1974 Technically officially. Ethan has had a face model since RE7 you can see a glimpse of it when fighting Evaline and she throws him out the window. People just went in the files. He has the same face in 8. He really does just look like "some dude" & I adore them for that.
Now i wish Ethan appears in a Marvel vs Capcom game just to see how still they are hidding his face
His idle animation has him hold a pistol raised so that it's covering his face and the effects from his attacks also obscures his face
Or they have it shrouded under the hood of the hoodie he wore the whole time in this game lol.
It's so sad that in the megamycite's memory will always be stored "Ethan will always protect Rose from biggest danger, Miranda" like,... it was the only scenario Rose can meet her dad, through her fight with Miranda.
The irony, Miranda wanted Rosemary to be the host for her child, now she is nothing more than host/slave to the Mold.
How powerful is the giant plant thing actually?
@@stevenriften7561pretty sure its as sharp as her fingers
Ironic justice, isn't it.
As long as Rose exist the megamycite will never truly be gone, so yes Ethan will continue to exist.
so, essentially, it would fall down the tragic path of his mental state within deteriorating, he sees more and more a threat to her, and eventually becomes a threat himself, not realizing it.

But serious, Ethan "Michael" Winters played such an incredible part to this DLC. Constant chills down my spine from the moment he arrived (in person), leading up to the Final Boss. To be honest, my attitude toward him was rather indifferent before this, but afterward, he skyrocketed to one of the most respectable Characters in Resident Evildom.
Also, it is wonderful to see Resident Evil go completely fucking insane again. You all thought it was over after 6, that they were "returning to their roots", forgetting that Resident Evil has always been ridiculous, and should remain that way. That over-the-top nonsense didn't go anywhere. It was simply slumbering.
idk, maybe capcom should push diversity & equality next time around and makes powerful women & mothers in resident evil?

Miranda is still alive. That's a twist of event. I wonder what's the meaning of Duke and Eveline in this Realm anyway?
Technically in the megamycete
the Duke was a illusion created by miranda

Foolishness leon, might controls everything

I’M NOT CRYING-
But genuinely, excellent ending choice, and the themes with Ethan showing up in the form of light, and the fact that Ethan’s face isn’t shown both fits in terms of… well, him being faceless, but also in the fact that Rose… she wouldn’t remember his face, so having him be faceless kind of fits that way too, if you wanna think about it that way.
This DLC reminds me of The Evil Within games.
With this ending I can see the potential of Rose using her mold powers to resurrect re 7 and 8 villains to fight for good. She must be the key to defeating wesker's schemes in future stories of RE.
I was thinking how maybe Rose could bring back Lady Dimitrescu and Heisenberg to redeem their redemption but probably not, might be a cool concept though.
she is now literally wesker 2.0

So... when Ethan made sure that he'd blow up alongside the megamycete to finish this once and for all, how come the explosion didn't destroy the fungal root and the Black God is still alive? He sacrificed himself for nothing?
It KILLED the heart of the Megamycete. That’s what he did- this is all taking place in a BRANCH or a sample of that Megamycete.
@@GenocidalSquid I get it, but I'm guessing the berserk got bigger the more people it absorbed. How can all of this be happening inside just a branch? What is the point of blowing the whole thing up if all these memories can live on inside a teeny tiny sample?
He almost died at the end of game so he's just want to blow up the megamycete by himself .
It's called money and plot armor
They're bringing third person camera to the main game as Ethan yet there still trying to hiding his face

Gigachad behavior🗿
I find it weird how they still didn't explain who the character was in the distance walking towards the vehicle in the last scene. Yeah I know if you use mods you can see it's Ethan. But they said this DLC is the end of the Winters story so they won't do anything with that scene in RE9.
It's most definitely Ethan, either only rose can see him or he's physically manifested into the world also rose will probably reappear in like re10 or something
